Green to practice next week PPG

I'd look for him to be available to he activated after the bye week. I highly doubt he'd be able to play next week vs NE on one week of practice.

Bouchette: Ladarius Green To Practice Next Week

BY ALEX KOZORA OCTOBER 12, 2016 AT 04:09 PM
Ladarius Green will return to practice next week, according to a report by the PPG’s Ed Bouchette.

This comes from Green directly, who told Bouchette he’s “definitely excited” to get back on the football field. It will be the first time he’s practiced with the team since being signed in the offseason.

Few players have had such a murky and controversial journey without ever appearing in a game. Green underwent ankle surgery in January and likely played a role in the decision to place him on PUP before camp. But there were numerous reports that Green suffered headaches stemming from two concussions in 2015 which contributed in the decision to keep him on PUP for the first six weeks.

Green and the team have either refused comment or mildly denied those reports throughout the process. Green declined comment about concussions when asked by Bouchette today.

Should Green officially return to practice next week, that’s the soonest he is allowed to return, the team will have up to three weeks to officially bring him back onto the 53 man roster. For Green, that would mean immediately after the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 9 game against the Baltimore Ravens on November 6th.

It’s some much-needed positive news on the injury front for a team that’s been hit as hard as anyone in the NFL this season.

Green signed a four year, $20 million on March 9th.

That's good news! We're all anxious and excited to see what he can bring to an already potent offense. Gives Ben a big target with speed down the middle. Hopefully he stays &ealthy. I refuse to spell it correctly for fear of jinxing the guy.

Beat me to it.
We're 4-1 without you.

I don't know why we as fans are so hard on players who are injured. It's a brutal sport. Especially when we fans will stub our toe and think it's the end of the world lol. Maybe that's just me

Pittsburgh Steelers prepare to unleash the Ferrari as Ladarius Green plans to return to practice next week

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense is already good, and it could be getting a whole lot better when Ladarius Green makes his debut in the black and gold.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers signed former San Diego Chargers tight end Ladarius Green as a free agent, the fanbase and players were ecstatic. None more excited than quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The big-play quarterback envisioned those deep seam routes to Green which gave him a 14-yard average per catch in 2015.

When the Steelers signed Green, they knew he was coming off an ankle surgery which would hold him out until training camp. Throughout the offseason workouts of OTAs and minicamp, Green was a sponge taking in as much as he could without taking physical reps. Throughout this period, Roethlisberger compared him not being able to play to staring at a Ferrari locked up and not being able to drive it.

Well, despite Green's ankle not just keeping him out until training camp, but throughout the entire preseason and the first 6 games of the regular season on the PUP list, it might be time to get that Ferrari out of the impound lot and get it started up.

It was reported Wednesday that Green plans on returning to practice next week, the first week which he is allowed to return after being placed on the PUP list.

"I'm definitely excited to be back out there," Green told Ed Boutchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Wednesday.

With the conspiracy of headaches, and his ankle injury, behind him, Green is ready to get back where he belongs -- on the football field.

"Definitely, I've been sitting around too long. Everything is going really good."

Green isn't the only one excited to get back on the field. Both Roethlisberger and David DeCastro can't wait to see how his skill set can transform an already lethal offense.

"It's awesome, it's huge," DeCastro said. "The stories you hear about him and watching him on tape, he's a tremendous athlete. Anytime you get another weapon like that, someone else for Ben to get the ball to it's only going to help us out."

Said Roethlisberger, "He's a weapon, a vertical threat, a guy who can help stretch the field, create safety issues, open things up for other guys. So I think there's a lot of possibilities."

Some fans wondered if the Green would play again, after the rumors of him possibly contemplating retirement, or at least not play throughout the 2016 season, but it is a pleasure to see Green reportedly coming back to the football field.

It should be noted his return to the practice field doesn't necessarily mean he will return to play at that time, but rather could mean he has to work his way back to game shape, as well as timing with the Steelers' offense.

Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest on injuries and news surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If Green can prove to be a weapon demanding a safety at all times, Brown just gets a whole lot more open

Well, he should know the playbook fairly well. It will be a matter of getting his game conditioning where it needs to be and his timing down. Outlaw is performing well so no rush, but welcome to the field LG.

It would be great to see what a Bell, Green, AB, Bryant and Coates combo could do the defenses...gonna be awhile for that though, it may just be too much for the football Gods to ever allow.

Sit his *** down! Keep him on the bench. We've moved forward at the TE position with #81 and 85!!! He stiff armed the organization by not giving the whole story on his previous concussions, we really can do without him!

All I can say is that if they want to continue to double team AB, cool, good luck with that. This will open up more formations with 2 big TEs.

The problem now is that Grimble would probably need to be sent down to the practice squad when Green comes back. I doubt he clears waivers after the way he has played. Either that or cut David Johnson. Might be better just to cut Johnson and keep Grimble out there IMO.

He most likely would come back after bye, but if he has his legs they could have a couple specific plays for him against NE.
If he comes back strong, we could have our best TE group ever. After Heath retirement, I thought TE would be a weak point
and it could turn out to be a strength. Just being back practicing forces defenses to prepare for him.

I think Johnson should be inactive because of Nix comes back he can do everything Johnson can and play SP teams

Will be kind of nice to take e "Farrari" out for a spin. See what we've got but carefull not to floor it out of control. I think he will help this offense out a whole bunch in only by addition of other teams having to account for him.

Salute the nation

I'm talking roster spots though. Right now Green isn't on the active roster, he's on PUP. Once he clears PUP we have to release someone or put someone on IR. I am thinking we can release Johnson and keep Grimble. I like the potential from Grimble and do not think he would clear waivers to get signed to the practice squad. Nix is getting a hat as soon as he is healthy to play. He's a beast.

Maybe he could have helped us out in that eagles debacle? Jeez, I swear with some of you guys its like everyone who is injured is ******* your wives and making you hold their beer while they do.

Jesus Christ the visual has me at work crying

Hines raises an interesting point, and yes, the Steelers have to make a move at TE when Green is activated.

1. Jessie James - He is starter capable and will not lose his roster spot. Even when Green comes back, I can see JJ continue to start while working Green in with subpackages. I say this with confidence since JJ is receiving close to the same snap counts that Heath used to get. Also JJ may be the better blocker between he and Green.

2. Grimble - probably #2 on the depth chart as we stand today. And looks to be the most explosive pass catcher of these 3. Not as confident of a blocker, but not terrible at it either.

3. Johnson - I think initially, he was going to go. Then he played this year, and wow has his blocking improved. Improved to the point where he is our best blocking TE. He is position flexible, offering help at FB or TE, and is also a capable pass catching threat as well.

It's going to come down to Grimble and Johnson. If Nix isn't 100%, you can't cut Johnson yet, since the team will need a fullback. If the team wants more versatility in the passing game, they will keep Grimble over Johnson. I think Grimble is the only player who will be PS eligible, so that will also be a factor, but with what he has shown, will he clear waivers to get there?

Maybe by the time he is back our CB position has cleared up and Shabazz back to ps?

Or Gilbert gets healthy and send Feiler back to ps or with Finney's solid play we IR Wallace. We have options depending on how the injury situation unfolds over the coming weeks.

Frankly I'd cut Green.
