looks like one draft prospect is on the bubble.. but who - Conley

I don't know. We live in a world where if you're accused, you're guilty. Look how many people refer to Ben as 'the rapist', do we really want to add Conley to our team? Its unfortunate for him if this isn't true, and its unfortunate for us that rape is the accusation, and not something else that wouldn't hurt our team's reputation as much - like weed or PEDs.

I'd guess that the Steelers just pulled him right off their board after this.

'Buzz' is accused CB Conley will go Round 3

A league source told Profootballtalk.com that the "current buzz" is Ohio State CB Gareon Conley will slip into round three after he was accused of rape by a Cleveland woman this week.

It's better than not being drafted at all, of course, which became a distinct possibility when the allegations were made. Our takeaway from this report is that NFL teams are putting in time on Conley's situation and may be determining that they believe the allegations to be potentially false. Before being accused of the felony crime, Conley was a sure-fire first-round prospect.

I would take him in round 2, after drafting a pass rusher in round 1.

I am a risk/reward type guy. If my people doing the background check dug into the facts and feel reasonably certain he is innocent and he lasts until day 3, I take the guy. I mean, how many 4th/5th/6th rounders do we dump each year because they cannot play? If I think he has a better than 50% shot he is innocent (not guilty and gets off...because I cannot reward someone that rapes someone), then I take the guy.

I damn sure don't let him go undrafted because if he is never charged or the results exonerate him, you get a 1st for a 4th. I know that isn't the greatest PR move, but he slides a ring on his finger, he could call the girl back up for a 2nd round and people would forgive him. ****, everyone remembers Farve and the hot tub. Yet, he kept getting hired.

Me too. You look at my "what I would have done" and I often take chances. Some work (I picked Burfict in round 7 and Marcus Cannon in round 4), some don't (I picked Marcus Lattimore in round 4, Da'Rick Rogers in round 6 and Ekpre-Olomu in round 7).

But when your own GM says he views/expects round 5-7 guys as just special teams and practice squad players, what the hell. Why not?

When I get to the point in the draft where Conley is vastly better than the next best guy, I pull the trigger. I don't see that happening at #62, but after that, all bets are off. Same with Sidney Jones and Fabian Moreau.

You don't want to wait for the DNA results?

Ohio State CB Gareon Conley will submit a DNA sample during his Monday meeting with police.

The woman told police that she initially met Conley in the elevators at the Westin. Thomas said she was unaware of Conley's stature as a high-profile athlete until last week.

Thomas said the woman is traumatized by the incident and ensuing national media coverage.

Police reports say Conley asked the woman to take part in a foursome and the woman declined. The woman told Conley she wanted to watch another couple having sex in the bathroom in order to distract him from his sexual advances, the police report says.

She said Conley grabbed her, ripped her pants off and raped her, according to the report. She repeatedly told Conley to stop and that he was hurting her, the police report says.

After the encounter, the woman told police that he kicked her out of the hotel room, the police report says. He left the room before police arrived.

Two of Conley's friends gave statements to police that nothing happened between Conley and the woman and that she became upset after they asked her to leave.
