I think their rules expert had money on Iowa and so did the refs.
They overturned that INT for Haley. Maybe it hit the ground, MAYBE. But no angle showed conclusively that it did. Haley's hand was under the ball in every angle and there was no view that actually showed it hit the ground. The ball moved? So what if his hands are under the ball.
The McSorley fumble should have been incomplete. They showed the Iowa guy hit that ball and McSorley maintained control and then he still had control when his arms started moving forward.
Double standard all night on holding and pass interference. PSU got called for multiple pass interference calls and most were bogus. That deep shot was ridiculous. PSU DB #1 Campbell played it perfectly, had inside position, lokked back for the ball and the ball was not catchable anyway.
Meanwhile the Iowa DBs were grabbing the PSU WRs all game with no calls. Same with holding. Penn State got flagged multiple times, but none for Iowa. Wadley had a big run up the gut where the Center was 10 yards downfield with an obvious hold. It was the key block of the run and nothing.
Iowa played a great game on defense but it was penalties that kept this game close.
This could ultimately be good. This type of tough, grind it out win is the type of game that prepares teams to win championships.
One last thing. Did it seem like every guy on Iowa's defense was like 8 feet tall? Penn State WT #84 Johnson is 6'4 and it looked like evey Iowa DB was nearly his height. Nevermind their goon linemen who all seems to have arms that scraped the ground.
