Bryant speaks to SI

Not sure but I think he is tested randomly even though he is suspended.

Certainly possible. The league (and NFLPA) don't disclose all the details. It would be nice to see Martavis reinstated in time to have a full offseason. If I'm Tomlin/Colbert, there is no way I'm counting on having Martavis in 2017 but it would be a nice bonus.

I think Gordon was tested during his self inflicted sabbatical

It seems somewhat harsh. Player is not getting paid and isn't allowed to step on NFL/Steelers property yet still subject to drug testing. Player basically doesn't exist in the eyes of the league at that point. I would think any testing is just part of "voluntary" treatment / counseling which helps to convince Roger to let you back in.

I don't know if he gets tested or not. i do know he is applying for reinstatement. to me that means there are conditions. Possibly he has had to volunteer test in order to apply.

It's been reported today that Bryant has in fact already applied to be reinstated (for next season, of course). Hopefully that means he is confident that he can pass the many drug tests which would start soon (I presume he has to pass multiple tests before Roger would reinstate him, but I don't know that for sure).

Bryant's agent is refuting the report that he has applied for reinstatement. Don't have the link, but Karboly has posted it on DK. Agent also stated Bryant will apply, "just hasn't yet".

What's he waiting on, to see if the Steelers win the GCCFA thinking he'll be welcomed back to the team for the lwoB repuS?

Gotta CLEAR the system..........................(sarcasm)

For those of you thinking he will be treated second rate, he won't be. Yes he has to jump through the hoops but when it's GAME time and he is still here, Bryan t will be dressed and in the game. HE IS A DIFFERENCE MAKER. Pretty simple evaluation. Do I condone his actions.....hell NO. But if your going to keep him on the team, your going to USE him. TRUE he can finish out his rookie contract and then see from there as that will essentially cost us very minimum cap space. Weather he stays clean or not is yet to be determined. OBVIOUSLY have a contingency in place.

Bryant next summer may be a completely different person -- neither he or the Steelers can be certain at this point. Regardless of any words now, it is what happens each day for the rest of his Steeler career that matters.
The best thing for him to see is a bunch of rookies and other young guys (not dissimilar to his past) stepping up and becoming important cogs in the Steeler O. When he realizes that he is 6th or 7th on the depth chart and has to work his way up, then the real test of his mettle will occur. I really hope that he can overcome his issues. But it is hard to be really confident given his inability to do same in the recent past.

If Bryant is on the right antidepressants, he will be a different person. He just has to keep taking them.

Ironic that this guy needs drugs to stay off of drugs...

That's the thing, remember to take them. Terry Bradshaw has memory lapses and look where that takes him.....................................................

Bryant needs to keep on keepin on by what ever solid methods he needs. Right now he seems to be doing that and striving forward. His taking his time to file for reinstatement could be an unselfish act for his team mates. It doesn't put any lime light on him during this critical focus time for the team. AB might actually take a lesson from this.
