Is this a draft you would trade up in?

Now, most of the time any kind of trade talk during the draft means trading down. I think this draft also bodes well for trading down as there is tons of talent in rounds 2-4. A few extra picks could go a long way towards restocking the cupboard. That said, there is some interesting talent at the top of the draft as well. My question to you is twofold. Would you trade up, possibly giving up a future first or a second in this years draft? And if so, who are you taking?

If the front office can find a partner that will trade with them where the Steelers feel good with what they have to give up for the player they want at the spot where they trade then yes. Other wise no.

Perhaps I should rephrase the question. A team in the top 10(doesn't matter who, you choose) is willing to trade with you, do you pull the trigger? And who is worth it to you to make such trade?

Top 10? I would pass. We would have to give up way to much and i don't think our FO would ever pull off a deal like that and for good reasons.

Everything depends on how the draft falls. I'd love to trade down with a team looking for a QB and pick up some middle round picks but what if there's a player we just can't pass up there. Too many moving parts

Stand pat if the value is there at DE/DT-CB-S

trade down if it isn't

that missing 5th comes to mind.....

I doubt I would trade up in the first but I'm not opposed to throwing in a 2017 2nd or 3rd to move up very high in the 2nd round for the right player.

Realistically we can go BPA with every pick this year. I wouldn't say we are stacked everywhere, but if we're healthy thus year it's ours to lose.

This has to be at least the 20th time we have discussed this. We don't have enough picks to trade up and there is no one remotely worth trading away a future 1st rounder that we need. So, no, we should absolutely NOT trade up in this draft. Trading down and gaining another pick or two would be fine but I doubt they would do that either.

The only player who I think it would be worth for the Steelers to trade up for is Hargreaves. This is a deep class, but very weak at the top. There's a lot of good players that will be taken throughout the rounds, but I don't see a lot of players with "Star" written on them.

IMO, none of these guys are bona fide first rounders. anyone from the top 32 to mid 2nd could go in either round.
yeah, i understand the hard-on love affair for Bosa and some others in the top 5, but outside that... the talent pares down rather evenly.

I would trade back and add 2nd rounders....

if we trade our 1st round pick, I want a 2nd and at 4th and 5th at the top of the round, OR a 2nd, 3rd and 6th at the bottom of the round.

But I think the board will fall for us to pick up a nice CB, or pass rusher in round one.

So pretty much everyone is a no answer as far as trading up. I tend to agree with this sentiment. However if one of Ramsey or Hargreaves fall a bit I might be interested in moving up a bit. I don't feel Mackensie or WJIII are worth 1-25. Barring Billings being available there, I trade down.

If a lot of the good corners are still there at the end of rd 1 I would trade back and try to get a third rounder from some team that may want to snag a qb at the end of round 1.

We need all the picks we can, but if we think there is a day 1 starter at a position of need that we can trade up to get, then I'm all for it. I'm not worried about building for the future, we need to win now.

BPA provided value and need is there, otherwise trade DOWN if you can find right takers.

No sir, not this year...

I'd trade BACK to the late first or early 2nd to pick up a couple more picks...

Ahem...

IF Mackensie or WJIII are there at 1.25 - you can best bet that one of them is the pick. Especially if Billings or another prized DT is gone...

This draft is verydeep in dbs and dlinemen, two positions of need... No way do i tradeup unless a specific player had hof potential in a position of need and was available for value

Like maybe a 2nd & 4TH ???

Yep - and I'd do everything I could to get a 5th round pick back too. I think, like it was said earlier, there is a lot of parity after the top 32 players are off the board - so, finding some treasure in the mid-rounds looks to be a "sure thing"...unless his last name is "Jones"...

It's a need pick at that point IMO, not value. Billings or trade down for me...

Everyone here "knows" that DB is a need pick. (I'm trying to stop laughing)...

Here's the thing - and this is my personal opinion - like last year, I prayed we would pick Marcus Peters because I could see something very special in the kid when I watched the tape. I see that again in BOTH Mackensie and WJIII. I'll be so bold as to compare Mackensie to Peters and WJIII to a "playmaking/catching" Ike Taylor. Passing talent like that, last year, was a mistake. Doing it again, this year, would be just as bad - no, catastrophic...

Heh. I wanted MP last year as well. I Like WJII and Mackensie both. Just not at 1-25. If Billings is there, he's the pick. Otherwise trade down a bit and then take one or the other. That's all...
