NFC championship game

Panthers did show some classless action at end of game. I live in Raleigh and in eight years I have seen maybe ten jersey's for the Panthers, that is two hours away. Get the picture of what you see two hours from Pittsburgh, Pirates, Pens and Steelers wear everywhere. Every Grandmother in Giant Eagle has a Steelers shirt of some kind. NC will jump on the bandwagon now.

Prior to the Panthers arrival in 1995, this area was a Redskin market.

In Charlotte and Raleigh like most sunbelt cities there are large contingents of Steeler fans because of the collapse of the Pittsburgh economy in the 70's and 80's

To a lesser degree teams from northern climates have fan bases in the south, in particular, the Bills, Browns, Packers, because many businesses escaped the North for the lower taxes and wages that were offered in the south at the time. This was the pattern prior to NAFTA.

Those bonds with the sports teams of our youth are hard to break, and with the Steelers they are virtually unbreakable. That is why you and I live in the Carolinas but frequent a Steelers Message Board.

Building a NFL fan base in the south, after allegiances have been formed, and the market is already saturated was never going to be a walk in the park.

I applaud what Cam has done, establishing Panther Stadium as "Our House" by taking down a Packers banner and most importantly establishing a tradition that will endure. By giving the ball to a child after a touchdown he has created the Panthers version of the Lambeau leap.

Couple that with winning and time and their fanbase will grow.

My daughter is 5 (and incidentally, also blonde). When I saw this the first time my heart swelled up.

It's a great tradition to have, I hope it lasts.

Cam Couldn't even take off his ******* doo rag for the national anthem before the champ game. **** him, he's a punk.

His fall from grace will be as quick as his rise.

Panthers remind me of the '85 Bears. Awesome team, going to win the big one this year, probably won't win another one for a while.

Nobody in the NFL has done more for Veteran awareness than Jared Allen. Dude is a patriot, and as a wartime vet myself I really appreciate his frequent USO trips. This is Jared during the National Anthem

I like her technique.....she keeps the football close to her body........no way she is fumbling that..........

I'm still getting used to an expansion team being in the SB

How long ago did they expand? Like 15-20 years? Be different if this were their first year....but they have been in the NFL a decent amount of time.
