I'm glad we weren't the ones to overpay for an old safety, look how fast the Great Polamalu declined.
if those numbers are correct he'll be getting aproximately:
2016: 5,75M in base salary + 3.25M in signing bonus
2017: 2,4M in base salary + 3,25M in signing bonus
2018: idem
2019: idem
so if you cut him after 2017 when he'll be 33 he still will be getting 6,5M in dead cap

I was lukewarm on Weddle. He's better than what the Steelers have but I don't think he's great. Ravens overpaid for a guy who does not scare me.
Kind of got cold feet about him. He's never played a full 16 game season in his career. Makes me very nervous
Even if that's true we have Villanueva, who could be the starter without Okung being signed, having Okung just puts us in a good situation at LT. If he stays healthy great, if he doesn't Big V starts.
Not worth that kind of money, glad we didn't reach.
You mean, " I want to go where they will pay me the most..... " can't blame the guy, he got his last big payday with big guaranteed money. Now he can go do nothing like the rest of the rats secondary and still get paid.
The structure would be more like
2016-1m base, 8m bonus 3.0 cap hit
2017-4 million guaranteed base/roster bonus, 6 million cap hit
2018-6.5m base. 8.5m cap hit, cost to cut 4M
It's basically a 2 year 13M deal or the "guaranteed" money might not actually be guaranteed vs a wide set of conditions which means they could cut him before some 2017 guarantee comes due and take a dead charge of 6M on 2017. Making it a 1 year 9M deal

I thought you had to spread the signing bonus through all the years equally and if the rumors say that 13M are guaranteed in signing bonus then you have 13/4= 3,25M each year

It said he got 9m this year and a total of 13m guaranteed. So 9m guaranteed this year is probably a 1m guaranteed base and a 8m signing bonus. The rest of the guarantee is 4 million which is likely guaranteed only for injury(so basically not guaranteed at all) and becomes fully guaranteed at a date early in the 2017 season. The Ravens don't have a ton of cap space so it's likely he counts at around 3M this year.
Unless it is a 10 year contract- 9.66 million X 3 Equals 29 million. Talk was something in the range of 5-6 million was his asking price. Math isn't adding up.
