Shazier mentioned as possible best player in the NFL?

I was watching Inside the NFL (used to be on HBO, now on Showtime).

The fellas were discussing who was the best player in the NFL, and one of them (Boomer?) mentioned Shazier as a possibility.

I was somewhat stunned, because:

1.) I didn't think many outside Steeler fans/media were that aware of Shazier.

2.) He has been hurt too often to be in that discussion up to this point.

Don't get me wrong: If he can stay on the field, he will earn his stripes as one of the best ILBs as he has some very special skills - namely insane speed, quickness and instincts.

But, at this point, to be mentioned as possibly the best player in the NFL, sorry dude, got to play more than half the games, if he even plays that many.

Does anyone have any possible solutions to this dude avoiding injuries more? Didn't Polamalu used to get injured more frequently, but found a way to avoid them for a pretty long stretch at one point?

I'd agree with your point #2.

Candle man Shazier can definitely light up the field, but one blow and he's out...def #2

I was curious if anyone in here was aware of leading techniques that could help reduce injuries.

I think I am about to land a client who is involved in PEMF technology. I know some NFL teams already are using it, including the Falcons. I wonder if this technology could aid Shazier in reducing injuries, or, at least, quicken the healing process. PEMF is real and it works.

He is very very good when he is on the field. His speed and improving strength are great and unmatched. My opinion is the same as everyone here. He's been in sweatsuits for nearly half of the few seasons he has been here. I don't think he has reached his potential yet.

Not even close. He is hurt too often and his body of work just does not compare.

I like Shazier but would not have drafted him. I would have preferred Baltimore's C J Mosley instead. Mosley is a beast and he's not injury prone like Shazier. I don't like going after all of these athletic super fast, slight of build type players because of that very reason. They cannot stay on the field.

Don't get me wrong about Shazier. Sure he has talent but what good is it in sweats. Nope! Jones and Shazier were not the picks that we should have made in y opinion.

As for Boomer saying he's possibly the best player in the NFL. One too many hits to the head for Boomer.

Not sure I understand your logic:
1.) CJ Mosley was far more injury prone in college than Shazier was.
2.) CJ is only 9lb's heavier than Shaz.

LOL, please with that silliness.

Mosley lacks the speed to cover the quick running backs and tight ends in the league. Honestly, he's just a grade better than Vince Williams.

I like Shazier, but I don't watch a game and say "man, Shazier really took over today." He makes some splash plays, but he's not a force on a consistent basis like Harrison was when he was arguably one of the top five guys in the league.

yeah, we had players for Mosely's spot, we needed someone on the other spot.

I disagree, to a point. There have been a couple of games where he was making plays all over the field. But he then ends up getting hurt.

I have saw him take over a couple games....against San Fran last year, and the playoff game with the Bengals he made several key plays. Hell the first game of the year against Washington he was all over with tackles and had an INT.

Yeh..he's good and all that but I think he's too light in the *** to play ILB. He gets hurt too often and should be moved to safety..or maybe OLBer. (sarc)

I say safety. Take Mitchell off the field and let Shazier be athletic at that position

prettiest china doll on the shelf, just can't let the kids play with him.

Mosely's colloge injurys have no bearing on his NFL career. He plays every week. Does Shazier? Weight wise there is no way Moseley is only 9 lbs heavier than Shazier. I don't care what weight the Steelers have him listed at, since those are generally inaccurate.
Mosely has done pretty well in the interception dept. and he's all over the field. And most importantly, he's in the correct uniform every week and not the sweat pants collecting a paycheck for yet another knee injury. Do the Steelers now pony up for a second contract for a guy that can't log s full season? I hope not,

Right, a couple of games. I'm talking about you get consistent production on a weekly basis.

Yet somehow Deebo at 38 almost never misses a game unless he breaks his face.
