True. By the numbers, Stewart was truly "mediocre". He wasn't a terrible QB. Just mediocre.
What's sad is that as Slash he was freaking amazing. I honestly believe he could have been as loved as Ward if he'd just stayed in that "utility role". The difference between Steward and someone like McNabb or McNair was that the moment Stewart broke the pocket and ran, he was running. There was no real threat of him pulling up and passing the ball. Once defenders figured that out, it was as simple as "get Stewart out of the pocket and turn him into a RB".
So sad. So much promise. The years the Steelers could have had Stewart and Ward and perhaps Burress at those positions. Along with the Bus. Ah well.
