I say he played a hell of a game. Did pretty well vs Steve Smith who probably thought he'd come in and eat Burns' lunch. Nice pick which looked to be a product of film study anticipating the throw vs that blitz and having Flacco roll out and try to come back. I am the first one to say I was not high on this pick but so far he's proved me very wrong.

Yeah, I am waiting for that but he missed on the jam, gave up the inside, tried on an ill advised jump to knock the ball down and missed. I blame him for the catch but Mitchell for the touchdown. He's supposed to make that tackle.

I thin k Burns should be kept in as the permanent starter. He did REAL well for a first time starting rookie. Definately some growing pains but well worth the up-take !!!!

Salute the nation

Burns looks like he will turn into a solid corner.

Burns gave up some receptions and getting beat by Wallace was a tough one, but he had some excellent coverage and the pick was solid. He's developed very nicely.

One good thing this year is it looks like the corner play on both sides is improving.

CockBurns might turn into a lethal combination.

:whoo:

As I said during the game thread, I like the scrappiness in Burns. He has a good nose for the ball and he did fairly well. Of course Wallace took him to school on that 95 yarder. I liked how he fought Steve Smith for the ball and continued to fight for it. This kid has heart.

Thought he looked solid for a rook in his first start. Happy about that.

He had a solid game. Steve Smith wasn't 100 percent but he did his job for the most part. The defense as a whole played winning football.

Of course he gave up the inside, He had safety help...

Kudos to Wallace, that ball was not thrown well, but he reached for it and kept in stride.

Burns looks like he has a great future. The defense as a whole played a lot better. They actually made some real tackles and hit some people. Hell even Harrison had a sack, strip fumble. Unfortunately the ball didn't bounce our way on the play.

Burns looked pretty good overall. ****-Burns must be our starters moving forward. They are definitely the best on the team. Golson might get another shot to at least practice next year or he may never suit up in the NFL.

Sure Golson will get a shot, but have zero confidence he can stay on the field. This cat is looking every bit like a bust.

The Wallace catch was a nice play by Wallace and Mitchell was suppose to be there for the tackle.

that play was more about Mitchell suck, than Wallace being great.......

I like Burns. long arms to contest catches, great speed, very fluid in his movement...kid has a great future...will only get better with playing time.

finally a 1st round corner that has huge pontential....this secondary will get much better as year goes on.

Sean Davis has a pretty good game as well yesterday. Rats offense was handled easily, unfortunately our offense **** the bed for 3.5 qtrs.

The Steelers were never in that game from start to finish

garbage points made it look closer than it really was.....

Sean Davis learned to make a tackle yesterday. Did you see that one tackle he made? Lifted the guy up and planted him. Up until know he shied away from tackling a little. Looks like he learned something over the bye weekend.

Davis was a good tackler in college, SS is his best position. And the Steelers should leave him there and let him grow.

yeap, not much to discuss there. He might even play FS in a future, he has range, but not yet

Back to Burns, I'm amazed at how fast he has learned, even as a late 1st rounder CB might expectations were way lower, I thought he was a kid that would need a whole season to see the field as a player getting heavy snaps

I like his ability to break on the ball. INTs will come, but breaking up a key 3rd down pass can be valuable as well

You can see that for once, we actually have a young CB with some ball skills. Yeah, he made some mistakes, but he's a rookie making his first start. I'm very pleased with how he's doing so far. I'd like to see Gilbert get a bit of a chance on defense as well.

Why not give Gilbert a try in the slot?

or does Gay stay there?

maybe he just isn't panning out

"shrugs"

Probably same thing as Boykin. He's not a Tomlin favorite and is in the doghouse.
