He's a throwback power running back with good enough feet. If Bell is out, we can win with him. I think his yards per carrying would be close to Bell, and he's a better short yard runner, but of course, he isn't close to the receiving threat Bell is.

My continued belief is Pittsburgh is a very easy place for a running back to have success. We've got a powerful OL, a Hall of fame QB still on top of his game, and the most dangerous set of receivers in the NFL.

With two bozo's at QB the Falcons keyed in on him. The rookie nearly had 100 yards in his debut

CBS for example said he was impressive.

I am not wiling to crown Conner any part of his game better than Bell. As it can not be anything but conjecture at this point.

I like Conner but that performance last night showed he needs work hauling in passes.And he didn't seem to run (like I mentioned in another thread) well to his right.

So things to like, but obviously somethings to not like.

Serious question. Why do you always defend the players who get suspended ( And lied to the fans ) , and in this case holding out even though the contract offered would make him the highest paid player at his positon?

Being at the game doesn't always offer the best view. You should know that. Simply stated Conner did well. Is this some sort of threat? Not at all. Its nice to have a good back up capable of producing if called upon to start.

What does of any of that have to do with his talent??? He was an immature idiot. But that has nothing to do with his talent. He isnt holding out he is skipping camp. Its a difference.

It doesn't offer the best view? I sit in the upper deck which provides the best perspective of the entire field.

He's not a good third down receiving back. Okay, so he won't be on the field on third and long. I get that as well.

But I think he is a better power runner, and if he was to start would produce close to what Bell did on the ground. He also has character far and away superior to most on the team, and that includes Mr. Bell.

Character sure we know Conner's story and love it.

And I too think he will end up being a solid power runner.

But he still has to prove that. We saw one stop in a short yardage situation last night or not?

Better power runner. Bell has been in the league how long now and i cant think of a single time hes been tackled for a loss off the top of my head. He always falls forward. He is amongst the best in yds after contact

As far as 50-100+ yards a way from where the ball is, for sure. It does not compare to TV view for broadcasting, I see fine details your vantage point can not offer. Each viewing point has its pro's and con's so please spare me on the upper deck as I have sat there many times, including before you were born.

Bell has been tackled for a loss before. You must have missed those plays, and its not always his fault.

Im sure he has but off the top of my head i cant remember which means its not alot.
 
I liked Connor's performance. I noted to Supe, during the game, that he seems to have an issue following a block and runs elsewhere where there are no blockers. Sometimes there are no D players, either, but the D in this league has some fast players. Those spaces close up quick. He gets some quick yards, but then tackled, whereas, if he follows the blocks, he may be better off (impossible to tell, really, but that is the purpose of the blockers).

If you are detached from reality, you see that Conner had a 4.9 avg and become ecstatic. If you are attached to reality, you see he had a 2.6 avg in the first half and 5.66 in the second half. I find it hard to get overly excited when he is running behind people who may not make the team and are blocking people who may not make the team.

great draft pick, the scouts did a very good homework to see the talent through all his college career and not just his final season when he was coming back from a year in the hospital

And I have seen far more than 230 Steeler games. You are 29 year old, correct? Without saying my exact age, I've seen more games than you by a sizable margin at least +100 games

PS: Its nice to see a Millennial who likes sports and has some fire in him.
