If Gilbert is not absolutely 100%, he sits, you can't **** around with hamstring injuries, the fact he came back for what 1 or 2 series vs KC was just stupid.

Why if Doctors gave him a green light

Why if Doctors gave him a green light

Depends are they employed by the NFL ?

If so I would think they wouldn't have a player sit out as long as a private Dr. would.............

I figure they are both ready to rock n roll this week. Gilbert has had quite a bit of time to get himself healthy. If they need another week so be it.

Yeah I agree, it's tough if the doctors give the green light, but with a hamstring on a guy that big who is constantly pushing and getting pushed by other 300lb guys and it was to quick of a turnaround from when he got injured. The hamstring can feel perfectly fine jogging etc, but once you really put pressure on it from game situations it's probably going to be re-injured.

I agree with this, and hoped Tomlin would not rush him back.

Report: Injured Steelers Gilbert, Tuitt Both Practiced On Monday

BY DAVE BRYAN NOVEMBER 6, 2017 AT 02:11 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers practiced on Monday after having their bye last week and at appears as though two of their injured starters are indeed on track to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, defensive end Stephon Tuitt (back) and tackle Marcus Gilbert (hamstring) both practiced some on Monday. Tuitt reportedly said he feels good after a back injury kept him out of the Steelers last two games. Gilbert, on the other hand, reportedly took half the snaps with the first team offense during Monday’s session and said his hamstring felt fine.

The fact that the Steelers released tackle Jake Rodgers from their practice squad on Monday is probably a good sign that Gilbert will practice extensively this week. Assuming he doesn’t have a setback with the hamstring injury that’s forced him to miss five games this season, one would think he’ll ultimately start Sunday against the Colts.

As for Tuitt’s back injury, that reportedly happened three full weeks ago while he was lifting. While Tuitt has been sidelined the last two games, backup defensive end Tyson Alualu has filled in admirably in his place.

While Tuitt and Gilbert both reportedly practiced on Monday, we’ve yet to hear if tight end Vance McDonald (knee) or safety Mike Mitchell (calf) were able to work. Mitchell suffered a calf injury during the Steelers Week 8 win over the Detroit Lions while McDonald missed that contest with a knee injury that he had suffered during the team’s week 7 home game.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will hold his weekly press conference on Tuesday and at that time he’ll likely update the overall health of his team.

Joe, I never said where it will rain, only that it will. :)

Jeezuz I forgot what discussing things with you was actually like. ;)

Agendas...agendas...agendas.....

Tomlin doesn’t make the decision on playing an injured player, the team doctors and trainers do. It’s in the CBA.

Right team doctors and team trainers. Who runs the team Ike? Are you trying to tell me Tomlin can't declare anyone out for a game? Come on man.

If a guy is clearly OUT its an easy decision. But when he's questionable, its the coaches' decision. Its unwise to rush some injuries such as a hamstring back into action. Tomlin didn't do Dupree any favors either rushing him back, and I think he was a game too soon with Tuitt.

The Coach can rule players out even if the medical staff says the player is OK to go. The Coach, I am quite sure, cannot rule people in if the medical staff does not say the player is good to go. if the doctors say he can play, why wouldn't you play them?

That's true Ark. Tomlin has shown for 10 years now, that he relies on the team doctors to clear players before allowing them to play. It's simple, it works, and it's the right way to do it.

Though I've seen Tomlin go the other way with players that are questionable, and choose to give them another week's rest. Or hold them out for disciplinary reasons.

Gilbert practiced that whole week leading up to KC, by all accounts he was ready to go. Tuitts injury that has kept him out recently has nothing to do with his initial injury. It's his back, not his arm. Completely different injuries. Had absolutely NOTHING to do with when he was brought back.
