Bryant speaks to SI

if he is serious he can be comeback player of the year. the best 1-2 punch in the league at receiver. the 4 b's, if we can sign bell. we could be vastly better next year if...and i hope it happens for us and martavis.

No doubt. But this would be his fourth or fifth chance. Remember that he missed the first 6 games of 2014 due to positive pot tests? And that he was suspended four games in 2015 due to positive drug tests?

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...ed-for-multiple-failed-marijuana-tests-082815

And now has missed an entire season due to more positive-or-missed drug tests?

That is a lot of chances he has already blown.

So, yes, I hope he kills it next year. I hope he stays off the weed. I hope he catches 70 passes in 2017.

But I would not be surprised in the least if he fails another test.

He wasn't suspended in 2014.

Just watched the video. He seems much more sincere in that. Apologized at the end and said go Steelers.

I wasn't very fond of his comments towards Ben. Seemed like an I don't owe you anything attitude that isn't needed when you just let 52 other men plus all of Pittsburgh down.

I think when he comes back he will give a "blanket" apology to everyone one time. Then he will keep on keepin on and ern the trust he is looking for. I hope that is the case anyways. As for him and Ben, I think that has already been addressed or will be addressed in private.

I have no problem with the Steelers giving him one more chance. But if they' re smart they will proceed moving forward like he isn't on the team.

Because any given moment he could be gone.

I agree with you on this. They have players in place in the event he doesn't clear the hurdles he has set in front of himself. Use up his rookie contract and then make a decision from there.

I think he gets another chance and lets see what he has to offer in both sincerity and physical attributes. We'll know before training camp is half over as to the person he has become in both sincerity and physicality.

Salute the nation

He is a simple, simple boy. I have no faith that he'll change. I'll hope for the best for him personally, and for our team, but I have serious doubts that he'll be a part of it for much longer.

Hope he puts as much energy into staying clean as he did his ink.

Has a huge opportunity... don't eff it up this time MB.

I'm not counting anything until the dude gets reinstated and shows up in Latrobe. Until then, I pay no attention whatsoever.

I'm with you on this. I hope Martavis pulls through and realizes his potential. But he has to prove he can be what us fans expect. And it's not so much to do it for the fans. But at least show some respect and accountability towards his teammates. Get on track Martavis. SN is rooting for you

Honestly from the perspective of anyone who would like to see the kid back on the team and making an impact I don't really think you could ask for anymore. That really isn't worth anything of it actually happening. I just really don't think you could ask him to say more.

Some interesting takes on how Bryant "sounds" in the written article. As we learned last week with Ben, an author can manipulate the tone of an article by the words he chooses. Even if he can't always manipulate the facts.

Personally, I hope the kid stays clean; for the team, for the possibility of some SB runs and also for himself. But, if I'm the Steelers F.O., I'm not betting the farm on it either. If there's a "Martavis Bryant" type (but w/out the "issues") available in the 3rd or 4th round, I'm buying. Despite the fact that we already have "Martavis Bryant". The problem is, there aren't a whole lot of those guys out there.

Well I really hope he can put his life back together. He's a natural athlete and good receiver who admits he never worked out and just played on Sundays. Look how good he was with little effort. If he can change into a better person who trains and works out daily he could be a beast next year. Our WR's are STACKED! We have so many WR's going into next year especially if Bryant can make a full comeback....Defenses will not be able to defend us with all the weapons Ben will have.

Think about these WR's heading into next year......Brown, Bryant, Rogers, Coates, Hamilton, Ayers, Heyward-Bey.....YIKES! Toss in Le'Veon Bell, Jessie James, Xavier Grimble.......Oooooooh it's going to be a good year!

That completely is not true. He was held out because he couldn't grasp the offense.

And why was that? Because of the

But seriously, I recall reading articles in 2015 after the pot suspension that the Steelers held him out in 2014 due to the same pot issues.

Michael Floyd and Martavis Bryant walk into a bar ... then an "herbal medicine" clinic. We know where this ends up.

Speaking of "walking into a bar" jokes:

A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartenders says, "Okay, I'll serve you, but don't start anything."

Two peanuts walk into a bar, and one was a salted.

A dyslexic man walked into a bra ...

A man walks into a bar with a slab of asphalt under his arm, and says: "A beer please, and one for the road."

You ungrateful ******* are welcome.

I would wait until camp and let him fight for a roster spot. He wouldn't be a starter for me unless he made it through the entire season. There are enough weapons on this roster now that he doesn't even matter and that's a good thing. If he gets through the year and earns it, an incentive laden deal. If that won't work for him he can kick rocks. Just like Stonio, someone else can trust that the next oops will never happen. Call it cynical, I call it reality.

I don't think he will stay clean either. He has a long career in front of him. I don't think he can do it. He burned up nearly all of his chances in his first two years in the league.

Half of you are saying that you don't care what he says, you've heard it before, and that you need to see him on the field to believe it. This is exactly what he's referring to when he says he'll go back to the team with no words. He knows all he can do at this point is man up, move on, and prove it.

Also, Bryant was hurt for the first 4 weeks of 2014 and then was held out an extra 2 weeks because he wasn't up to snuff yet on the offense. Then he had like 4 TDs his first 2 games.

It's been reported today that Bryant has in fact already applied to be reinstated (for next season, of course). Hopefully that means he is confident that he can pass the many drug tests which would start soon (I presume he has to pass multiple tests before Roger would reinstate him, but I don't know that for sure).

Not sure but I think he is tested randomly even though he is suspended.
