NFL threatens to eject Antonio Brown over Muhammad Ali cleats

Insanity has a point, and AB is exposing a loophole. His shoe color has to match the team's colors. White, Black, and Yellow. He's done that with his past 2 designs. That's apples to apples. I have heard players get fined for writing things on their cleats, that are the same color, so perhaps the loophole isn't that large, but it is a grey area that needs clarification.

By the refs telling him to change them does explain the "grey area" I would think. Unless he gets permission from the NFL.

Fines are one thing. Ejection is something totally different. .

What about the uniformity of standing for the national anthem?

The NFL is a business and the uniforms help represent the product they are selling. They have every right to dictate how that product looks to their labor pool.

They provide the national anthem merely as a courtesy to the fans. Players do not need to participate(legally)

Just like i don't have to participate in the bible study that some of the dildos where i work at have once a week.

These people are contractors like i am yet our employer provides them with a room so that they can engage in their stupidity. It'st a courtesy that's all, just like the anthem.

What is your point? I pointed out to the poster that they were not kneeling because they didn't like to stand for the National Anthem.

I thought it was clear. They want to use their position as an athlete to bring attention to the problem? We're they doing that during the protests? Would people not know they were athletes? Nope. What were they doing all during presea son to bring attention to the problem. I never heard anything.

So, these guys can't think of better ways to bring attention to the problem? **** them. That is what I mean by, "I know why they SAY they are doing it". Doesn't mean I buy their BS.

Everyone here is saying they support the NFL uniformy policy. Uniform means the same. All their team mates are all standing for the anthem and these ********* want to set themselves apart. Yet, we are all supposed to gushave about how brave they are to take a stand and respect them for it. I dont.

They are setting themselves apart from their teammates. Isn't that what AB is doing with different shoes?

I wish AB would choose to proceed through the guidelines the NFL has in place for wearing custom gear. I remember Cam NNewton had to change his headphones during pregame warmups because of the brand. The NFL has always been strict about uniforms because of the sponsorships they are in bondage too. It's about money, nothing more nothing less. The challenging thing is that it is a game! Time and time again people keep comparing their 9 to 5 jobs to the culture of the NFL. It isn't apples to apples. Over the years players have introduced some element to the game and at first it's provocative. But sometimes evolves to being the norm good bad or indifferent.

Again. The poster stated that the players kneeling don't like to stand during the national anthem .....I told him that there was a reason they were kneeling. Again. I don't know what your reasoning for quoting my post is?

I believe the reason you gave is what we are told is the reason. I believe it to be BS. Also, I hardly think the poster really meant "they don't like" to stand and, also knows why they say they do it..

If the insufferable **** support's them, I know I'm on the right side of things.

Just hope the NFL/Goodell , don't determine a big game for us, due to AB pushing the envelope this season.

AB needs to find a way to "express" himself without causing harm to the team. Pretty simple !!!!!

Salute the nation

I think all the pissed off players should get together and quit, just to show they are serious

Ahhhh. Well you would be wrong then.

That works for me! Don't like the country get out.[/QUOTE]

I don't think this whole thing has anything about not liking our country. Some of you people are way off base on the issue I believe. And I just want to say that I do not support any player kneeling for the national anthem. I will also state though while I feel they could make a statement in differently I do respect their personal right to make this statement. That is what makes our country the best.

And Antonio Brown does not like wearing the normal, boring NFL-approved shoes.

So why is Brown subject to ejection and those who kneel for the anthem patted on the back as if they are doing something brave?

omg ,, hes only saying... they aren't kneeling because they are tired of standing!!!!!!!!!!!

they are kneeling because they are **** heads.

And the NFL wonders why ratings are down.

I'm going to disagree. Please let me explain why. Do we really want those protesting the national anthem to have the green light to put messages on their shoes too?

Under normal circumstances, I'd be okay with it, but not under current conditions.

I cant even begin . They have a uniform policy. There are no messages circumstances or not that the nfl wants on players shoes. ON A TOTALLY DIFFERENT SUBJECT,,,,, there are players kneeling during the National Anthem. The NFL has failed to have a policy , and also failed to act on this since it surfaced.

Coach,, you disagree, because you're in front of a computer,, your wife isn't around and the sky is blue.

The NFL takes uniforms and shoes very seriously. Those protestings are well aware of this, however, if Brown can do it, why can't they? Ratings are down, I bet if allowed some players would go politcal on their shoes.

The NFL has been unflinchingly rigid in its enforcement of the dress code, and has previously drawn criticism for uniform fines. In 2013, then-Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall was fined for wearing green shoes to highlight Mental Health Awareness week.

Last year, Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing "Fine the Cure" eye black for breast cancer, Steelers cornerback William Gay was fined for wearing purple cleats for domestic violence awareness and Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward was fined for wearing eye black to pay tribute to his father, who died of bone cancer.

Given the NFL’s history of inflexibility, the players wearing the cleats on Sunday all seemed fully aware of the fact that it could cost them.

PS: I can disagree with anyone regardless of who's around, or what color the sky is. That's just how I roll, and those who know me best appreciate the honesty. However, there are times when it's best not to speak if you know what I mean :)

We absolutely know how you roll coach. Maybe youll appreciate this honesty. You're an attention ***** who makes useless usually dumb posts for no reason at all other than to have a moment. You don't do it maliciously,, you cant help yourself.

As for when to post,, you should follow George Costanza's life advice. I really need to just unfollow you because you post incessantly and I shouldn't really care.. But **** every post...

that seems VERY unlikely....

You obviously have a reading comprehension issue. So of course to you it would seem VERY unlikely. ...but again you would be wrong.

Straight up question, Do you want NFL shoes being political advertisements? Show us where you stand. Your reply will tell me everything and no reply on stuff you bumped tells me even more.

I don't agree with the NFL and it does seem stupid on their part. But really a lot less stupid than their stance on Heyward paying tribute to his father. That was unbelievable.

Norm in the Netherlands: Ray, Tomlin’s been quoted as saying he’s waiting for clarity from the League office before approaching AB about his TD celebrations; after yesterday, what’s your take on this: How can a (respected and well-liked) coach neglect to address systematic penalty-inducing behaviour, and / or is MT dissembling?

Ray Fittipaldo: Brown didn’t celebrate yesterday. And apparently the league sent a video to teams reminding them what’s acceptable and what’s not. It could be that someone from the team got to Brown and convinced him this was silly behavior. Don’t assume that wasn’t Tomlin. It was Tomlin who ordered Brown to remove his Muhammad Ali shoes yesterday when Brown first refused a league employee.
