It just goes to show how so much of this country is stupid, lazy and ignorant.

The bitching that Terrell Owens isn't in the Hall of Fame ---- even though he had "better stats" than Marvin Harrison is asnine at best.

Yeah, he had great numbers, and he only fractured the 49ers, Eagles and Cowboys locker rooms completely. Oh, they had a great team in 2004, perhaps the best year of McNabb's career and he had a great Super Bowl performance vs. the *Pats -- wonderful! The team was already good -- reaching 4 NFC title games in a row and he didn't even help them win the only one they succeeded in. He missed a good portion of that year due to injury and when the Steelers gave them an ***-whipping for their first loss and first taste of adversity, he started crying like a baby even then.

You can call me a yinzer or a homer or whatever, but give me Hines Ward any day -- who while Owens destroyed the Eagles 4 year run in 2005 bitching and complaining about a contract and everything else: Ward went into a year upset about his contract and resolved it like a professional and by the way -- had a great game in the Super Bowl actually WINNING it and the Super Bowl MVP Honors to boot.

Ward didn't have the stats or even talent that TO had, but he did more to make his team successful over a long period of time doing things that don't show in a stat sheet, be it calling the play in the huddle when Ben was struggling as a rookie on his first road game or blocking someone into oblivion -- and being a team leader with locker room problems I guarantee none of us will ever know about.

Between Owens and Moss, I'll never care about their numbers. Moss quit on teams and wouldn't run over the middle. Owens destroyed franchises he played for with his antics. The Hall of Fame deserves guys like Stabler who gutted out wins, Dungy who turned around the Bucs mess into a championship team and Ward -- because it's not all about the #'s. Its about impact.

**** Owens and his crying ***.

I agree personally, but let's be honest....numbers rule the day in the voters minds rather than character. I'm 90% sure that Owens will get in next year...two at the longest.

When you look at pure production and talent, Owens is right up there with anyone who ever played the game. If you are going to take character and locker room chemistry into account, then he should never make it. If not, he should have been first ballot and easily ahead of Harrison.

Like most every wr, he gets to wait like everyone else... First ballot wrs are few and far between

Owens is a first ballot HOFer, from a pure performance perspective, but the guy was a totally selfish dick during his career.

He'll get in, but the writers will make him wait for awhile.

The more interesting case will be Randy Moss. Beyond being selfish, he tended to be an extremely lazy player, which Owens was not.

Shouldn't a HOF'er be someone that you could never describe as a detriment to the team he played on... which he most certainly was more than once. He wouldn't have played for 5 different teams if he wasn't. I'm sorry but a guy who got ran out of town on a rail everywhere he went because of the negative impact he had on those teams should never go into the HOF unless he pays his 12 bucks like everyone else.

TO should be in and will get in.

No way Moss is not in first ballot.

The reason why Owens didn't get in is because he was a locker room cacncer. It was all orchestrated by Rosenhaus to get him new contracts, and they made a lot of money because of it.

He is a HOFer and he will get in. Just not this year.

Owens was better, and more deserving, but Marvin will straight up put your body in a dumpster. Which one you gonna vote for?

Marvin is the real life Charles Bronson "Death Wish" character. Thugs, and drug dealers beware, there's a new sheriff in town. Marvin tolerates no bullshit in his area. I can think of a couple of Pittsburgh neighborhoods who could use him.

T.O. has B.O.

I was mad when the Bus didn't get right in. He wasn't a cancer though. There's more to football than numbers.

SO, with this logic, BEN is a first round ballot HOFer. Bad character miss judjement in his younger day, is the ONLY thing that could hold BEN back from frst ballot HIF, todaY.

The BUS made it deservingly so. Great numbers, great character. He needed one more SB ring to be first ballot. One of my favorite players.

It's been said already - stats-wise - TO's entry into the HOF is a no brainer...

He will get in very soon.

Excuse me while I whip this out...

The NFL needs to figure out what they want their image to be. Right now, it's closer to the WWE than it is to professional golf. I saw a couple articles chastising fans for booing Tom Brady at the SB (loved it!). Called it classless...really? This product the NFL is delivering is classy? Bull crap! There are heroes and villains, and the NFL uses that to promote itself, yet when the fans decide someone is a villain that the NFL sees as a hero, suddenly the fans are classless.

This ties in with the TO situation. The NFL needs to decide what the Hall of Fame means. Does it stand for numbers or is it for those that stand above in all aspects of the game...performance, leadership, integrity, sportsmanship. If it's for numbers, then go with that and induct the character deficient delinquents that sell you tickets. If it's for something more, then do something to weed out the thugs.

You can't glamorize thuggery then demand your product be treated with class.

He may have been an *** off the field, but numerically he is one of the top five WRs to ever play. THAT is the criteria to get in. It's time they take the voting rights away from some sports writers in football and baseball. It's a joke, and I couldn't stand T.O.

Yards: Owens
Catches: Harrison
YPC: Owens
TD: Owens
Murders: Harrison
Gang affiliations: Harrison

So it was 3-3 on the major stats for WRs.

What exactly did Ben do? He wasn't a team cancer like TO, and was never charged with anything, ever.

Charged or not, he needed to use better judgement and not force ******* into mens toilet stalls and play "guess the wheenie flavor" game. We all know, Ben did SOMETHING with those women....whether it was sexual assault or not, he should've been a lot smarter.

Yeah, but he's distanced himself pretty well from that. If all goes well, he'll get another good 5 years or so of playing time in and by the time he's Hall eligible, that whole situation will be nearly two decades old. As long as Ben stays on the path he's been on, the writers and voters will only be focusing on the wins and numbers.

The Hall of Fame is for the game's greatest of all time, and I'm not sure that Terrell Owens qualifies...regardless of statistics. Statistically speaking, Dan Marino is a top 2 or 3 quarterback all time, but there are about 4-5 you'd name before you get to Marino. Manning is statistically superior to Tom Brady, but who's the better QB? Who would you want on the field with 1 minute to go? I'd want Brady...

Thing is, Owens was a complete head-case his entire career, he divided locker rooms, sat out, and had his career cut short not because he couldn't play...but because NOBODY wanted him. If you're a Hall of Famer...you play until you want to stop. Somebody will sign you. Not the case with Owens.

Say what? If not statistics, what exactly should be used for determining the greatest players of all time? DUI's? Based upon the rumors I've heard, he clearly would not qualify using that criteria. Maybe he had a bunch of parking and/or speeding tickets. Considering that 'm not intimately familiar with his driving habits, he might need to rely on some other arbitrary, non-football related criteria.

I agree with you about playing until you are ready to quit. I'm surprised more of the greats have not played into their 70's & 80's.
