The three huge penalties in the first half were disturbing. The facemask on Tuitt that gave the Bengals a first down on the first series, the PI on Artie which handed Cincinnati a first-and-goal, and the chop block on Bell which negated Brown's touchdown were all unnecessary and costly.
I give Tomlin credit for whatever he said at halftime, after lamenting those penalties in his interview on the way to the locker room. "We gotta play cleaner," he said. He misspoke about having a turnover on the deep pass interference play, though, because Mitchell dropped the potential INT.
Once they got things cleaned up, it was impressive in the second half -- The Steelers outscored them 15-0, only allowed 38 total yards, and scored points on all of their drives (except the last one, where they got the ball on their own 16 and ended up on the Bengals' 9 after taking nearly 6 minutes off the clock to end the game). Amazing job, considering how shorthanded the defensive line is right now.
