Watching a 99 replay of the "Browns Return to the NFL" game.

Kordell was truly a mediocre QB. And that was on a really really good day.

Quote of the game.

"Kordell Stewart was about as sharp as Kordell Stewart is going to be." And they meant it as a compliment. The irony. Tomczak was actually MUCH sharper.

Why yinz picking on my boy, he was good before the switch to QB and a meltdown center staged.

Yes he was. I loved him as slash. I hated him as a starting qb after that Denver AFCCG. I really was convinced at one point he had blackmail pictures on Coach Cowher since he started for way way longer than he should have. I guess everything happens for a.reason. I really wish he would have went full time at wr.

Defense rests your honor, as he isn't getting open any time soon.

Korkey was the BEST ever in the SLASH role. No one and I mean NO ONE could touch him. Now as a QB....................... I think to many had touched him....................

Salute the nation

I remember the Steelers losing big in Baltimore during the Memorial Stadium years, when Steelers fans outnumbered Ravens fans.

Willie B ran back a kick that started the comeback. Korkie had like a 70yd TD run, and Ward had a deep TD. Was a great game to be at!

Kordell wasnt even horrible at Qb until he decided he was going to prove he was a pocket passer and not run.... his issues were like 100% mental weakness, from forcing balls to firing a 5 yard pass at 100mph trying to avoid interceptions... it didn't help that we lost gailey and had sherman who was complicit in letting Kordell act like a pocket passer and then Gilbride, whose complex offense needed a quick thinking decisive and confident qb...

True. By the numbers, Stewart was truly "mediocre". He wasn't a terrible QB. Just mediocre.

What's sad is that as Slash he was freaking amazing. I honestly believe he could have been as loved as Ward if he'd just stayed in that "utility role". The difference between Steward and someone like McNabb or McNair was that the moment Stewart broke the pocket and ran, he was running. There was no real threat of him pulling up and passing the ball. Once defenders figured that out, it was as simple as "get Stewart out of the pocket and turn him into a RB".

So sad. So much promise. The years the Steelers could have had Stewart and Ward and perhaps Burress at those positions. Along with the Bus. Ah well.

Yep... in 97 when Chan would hav him either hand off or fake the handoff to Bettis going one direction and bootleg in the other direction made teams pick their poison... either spy Kordell and have one fewer guy tackling him or let kordell go wild .... it was like a 2 rb offense only one had a cannon arm if you utterly neglected the pass...

It is my sincere belief that losing O'Donnell who upon departure was a better than average passing QB cost us at least one super bowl appearance.

Stewart_Tomzck_Graham_Miller. Bad starting Qb's often playing for Steelers teams with talent on both sides of the ball. How Cowher went 10-6 to 11-5 with these guys are the quarterback is a testimonial to how good of a coach he was as the margin for error to win was razor thin in many cases. But when we had the lead at half time we won almost all of the time. If we were down 10+ points, a comeback unlikely due to the QB's
