President Donald Trump Announces Big Presidential Trip to Asia

President Donald Trump together with First Lady Melania Trump plans to visit Asia in November. The president will travel to Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Hawaii on state visits as well as attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Trump’s decision to visit Asia comes at a pivotal moment in the region, faced with threats from North Korea and repeated economic challenges from China. “President Trump will discuss the importance of a free and open Indo-Pacific region to America’s prosperity and security,” the statement from the White House read. Trump will also focus on trade in the region, according to the White House, after after withdrawing the United States from the Trans-pacific partnership trade deal. “He will also emphasize the importance of fair and reciprocal economic ties with America’s trade partners”

The State Department Is Set For A Massive Withdrawal Of Staff From The Cuban Embassy

The United States will remove most diplomatic staff from its embassy in Cuba as part of a major withdrawal of personnel following mysterious ‘sonic’ attacks, it was reported on Thursday.

The Trump administration decided to undertake preparations for a large-scale withdrawal after Washington did not come away convinced that the Cuban government was doing everything it could to protect American diplomats in Havana, CBS News reported.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met this week with his Cuban counterpart, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez at the State Department in Washington.

The meeting apparently did little to sway the administration from its original plan to call back most of its diplomatic staff after 21 reported incidents of diplomats and their families experiencing symptoms ranging from headaches, nausea, hearing loss, balance issues, and cognitive impairment.

The Cuban government apparently asked for the meeting between Tillerson and Rodriguez.

A statement released by the Cuban government about the meeting includes a denial that the attacks even took place.

Dow posts first 8-quarter win streak in 20 years

The S&P 500 closed at a record Friday, helped by gains in technology stocks on the last trading day of the quarter.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite rose more than half a percent to post its 50th record close for this year. The Dow transports and small-cap Russell 2000 also hit record highs.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed up nearly 24 points, within 0.1 percent of its record high. Goldman Sachs contributed to the most to gains in the index.

The index posted quarterly gains of 4.9 percent its eighth straight quarter of gains for the first time since 1997.

The S&P 500 rose nearly 4 percent in the quarter, also its eighth straight quarter of gains. The Nasdaq composite gained almost 5.8 percent for the quarter, its fifth straight positive quarter since 2015.

U.S. Stocks Hit Records, Fed Talk Weighs on Bonds: Markets Wrap

U.S. stocks surged to all-time highs while Treasuries slumped amid reports that President Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin met with former Federal Reserve governor Kevin Warsh to discuss the role of Fed chair.

The S&P 500 Index, Nasdaq Composite Index and Russell 2000 Index all set records, with the S&P 500 closing out its eighth straight quarterly gain. Trump, who also reportedly met with former Fed governor Jerome Powell, said he expects to make a decision on the central bank’s leadership in two to three weeks.

Financial shares, which would stand to benefit from Warsh’s views on deregulation, helped spearhead the stock market gains as the KBW Bank Index leaped to the highest since March. But despite the enthusiasm, some investors predicted that Warsh’s nomination would hurt equities.

Hannity beats Madcow in first week of 9 p.m. showdown

In the first week of the head-to-head battle between Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow, the conservative heavyweight drew significantly higher ratings than his liberal counterpart.

Fox News moved Hannity’s show from 10 p.m. to 9 p.m. as part of a broader shakeup of its prime-time line-up, designed in part to counter a dramatic ratings surge by rival MSNBC, led by Maddow, the biggest ratings winner of the Trump era.

Hannity pulled out all the stops, bringing in Steve Bannon, Bill O’Reilly, Paul Ryan and Rush Limbaugh to boost his numbers. It appears to have worked: The Fox News pundit pulled in an average of 3,498,000 viewers from Monday through Thursday, with 713,000 in the key adult 25-54 demographic, according to early Nielsen figures.

Maddow averaged 2,649,000 viewers, with 599,000 adults 25-54. CNN’s 9 p.m. hour — which usually features Anderson Cooper’s “AC360,” but this week had two special town halls — finished third, with 1,173,000 viewers and 416,000 in the key demographic.

Novelist on 2016 Election: I Was 'in This Manic Zombie/Teary/Rager Dream State'

My kids didn’t have school the day after Donald Trump won the presidential election and eventually, near noon, they came into my room to see what was wrong with me. Perhaps they’d come to me at their father’s prompting. Perhaps they’d heard me weeping. They’d never seen me this way before. Inconsolable.

“Hillary didn’t lose!” I insisted, as they sat on the bed around me, even as Hillary’s voice drifted into the room — her concession speech, on the radio downstairs, my husband shouting up, “Honey, you should come listen to this!”

I would not listen. I would never listen. The sound of Hillary Clinton conceding to Donald Trump is what compelled me to rise at last, if only to shut my bedroom door.

“It can’t be true,” I said to my kids, back in my bed encampment. “It can’t be. It can’t!”

I’d repeatedly assured my children in the months leading up to the election that Donald Trump could not win.

On that day after the election, after I finally pulled myself out of bed, I walked around in a state of numb shock. My numbness was interrupted only by two extremes of emotion: more jags of crying — this can’t be true! — and an ever-heightening state of outrage — she won by nearly three million votes!

In this manic zombie/teary/rager dream state, I somehow managed to go to the grocery store, where I managed to figure out what to make for dinner and then, at home, made it.

Imagine how empty and devoid of meaning your life must be to let politics have such a hold over you. She needs a shrink asap. I cracked up at what one person (another woman) wrote in the comments section. "I think this lady is a couple egg rolls short of a pu pu plattter". Priceless.

President Trump EPA to propose repealing Obama's climate regulation

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will propose repealing the Clean Power Plan - the Obama administration’s centerpiece regulation to fight climate change - and plans to solicit input on a rule to replace it, according to an EPA document seen by Reuters.

The decision marks the agency’s first formal step to sweep away the rule intended to cut carbon emissions from power plants, after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March launching the EPA’s review.

The Republican president has expressed doubts about the science of climate change and has blamed former Democratic President Barack Obama’s efforts to cut carbon emissions for hurting the coal mining and oil drilling industries.

Is Trump really a "moron" like Tillerson called him or does he just play one on TV?

If you called your boss a "moron" wouldn't you be fired?

I believe he called him a “f——-g moron” to be exact.... I think it’s hysterical. I doubt Tillerson’s job is long for this world, given Trump’s inability to let anything slide combined with his propensity to fire people. My money says he’ll be gone by the end of the week. W

This is how Presidents "win". With decisions made by the Supreme Court that Trump clearly tilted towards "Constitutionalists" vs. "Living Document" ideologies:

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/9...-supreme-courts-upcoming-term/article/2636174

We have the major decisions coming on the ability to gerrymander districts, the legality of an artist/proprietor to not service gays based on religious beliefs, the future of sports gambling, a possible final decision on Trump's executive order on temporary immigration restrictions, and a big case on government surveillance and use of cell tower location information.

Pretty important stuff in my opinion that could shape future legislation across the country and have huge impacts in state legislatures.

Trump administration reverses Obama-era listing of the walrus as endangered

The Pacific walrus will not be designated as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act, the Fish and Wildlife Service announced Wednesday, reversing an Obama administration finding that the walrus deserved protections because of the effects of global warming and receding Arctic sea ice.

"Their thorough review, driven by the best available data and science, found that the population of Pacific walrus is robust and healthy, and has proven that it can adapt to the changing conditions in the Arctic," said Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, who is chairwoman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
