steelers like to carry a veteran backup and a developmental guy. They appear to be all in on Landry as their developmental guy. Most teams only keep 2 QBs these days so i'm thinking the steelers will just stick with 2 and somebody on the practice squad.
I only see them signing a QB if a veteran gets cut. Here's a few possibilities.
Josh Johnson - 3rd string in Balt.
Austin Davis - 3rd string Clev
Chad Henne - Jax drafted Brandon Allen and may go with him as backup. Henne would be the type of vet the steelers like
Nick Foles - the chiefs have 5 QBs on the roster. They drafted Hogan from Stanford who figures to make the team. They also have Tyler Bray, Aaron Murray and Foles. All 3 could get cut or they could keep 1. Bray and Murray are probably not experienced wnough for what the steelers want. If Foles is cut, he's a possibility.
Matt McGloin - Oak drafted Connor Cook. If they like him then maybe they keep only 2 QBs and let McGloin go. McGloin has starts under his belt and learns offenses quickly. I think they will keep McGloin though because Carr and Cook is probably too young at the QB position.
Mettenberger or Kellen Clemens in San Diego. Again, if they only carry 2, then one of them may be an option, especially Clemens who is more experienced, but Mettenberger has starts.
Brian Hoyer - Chicago has a couple of young guys, David Fales and Connor Shaw. Shaw has looked good at times.
Christian Ponder - San Fran may be stuck with Kaepernick as a backup. Chip Kelly may like the mobility of Jeff Driskel as a 3rd stringer over Ponder. Ponder has quite a few starts under his belt.
