Prayers for Shazier

Reminded me of that kid from Penn State, Adam Taliaferro's injury. Not good. Adam recovered, has a normal life. I hope the same for Ryan.

Steve Young looks devasted. He said he was near the play and it wasn't good.

Per Gerry Dulac:
Ryan Shazier "better than what it could have been," per team source. Looking better

I sure would like to know what that means

Just a guess, I think it’s probably a bruise and it’ll be just a matter of time until his full movement comes back. Obviously, it could have been a permanent matter. That’s my optimistic outlook on his tweet.

Just heard on DVE that a source close to the situation said the injury is not as severe as it looked on the field. Let's hope this is true....they didn't disclose the source but I'm sure it's someone within the Steelers organization.

No matter how it turns out for Shazier, I wouldn't bet against the Steelers mowing down the rest of their regular-season opponents and getting the No. 1 seed.

What they pulled off, to come back after what appeared to be a devastating injury to a key player - not to mention their sloppy play - was very impressive.

If they weren't on a mission before, they are now.

Could be a compression injury with swelling around the spinal cord instead of a severed spinal cord. Worst case is severed, anything else you have a chance to walk again. Same time it could also mean that the injury is in the lower back and not the neck, so the potential paralysis does not affect respiration or the upper body. Won’t know until the hospital, Steelers, or Shazier releases an update.

Well said. I agree.. Shazier is most likely done for the year, gotta do it for him and Mr. Rooney now.

The fact it was his lower back is a good sign, most paralysis is in cervical region, not lumbar.

Hoping it’s a stinger

Some good news coming out from Steelers. Two players called Shazier's injury a spinal chord concussion, comparable to Tommy Maddox injury in 2002; Maddox missed 1 game. Encouraging news, another said.

Really hope he's gonna be okay, great guy and excellent player.

I hope he'll be able to walk soon, everything after that will be gravy.

Just curious if they thought it was a spinal chord/neck injury why didn't they immobilize his head/neck?

Radio saying some players are tweeting that it is being called a spinal concussion, similar to injury Tommy Maddox had a few years ago. Sounding good.

That was my question. Should have him in a c-collar to minimize any movement to the spinal cord. Surprised they took him off on just a backboard with no head restraint on a golf cart, would have thought they would bring the ambulance out and load him directly.

Because it isnt his head neck. Im not really sure why they didnt take him off in the ambulance. They carted him to the ambulance.
It's listed as back, but the way he couldn't move his legs, just thought they'd be more cautious with the head/neck
