Any word on Tuitt or Green

He is dead cap of 3.52 million next year. too much to swallow, but my experience says that unless he retires you will get the same deal next year. Year after that he is 2.4 dead cap. Dump him then unless there is a big improvement.

I told you the Steelers can get out of this contract easily, and they can. A $3.52M cap hit to get rid of someone that would cost $5M that year and $9M the next 2 years, isn't a bad value dump if Green can't return. So the Steelers would save $2.625M next year and have no dead money moving forward. Can you find another player next year who can play TE for less than $2.625M? Yes you can, in the draft. The only problem with the draft is rookies are question marks.

Here's something the Steelers can do that would maximize the cost savings next year. They can cut Green after June 1st (if he doesn't recover from the concussion, and save $5M by spreading the cap hit of $1.187M over 3 years. Though I thought you could only split the remaining prorated signing bonus over 2 years. These sites aren't always perfect on the cap rules. So if the bonus is split across 2 years, it would be a $1.78M dead money cap hit for 2 years, and the Steelers would save $4.4M from the cap next year.

Injury wise. Green made progress this week. He essentially cleared concussion protocol by practicing 2 full days in a row. After his second practice, or Friday morning when he came back in, he must have informed the team doctors that he doesn't feel right, so he is now back at square 1 for concussion protocol. He has to clear a full practice without a recurrence of headaches. He won't play on Sunday IMHO.

The good thing is we are not missing any starters due to injury (Green is only a part time starter at best). Grimble is back, so it lessens Green's loss, and the way the Outlaw is hurdling defenders, I'm sold on him being the guy for this playoff run! Mathews injury is lessened with Tuitt returning. Maxey has been doing well for a call up, but Tuitt, Big Dan & Hargrave will anchor the D.

The report is up to date. I'm traveling to Pit tomorrow, so I'll project inactives tonight:

Probably so, it's a playoff game, and I'm not really worried, but that's what worries me haha

I'm lying thru my teeth by game time I will be a basket case

I look at Green at this point as a band aid that needs to come off and maybe it is best to slowly take it off so you can save a little hair on your *** but who wants to wait that long so you grip it rip it and just move on with your day.

Exactly. It was just the ridiculous of the refs calls. The one with coats in the end one for face mask that's in front of the ref! What's a call one time isn't the next. This is what makes fans pissednoff and makes it look bias.

It doesn't look bias. It looked rigged or heavily slanted to produce the desired results. Antonio Brown about had his head torn off reaching that ball over the goaline and no call at all. You got refs all around too. Couldn't possibly be ignored.

Green is an asset when he's in there, but he's missed so much time this year that it isn't really a big deal that he's out. If he plays, that's a bonus, but now that he's out it's business as usual. I feel for the guy and with these concussion issues, I wouldn't be surprised if he hangs them up.

Can't say I am not disappointed with Green, seems more fragile by the week....................

What's troubling is now every time Green gets even a Normal ding to the helmet he heads to the sideline and is stuck in the concussion protocol for 3 to 4 games. Save him for the Chiefs and the Pats if we advance? I have a hard time believing he'll be able to finish those games unless he shows evidence of substantial improvement soon.

I am hoping that Jessie James turns out to be a Hines Ward type of player, you know, someone who the keep trying to replace year after year after year and can not.

I hope Jesse James can fill the void this Sunday myself...

Every time Green got hit, I swear it looks like he is going curl up into a fetal position and start crying.....I held my breath with every hit...

this guy definitely looks weak to me..

Who's the stupid one here, the guy that signs a deal for $25 million or the team that paid him $25 million knowing he has a history of concussions and is still recovering from surgery? I think the Steelers panicked after Heath retired and made a knee jerk decision on Green.

Well, when someone withholds information from you, it's hard to get a definite answer as to their condition. I think it was pretty obvious that was the case when ARII stepped in in the summer and said something. Then news comes out that it was a sinus issue, followed by an ankle issue. That's what happens when someone lies to you. Sure, take what you can get. But he's still a dick in my opinion.

His contract is fine, and he is some kind of threat!! Just ask others.

Man what a high cost for low production from Green. A broken player from the get go. Can the guy even take contact anymore? Each concussion makes the next one easier to get for a lot of folks. I think I'd hang it up if I'm him.

situations like this are why I don't get too bent out of shape about the Steelers lack of big time free agent signings.....

Agree 100%. I don't dislike the guy but I disliked the signing. Besides, James was developing just fine so I didn't see the need for another TE. We're going to end up paying several million against the cap to get 3 or 4 games out of him.

If Green helps us win a super bowl this year, he is worth every penny.

I hope so.

Green practiced this week but MT has him listed as questionable.

Cope has already explained that his money situation isn't hurting the Steelers in any way. In the few games he has played if you haven't seen a difference in him and the other TEs I don't know what to say. Does his injuries suck?? Hell yeah. But I can see why the steelers were intrigued. He is different then our other TEs and makes that group better when he plays.

I don't disagree but the guy has hardly been able to play.

lets just hope he can actually PLAY more games than not, going forward. Heaven forbid we fans have the nerve to expect a major FA-signee ("major" for us, anyway) to actually be available for the majority of the time, particularly in the playoffs.

You can ask for a billion dollars let me know how that works out for you

Green practiced the first 2 days but DID NOT practice Friday. Most think that is a set back. He is listed as questionable. Hopefully not a set back and just a day of rest. It really would help to have him able to play. He creates matchup issues our other TE's do not.

He had a set back in the protocol. While I agree him playing isn't impossible you might as well say it is. How can he get clearance. Physical activity of practice set him back. There is no more physical activity to move him forward in the protocol. He isn't playing.

Ladarius Green DNP Friday, still in protocol

Ladarius Green (concussion, questionable) did not practice Friday.

It's a downgrade after Green practiced in full Wednesday and Thursday.

Coach Mike Tomlin said on Friday that the team didn't get the results they wanted from Green after Thursday's practice, and he remains in the league's protocol. Green apparently didn't gain clearance from an independent neurologist and probably won't play in Sunday's Wild Card game against the Dolphins.
