Just talked to Kelvin @KelvinBeachumJr on and he made it quite clear that he is a LEFT TACKLE. So much for the moving him to guard narrative

So if the Steelers do resign him, I take it it will be for LT depth or the start....

That's too bad, he could have provided much needed position flexibility, possibly replacing Foster at LG if it shaked out that way. Of course he's looking for LT money, not sure the Steelers will overpay to keep him.

What's interesting about this is, how does the rest of the NFL view him? Do 31 other teams really see him as a bookend left tackle? I read somewhere that he was the shortest starting tackle(either left or right) in the entire league last season. I wonder what his market is really going to be.

Listen, before his injury, a lot here talked about how good he was at left tackle. He is not a bad left tackle just because he stipulates that. What remains to be seen is how he performs POST injury. I think he is a little smallish for left tackle, but IDEAL for multiple "utility" type player. Will we overpay........... i don't think so. Will the market over pay, DEFINATELY as that is why Beachum designates left tackle, it's about the MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ can't blame him.

Damn the salary cap anyway....

Let him walk, resign Adams as the swing tackle. If AV ever was lost for the year they would prob move Gilbert to LT anyway, and Adams would go to RT. I would be ok with that scenario.

Beech just priced himself out of being a steeler. Steelers will allow him to play the open market. If no one is interested, we may get him back cheap before camp.

yeap, only if no one else wants to sign a long term with him due to the injury he could be back in black and gold

You know on Madden, I just set the 3 year salary option and start working the sliders... If it's a deal I can live with, great. Otherwise - I just let the guy walk. There's a bug that pretty much lets me trade for one of the top 2 or 3 picks every season anyway so it's not like I can't reload on the line every year or three anyhow.

Ya. I say just Madden it. Easy Peezy.

What?

I feel like the market isn't going to be that great for him.

As a person, and player, I like Beachum. But, I think he's being a bit greedy, personally...

I hope we have a plan to keep the OL is a stable state.

I agree, coming of an ACL and he's only 6'3" 305lbs. I think he's a pretty good player, but there wasn't a huge drop off from him to an inexperience Villenueva.

No doubt listening to agent. The price of a starting LT vs. a utility guy who might play OG is HUGE.

He's a good LT but certainly nothing special. If he can be re-signed within reason yes, by all means but do not overpay this guy. I can live with Villy for another year.

He's trying to still cash in. I'm sure he's still pissed he didn't take our offer because I doubt he gets what we offered. He rolled the dice and rolled snake eyes.

If you think he's small as a LT compare him to NFL or even Steeler guards. Can see why he doesn't want to go there. And I'll let Munchak decide his value thank you. It would be great to have him even for a year if we're making a run. Ask the Patriots!

Beachum also said he'd cross the bridge when it comes in regards to playing guard. Essentially, if he came down to it, he'd listen if it was best for the team. But what else do you expect him to say? He played LT in college and has been a starter for the Steelers at the position. It is also the position that maximizes his value on the market. I think he's a bit overrated given his PFF ranking in the past, but he's also a guy I'd like back if possible.

I like him but I thought against the pass before the injury he was just so-so.

height
injury

I don't think he is going to be a highly sought after player.

Decent LTs are hard to find. I won't be surprised if another team signs him to a big contract. Steelers will have to sign AV and either Foster or another LG.

HE is getting very bad advice from his agent....or his ego I getting in his way..

His value is in his versatility..

talk about cutting off your nose in spite of your face..

I read somewhere he was rated fifth best NFL tackle in 2014. Some drop off before the injury this year.

He is an overachiever and that's great for him and the team he plays for but he is not stellar and shouldn't be paid like one

Our FO has heard this cineol before. T^hey will deal with accordingly. Will he sign... will he not, in either case the STEELERS will offer a "fair" deal, take it or leave it. I hope he takes it, then elevates his game some.
