Keith Butler

I'm not disputing that, but if you noticed on the blitzes Steelers Depot showed, the Steelers were playing zone behind them, and on two of three of them both Harrison and Dupree were in coverage. To me, if you want to maximize the chances of a blitz being successful, you should probably have at least one of your best pass rushers as part of it.

Plus, half of those technically were not blitzes, as there were only four defenders going after Brady.

It just seemed like Tomlin and Butler game planned to sacrifice pressure for coverage, as that was probably the most three man rushes they've used since the first month of the season.

real stupid time to go away from what has worked during the winning streak

That's not accurate, according to AJ, if our players had only executed better then it was a great game plan. Hell, if Butler and Tomlin came up with a game plan to only use 10 defensive players AJ would still think it is BRILLIANT and expect it to be up to the players to execute that plan. Never mind that pretty much every news outlet, commentators, NFL Network, ESPN all say that the game plan was to blame, AJ knows better

You have Hargrave,Tuitt, and Heyward. I could see one DT/DE type. But past that there is greater needs that need upgrading and would receive playing time as a result.

OLB
CB
TE
vet WR is a solid idea .... but probably won't happen..........

I don't trust us being healthy on the D - line all year. I am all for over-kill on the D - line.

"If the players executed". **** if that where the case than ANY ******* BODY COULD COACH. The "game plan" was so inferior that it actually looked like someone off the street (obviously a Bostonian) came up with it. I see our rookies improving just even if only the game time helped. I see Cam back in full force. I see a lot of positives to take into next season as far as the players go. Will the COACHES be able to "increase" their above the neck play???? I'll have to wait for that arrow..............

Yeah I did see a lot of things players can improve .

But the coaches from the top down really need to pinpoint weaknesses and strengths better in game planning.

and if Butler can't grasp certain things do not work against certain teams, they need a new DC. Same goes for Haley.....

Because if the OC and DC are the ones really drawing up the approach, they need to be held accountable for shitshows like the one that reared its ugly head in New England.

Except they didn't play the Pats**** during the winning streak. In fact they never play them during any winning streak. Think about that.

Oh I know those ******** cheat still and have some elaborate scheme in place. But to overcome that coaches have to coach smartly.

Something that this team hasn't done well at.

It was a bad gameplan. Hogan was running curls and 5 yd in routes all game. Brady was finding open holes in the Steelers zone defense. Everybody keeps pointing out to play the pats in man coverage. Yet the Steelers still go against there favor.

Butler/Tomlin need to understand that. The team is growing in the right direction. The rookies are really catching on. It's all about imroving and learning from past mistakes now

The sportswriters who know more about X's and O's than I do said that the Steelers did play man several times and got burned on that too. So again, much like we said when LeBeau was still here, how much is scheme and how much is Tombert not drafting very good defensive talent to execute those schemes? Hard to say.

See if we can afford Richard Sherman. That's all I got.

That isn't relevant. NOBODY will beat them unless Brady is getting hit. I don't care if you do give up a handful of big plays in order for him to get hit early, and in a tough manner. He's not the same guy if he's getting hit. Period. The sit back and let him have all day **** is akin to not putting a defense on the field. I don't care what anyone said, the game plan was chicken ****, and it got them crushed.

I agree slash and want to hold coaching accountable. I realize the ultimate coach currently leaves his Coordinators coordinate so he won't be paying the price in that regards. I still think we need better coaching and a couple key players in the wheel.

Something I'm afraid the arrow hasn't truly pointed strongly upwards on in awhile.

That bothers me about butler is how unprepared we are especially in big games. His first season as D.C. We played the pats and it's was embrassing. The best te in the nfl, drunkcowski, was running around invisible to the defense. It was shocking to see how open he was. This year same thing drunkcowski destroys us. Playoffs roll around drunkcowski is gone hogan kills us, again completely invisible to the secondary. Wtf!! That's coaching and I mean very ****** coaching if you can ven call it that. Something needs to be done... what they plan on doing just fillng the roster with one and two picks and hope they can over come poor coaching????

Butler made a major improvement in the defense this year. He did so despite never having his two best pass rushers on the field at the same time and starting 3 rookies. Remember how many of us thought we would need 30+ to win? What he mainly needs is more time to develop the young players and the communications. What we don't need is to throw it out and start over because we were one of multiple teams to lose to NE and Brady.
