Pick up Keenan Lewis after the Saints part ways and he heals up?

Hopefully they sign him !

IIRC, Steelers didn't offer him a contract. IMO, that was because they had no intention of getting into a bidding game for him. At the time, I think Lewis had very, very few INTS and they were looking to players to create turnovers.

In addition, Cortez had performed as well as, and in some cases, better, than Lewis. No idea whathat happened to Corte after that. Lewis had a good season the next year.

Seems like if he was worth having, NO would want him back. If it ain't a lot of money, it'd be OK.

Yeah Cortez is one of the big disappointments. Seemed like he was progressing nicely then totally lost it. As for Lewis he would have to pass an extensive physical to even get a look, but I think it is too risky.

What's his physical status? Is the injury he had something that you can come back from?

My thoughts as well. If healthy Lewis is our 2nd best corner. But he has had injury issues. Even at 80 percent of his former self he's worth a roster spot.

U
hh, no. 80% Lewis is not worth a roster spot.

We don't know if Lewis would still be the 2nd best corner. We all thought that about Boykin, too. If he is the same as when he left, yes. He played 6 games last year. Maybe he will jump back up to 100%. After Green, I hope the FO is more leery. "if he is healthy" may be a pretty big question mark. Can't always avoid people who have had an injury, thought, I guess.

I just recall him making it known he wanted to go to NO.

He is visiting today in Pittsburgh

I think that is true, and, I believe it is why the Steelers didn't make him an offer. Why get into a bidding war for a guy that wants to be somewhere else. And to get a guy for whom, it seemed, you had a clone already on the team.

Lewis did have one good season at NO.

I hope we can sign him. No need to rush him back from his injury let him heal up..this way we don't have to force Burns into action..we would have some good depth

Reportedly six other teams are intersted

He stunk in NO - he needs to come back with a discount ticket.

I thought I read that he was good in NO. Really wasn't following him after he left but I thought I read that somewhere..

Get a deal done with Lewis and lets go win the ******* damn SB

If he can pass a physical great. It adds depth and helps us keep Artie off the field until he is ready. If he isn't healthy, pass.

He was hurt a lot and played hurt often. He hasn't been healthy in a while.

CB Keenan Lewis is headed today to visit with his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, per source. Lewis has interest from up to six teams so far, per source, after being released by the Saints on Friday. The 30-year-old will have to show that he is close to returning from a hip injury that has plagued him for the last year -- and which ultimately became a sticking point in New Orleans. But when healthy, Lewis played as a bona fide No. 1 cornerback for the Saints from 2013-2014. NOLA.com first reported the Pittsburgh visit.

Going to come down to whether he is healthy or not

Lewis to Josina Anderson
Lewis to me: "Pittsburgh gv me a great opportunity. I respect that organization & I definitely want to give the sit'n strong consideration."
And on XM Radio
Keenan Lewis: Taking it day by day. Will let the training staff & coaches decide when I can play. I think I'm close & my hip doesn't hurt.

In 2012, his only season starting with the Steelers, Lewis had 23 passes defended, a very high amount.

Then we exited via free agency ( a mistake ), and tore it up on New Orleans having 4 Interceptions in 2013, and followed it up by two more than next season in 2014. 2015 was a bad year for Lewis, he played din but 6 games and only started one.

When healthy Lewis was a big corner with pass defending skills! But a hip injury can be tough to come back from. If he can't run and change directions the way a corner needs to, he's a sub package zone player at best.
