Not sure if this should go under football or the concession stand, so mods feel free to move.

Called Direct TV - AT&T this afternoon to cancel my automatic renewal of ST for this fall. I wasn't angling for any kind of a discount, I just don't see the value of it anymore, especially with the Steelers on many prime time games.

What did surprise me was that the conversation on their part was matter of fact, OK, it's canceled. No offer of a discount or even asking why I was canceling. Again, no big deal on my part, just that having purchased it for at least the last 15 years, I would think there would be some effort on their part for retention. Guess they have enough money.

I had it since year one, as well as Direct TV extra packages. I cancelled, they could care less. They have sent shitloads of mailings and called numerous times since to get us to come back. I told them, When Roger Goodell gets fired, give me a call, the guy on the other end of the phone started laughing, and said that is the most common response.

I cancelled my $240.00 a month worth of cable TV package about 4years ago. Don't miss it at all. I have a interweb streamer and also pay $8.00 a month for Netflix but am about to cancel it too. I go a sports bar / grill here in my home town (about 15years now) and watch EVRERY STEELERS game there. I'm their favorite patron and I get treated like a king. My best friend and I have our own tv and bar stools reserved every time we go. BEST dang game watching around. Oh and **** the "rog"

Where is this bar? Sounds like a great place to watch a game with you!

Ever since AT&T took over, the deals went away.

THIS!
I have been with DTV since day 1.
I am cancelling my service come August when my current contract expires.
They could offer me the moon and free everything and I wouldn't stay. I am done with AT&T / DTV forever.
Ever since AT&T bought them out, they have dried up on customer service completely, and their deals/specials/promos for existing customers has as well.
It's all downhill from here with this company. If you don't bundle your TV/Cell/Landline together, you're worthless to them.
Their customer service is nonsense at this point and serve zero purpose.

I cut the cord with them this past February....after 24 years.....they tried to retain me with a monthly subscription fee of half of what I was paying but I didn't want even 85.00 bills from them. I did go streaming instead, got a free Firestick which I Jailbroke with Kodi and now the entire entertainment and sports world is opened up to me

Got my bill cut in half and free ST when we switched to AT & T cell phone service last year. Of course at the instruction of the At &T store guy I had to cancel my Directv and have them reinstall it in my husband's name to make us a "new customer". He told me if they ask why I am cancelling just tell them I'm moving out of the house.

But I think in a year or two I may get rid of it. Once down to one kid at home who's driving I'd probably rather just go somewhere and watch the games. Many Steelers games end up being on national TV anyway.

went to TimeWarner/Spectrum when I moved to Austin Texas. just too expensive to keep satellite. getting Cable with all the channels, 100Mbps internets and phone for less than I paid for directv alone. I work sunday nights anyways.

Same here.

Had the Sunday ticket since 1997 I called last year and they were unwilling to cut me a deal so I cancelled.

They gave zero *****.

I dropped Directv & NFL ST two years ago and I still get junk mail from them to come back. After reading some of the responses on how they act now I don't think I will be signing up with them in the future.

Called ready to drop it. Told the lady it was too expensive (377.42) I've been a customer for 14 years and new customers get it free. So I was dropping it, she gave me the tix max for 99.99. So I kept it.

I've had it for the past 6 yr's and have never paid for it once..LOL!

I'm thinking about dropping my cable and getting dish.

I plan on cancelling my cable and going with internet only, then using a VPN to rework the blackout rules and get NHL.tv and maybe NFL game pass with an overseas VPN location. Pirate bay every movie and show I watch already.

Sent from my Pixel using Steeler Nation mobile app

I stopped my ticket in April. The NFL continues to put greed above the game.

You got that right but also know that the GAME itself has changed and not for the better. The rules / concussion / CHEATRIOTS setting presidence for a cheating fixed outcome / big money......... The game of old will never return and that fact alone has many on the edge of giving up on football. Combine it with the rest of the bullshit and may have a tendency to agree with less time spent on football.

Just checked the prices for this year. They have went up 80(up to 280) dollars to watch on the phone jesus christ that sucks. May try to work out a deal with my co worker and pay 100 bucks for her password. If not will just bite the bullet and pay the extra 80. Damn this Steelers addiction lol

I only watch the Steelers. The only thing I ever wanted was the feed out of Pittsburgh for the game. I can't get that. I got the ticket last year first time ever and was like never again. I'll get the NHL Center Ice this year. **** the NFL. I'll go to a sports bar near me if I must. Id rather put money in a local business anyway.

For those of us using Kodi, what source are you guys using with good success? Sports devil used to be good, but it won't seem to update anymore.

Are there any other reliable feeds?

Sooooo...

I finally stopped letting the cable/satellite companies steal my money. I'm using my PS4 (Playstation Vue) for TV (when I watch it) and I'm only paying $44 for the Elite package. I go to a sports bar on Sunday's so I see all the games AND I'm saving money overall...

Yeah, I still have cable. I haven't figured out a way to be able to consistently watch the Pens/Pirates yet.

I left last year just tired of slow play with all the flags, tv commercials replays and whatever, felt the game has changed so much it just not worth it. As I listened to the announcers on the pregame on ESPN befor Thursday game I see exactly why, all this talk about the brothers of the NFL need to be able to stand up for what they believe is bad in this country, bla bla bla. Yell at the camera do you here us Gödel you need to make things better. What happen to NFL football? It continues to go backwards and if it was not for all the fantasy leagues their ratting would not be so good. Why pay all the money to watch what has become political and greed. I earned every penny of my little pay check why give it to NFL and Direct TV, neither gives a big one for any of us. We should not be surprised by the ticket apathy or the NFL's.

I just enjoy sitting on my couch and watching the NFL too much to give it up. I'll admit it, they got me hooked. Got it free last year, this year I got them to drop it from $300 to $180 for the Sunday Ticket Max. I would spend that easily in 3 to 4 weeks at a sports bar, let alone I would have to drive home piss drunk when Tomlin loses to _______________ (insert sub .500 team here).
