It's put up or shut up time

I hope the offense and defense are very aggressive early. Set the tone. Conservative hasn't worked the past 3 games, time to get back to blitzburgh style defense and let Ben pick them apart.

The first game we ran ran, then 3rd and long pass, that's way to predictable. How'd we do once we sped the offense up and went no huddle, the offense Ben wanted to go to in the 3rd qtr. Coates dropped at TD that would've put us within 7 with 6 mins left, there were several drops in that game, but yeah Bad Ben!

Wasn't the Vick game, the one where Tomlin went for it on fourth and short, and eventhough we were doing well in the running game, he put the ball in Vicks hands and he missed an open wr for a first down?

Those arent exactly elite QB stats.

Then remember these 'almost' INT's from the last game?

If Ben can give us at least an average performance, we can win this easily.

I guess my point is, that, rather than the Ravens having our number and "oh, woe is me", we shot ourselves in the foot and, as a "coincidence" Ben's numbers are bad since no other QB's have passes dropped.

Yep and no other qb's have almost picks either uh?

I would say Todd Haley and whoever is involved in the game plan. The ****** Eagles played them to the point where they almost beat them. They are a sub .500 team. Other then the special teams gaffes the Pats ****** roasted them without Gronk or Amendola. Yeah if guys are fumbling or Ben is throwing brutal picks, that is on them. But if they are going to trot put the same ****** hope to win 17-13 game plan. Yeah. Its on the coaches.

We didnt run run pass in the last game

I don't like Dwill and Bell in the backfield together, you're not going to successfully run out of that formation, as neither of those are going to lead block, nor do you want them too. If you put them both back there and split Bell out, then they'll match a db up with him. Your best bet of getting Bell on a LB is have him run routes from the backfield, look for blitz pick up, then leak out as a pass catcher.

Lets say the Steelers are in a 2 back formation with 1 TE and AB/Coates out wide. Logic would at least at first dictate the defense brings their base in. 2 CB 2 Safeties. So the Steelers split Bell out wide. Who follows him? Ravens have 4 LB's on the field but only 2 safeties. Lets say the Ravens spot Bell and DWill so they play their dime. Steelers split Williams out. Who follows? They have the DB there for that so logically he follows. Then Ben has Bell go to the other side of the field for an empty backfield. Who follows Bell?

This isn't that complicated but the Steelers lack of imagination just pisses me off.

I assume so, but if you want to bring up our drops, need to include their drops of our passes, too.

Everyone wants to say Hairball outcoaches Tomlin...but Ben has sub 70 ratings in two games we lost. Must. Find. Some. Other. Reason. People seem to shy away from criticizing Ben because.....Ben is fantastic, but when he has a bad game, it is hard for the rest of the team to overcome. Sometimes when Ben is having a bad game, he starts trying to do more and sometimes it works and sometimes, it doesn't. Dropped passes can happen because the passes aren't as crisp as they should be, or are juuuuust off target.

Is our Defense better now than when we first played them? Seems probable. Will Ben have as bad a game, at home, as he did in Baltimore? Seems unlikely. If he does, the D may be playing enough better to still squeeze by.

Two things are certain from this game: If the Ravens win, it is Tomlin's fault, even if Ben throws 4 pick 6's and if the Steelers win, the players were able to overcome Tomlin's idiocy or because of something Munchak did, or because their WR's dropped a couple of passes, etc.

The only reason I brought up drops because someone said he should've had 3 picks, but didnt bother to bring up the dropped td by Coates, or the drops early in that game that also contributed to "bad Ben". I didn't see anyone saying Ben played great vs them, but when something isn't working, weather it's the running game like last game or Ben isn't playing well, then it's the coaches job to change it up before it's to late like the game at Baltimore.

Thing is this. I would say that Ben had a horrible game against the Bills. Worst of the season. And on paper in my opinion the Ravens aren't that much better than the Bills. So it is kind of incumbent upon the coaching staff to help put Ben in the best possible situations and if he doesn't have a great game to work around that a bit. I don't think anyone who has watched these last several matchups against the Ravens, particularly the debacle that was last year against a Flacco less Ravens could possibly say this team has not been badly out coached.

Would you venture to say the our defense is BETTER NOW that it was when we played the Rats the first time?

Is it safe to say that Ben ALWAYS plays terrible when returning from an injury?

These are not excuses - just pointed questions seeking your opinion...

Ark read my mind...

The dropped td by Coates, and passes by Bell, James and AB in that game were right in their hands, couldn't have been handed to them cleaner. Why does a dropped pass have to include well Ben didn't put it in the right place, why can't anyone say the pass catcher flat out dropped it?
Yes our defense is playing better now than then, Tom Brady threw for a whole 186 yards last week and won because of his defense, should he get that win stripped from him?
Is it safe to say the up pace no huddle offense worked alot better vs Baltimore in that first game than the slow plodding offense did?

There will be no number 89...we don't have a number two receiver worth a ****....

Put Nix and two TE's in there and run Bell and Deanglo 40 times! When you dont have a 2 TE or fullback look, put Hubbard in as the extra lineman..

If you want to get the Yinzers loud and vocal.....
Pound it till they cry UNCLE!!!

Now that's STEELER December football.

**** all that rah rah 'Steelers-football' ****

Their secondary is a disaster, ATTACK THEIR WEAKNESS! Forget the chest-bumping smashmouth ****!

If you try and out muscle them you are playing their game. A sure recipe for disaster is a matching FG small ball game.

Spread them out, no huddle up tempo from the start - get a 3 TD lead and coast.

I agree 100%. If you want to make this a double chin strap game and slow the tempo, it really plays into their hands. Tempo, tempo, tempo. Muddle huddle, no huddle. Use personnel groupings to force the match ups. Even if we don't have the best receivers after AB, spread them so they can't put two and three guys on Bell. Run him out of gun behind that offensive line. Leak him out of the backfield for easy check down yardage. For God's sake The eagles nearly beat them in Baltimore last week. Look what they and the Pats did and replicate that. Don't keep doing the same **** you have been doing. It hasn't worked at all.

I totally agree

Coming out slamming the ball up the gut for the first half plays right into their strength. Don't do it! Don't get behind, mix it up, keep them off balance and score early and often.

Chicken **** football...
Start out with a fullback, 2 TE's, and an extra O-Lineman and one wide-out and go right after their assess!

I meant to comment on the Bills game. I think Ben said something afterwards that it was nice that the D could put it together and keep the win even when he was playing badly. That game was one of the few when the rest of the team could overcome a bad game by Ben. Hence, the comment that, I think our D is better now than in the first game. Or seems so, anyway.

****** refereeing in the game bothers me than the player's execution and/or coaching issues.
