A few points to ponder.
1 ) It's his speed, acceleration, and quickness that looks slower to me. You can still be quick with acceleration without having a 4.5 forty time. On an ouside run yesterday, Bell wasn't close to beating DL or LB players to the edge. We have all seen him do that before. Other posters see a speed and quickness decline so far in Bell's game. Take off your black and gold glasses. On the Vikings D, Conner who ran it once got 9 yards. Bell who ran it 27 times had a long of 11.
2 ) Bell knew what he was playing for " the business side " and chose to hold out for no financial gain. His timing is off because of this, and I think he's not in
football shape. During the process, he mocked Colbert a bit and acted like a @ss.
3 ) His Yards per Rush and Yards per catch for the year is 3.2 and 2.7. Terrible numbers and with our OL and skill players should be a bit better. Conner ran it once for 9 yards. Bell ran it 27 times, with a long of 11. Hmmm....
4 ) If he can't regain form vs the Bears, it's not raining, it's pouring. Bring your umbrella because the fans will become more vocal. One game or two, okay maybe a fluke. Three? Not likely unless there is some sort of injury we do not know about.
5 ) What do you really know about South Beach? I have been there 50 times, mostly before I was married. Its a party place and this include the athletes visiting for an away game. My PT is a brick house, and she parties there all the type.
If you want to train without distractions, do it somewhere in Ohio or middle PA. South Beach has more distractions than just about anywhere else I can think of in the USA. Judging by Bell's shall we say appetite for women, and life style I do not think he was down there solely for the training... Face facts. he went there for business and pleasure....and look at the results we are seeing on the field.
You can ponder all you want, it doesn't mean your observations are accurate. You have an opinion, like everyone else. But you are not as clever as you think.
Take off my homer glasses? Why don't you put aside your agenda and ego and look at the situation in full.
1. First you said speed, now you say acceleration and quickness. "To you looks slower". Unless you validate you have speed geared vision, your observation is subjective. He had some runs that were qualitative and some that weren't. Some attributed to the OL, which those who know what they are talking about have contraindicated as the culprit to the running game, in addition to the defenses they've played against. To sit there and compare Connor's one carry to Bells 27 and conceptualize your logic about the productivity is asinine. It doesn't even amount to discussing it because it's ludicrous.
2. As already commented, it wasn't a hold out. Learn to tell the difference between the business side and the football side. He wasn't required to show up for camp or preseason. Guess what, he signed his tender the first day after preseason ended......for whatever reason business or otherwise.
3. If I am guaranteed the average, I'll take those numbers for a RB every time. See question 1 for response to your repeated question.
4. If, if, if, if........what if, Ben throws 10 picks, Bell gets <50 yards...it's over? For Bell? The team? It may be another 2016 Philly game, then again it may be 2016 KC game. Everyone can play your game.
And please....give us a break fans will be bringing umbrellas....how about its more likely you will blame Tomlin, Colbert, both coordinators, the FO secretary for the reason they lost. Players play, coaches coach. "Coach" thinks he's a better football man than all of them.
5. Could care less about South Beach. I've never lived there, or Miami in general, but it is what was built to be. Everything around SB is not preferable. I even dislike the airport. It's distractions is nowhere near as formidable as in LA or even NY. I would put Atlanta there too.
I lived in Atlanta for long time and, there were all kinds of activities to get yourself into....and not just parting. Many.........MANY Professional athletes were around. Heck most I ran into STILL live there. From ATL and other teams and different sports. So SB is a place, but glad you think you are the social conscious of all athletes and know where the best place to have fun is.
Also glad your PT is buff, but it has no relevance here. There are so many different places to train other than OH or PA. Most professionals go to CA, FL, AZ because of the weather element and the professional trainers based there.
Finally, where did I say Bell was in Miami solely for training? I advised he has music interest, which SB is a central hub for. So of course he isn't there just for training...
Again, we are 2-0, maybe 3-0 next week. I tend to look at the positive in the current status, but you will be a naysayer until your agenda is fulfilled.
