New coaching hires are laughable.....

McAdoo and Koetter were both safe hires for their teams and that's about it. They wanted to "change it up" without completely starting over. Chip Kelly I feel can be a great coach but I don't let him sniff the front office. He can have input but I would have a GM run the team and Chip run games/practices. Doug Pederson was a career backup QB. But you tell me how a guy sticks around for 12 years and plays under Mike Sherman and not have something going on between his ears.

I personally feel Tomlin is an overrated coach. I feel he fell into a great situation and has been riding the Roethlisberger coattails since he was hired. I mean it's not his fault Cowher quit and Art the duece hired his token to prove his progressiveness. If Tomlin really wants to prove he's a great coach I want to see a win on Sunday with no AB, Williams, and a banged up Roethlisberger.

The record tends to indicate Tomlin and Rooney have very little to prove. And how do you ***** Tomlin's job of getting us here without Bell, Pouncey, Beechum, and Ben for 7 games? Don't let facts influence your opinions.

While I agree with the premise that Tomlin is overrated somewhat, that is an almost impossible standard for any coach. Would Belechick win out in Denver in the playoffs with no Gronk, a banged up Brady and 4th string RBs? You can say, yea, he won that year he had to play Cassel. But he didn't. He didn't even make the playoffs.

I do think the coaching searches of these various teams does reveal that most of these hires are just blah. Nothing really exciting. Maybe Jackson in Cleveland as I think he did nice things in Cincy. But it illustrates something I have been saying about Tomlin. Maybe he isn't the greatest, but dammit, if you are going to make a move it had better be for something better, and I just don't see it in these hires.

Thanks for identifying exactly who you are, how you think and what you actually took away from Tomlin's hiring. Some would be upset when people expose themselves. I think it's great. Let's me know who to take seriously and who to look to for a good laugh.

Let me put it this way. I HATE the Rooneys. I pray they sell the team. I'd rather have Dan Snieder or Jerry Jones own them. They are uppity, entitled, hypocritical ********. There hasn't been a Rooney worth a Damn since the old man died.

Now onto Tomlin. I don't hate him I just think he was hired because of the color of his skin. He replaced Bell with a proven former first round pick. Beachum and Villanueva I feel are products of Munchak. He was without Ben for 4 games where he went 2-2 with a loss against Baltimore.

Look at the patriots record this year and ours. You think we've had injuries? Lmfao the pats have had way more injuries. For the love of God James white is their starting RB Edleman and all their receivers missed multiple games. Gronk has been out. Their line is banged up. Defense banged up. We've had the injury bug they had the injury Ebola virus.

You think he's not the epitome of the Rooney affirmative action rule? He was a ****** defensive coordinator that the Vikings were happy to get rid of. He boasted about his #1 run defense but that is because he had the worst passing defense on the NFL so everyone just threw all over them.

Anyone who actually paid attention to the Steelers and the hiring process of Tomlin would know that Ron Rivera was interviewed BEFORE Tomlin. The idea that any owner of an NFL franchise would hire someone based solely on the fact that they are a minority with no other qualifications is flat out stupid. I laugh at your proposition and your thought process. However, if the Rooneys had only wanted to satisfy some perception that they had to hire a minority because they championed the "Rooney Rule", they would have hired Rivera and been done with it.

Some of you Jabroni's just can't get that through your thick skulls. Nor can you get over the fact that neither Grimm nor Whiz were in serious contention for the job. With good cause it seems; since Grimm has never been hired as a HC by ANY team and Whiz has been quickly run out of town in the two HC jobs that he has held.

Really.. Dan Snyder or Jerrah... with all the success those two have enjoyed in their tenures... You want Dan Snyder or Jerry Jones. Why don't you go for the trifecta and include Mike Brown in that list???

First, Dan was the architect of the 70s dynasty, not the old man. Second, if they had a billionaire **** heel like jerrah or a spoiled brat like Snyder, they would move the team to a bigger market in a heartbeat. No thankyous no goodbyes nothing. **** that.

Grimm was, and seriously probably was going to get it... the strong rumor, I mean rock solid one is he let alcohol get in the way... the guy was as hard core a drinker as there was, and if the Prusuta Story rumors are true, and I suspect they were because I heard them from a lot of different people up around Latrobe and the North Side who have a clue, then there is a real reason he went from a highly sought after candidate for a HC job to an afterthought in a single season.

Tomlin may ultimately prove to have been the best choice for us, but Rivera is certainly making a real case for himself... Whiz Took the sure thing in Arizona and ultimately was sold out by the cheapskate owner... In Tennessee he never got a real shot. How that would have changed if he had ownership support from the get go, who knows
All of the candidates that year were solid

Yeah. Because they are building winning teams every year and with multiple SB victories. While I do not like the recent meddling I believe the Rooney's have been doing I will pass on the 2 you mentioned without a thought into it.

What were these exactly? I know there was something but seem to have forgot.

Damn the Steelers looked good today. Did you guys see that "great" decision to go for it on 4th instead of the FG on that first drive. Or how about that punt on the 34 instead of going for the FG. But glad he saved some face kicking the meaningless FG on first down the last drive. I guess we could have used those 3 & 3 points from earlier, huh? Oh, well Token Tomlin will be back to **** the Steelers over again next year. Yay!!

They didn't lose Brady at all. Yes, they have had injuries, but they are getting healthier at the end here.

I don't know who had the worst of the injuries. They both had them. But I would take a situation in which I had injuries, but my franchise QB started every game over what the Steelers had.

Look, man. I scratched my head once or twice yesterday, too. But getting back to the point of this thread which is the coaching hires. If that is what is out there, it really is nothing special. Nothing special may be a compliment. You don't fire a good coach, warts and all, for this.

Yes, but when you have nothing special at head coach does it matter?

Why? They get interviewed based on being a minority, per NFL law.

Dude don't try to argue facts with libs. They are so open minded and progressive that their heads are too full of **** to be bothered with those things called facts.

I hear that Titans' fans are super pumped about the Mularkey hire. He finished 2-7 after taking over for Whisenhunt and the die hards are already talking about the possibility of three, perhaps even four, wins next year

Fact is that an interview does not mean that you get the job. So, interviewing a minority to fulfill a rule doesn't mean that you have to overlook whether or not you feel they are qualified, fit in with your organization, etc. and just GIVE them the job. If that were the case, then all the open HC jobs would be filled with minorities because the NFL REQUIRED the owners to GIVE their HC job to a minority. It doesn't work that way.

That's fact.

So then the "interview"doesn't have to be anything then. You could just tell the "candidate" that you like Floyd and play Animals for em, then send them off and hire your REAL candidate. On what planet is this effective or even just not-stupid?

Forcing me to spend their time pulling an unknown minority name from a hat and pretending to interview them, because I could be a racist, is stupid. Being the minority who was fake-interviewed would suck. Those too are facts.

Browns re-hire their old DC from the Titans, and the Titans promote LeBeau to DC.

Just saw this. And you're exactly right. That's what does happen. It's why some minorities refused to interview with the Giants this year after it was widely reported that the Giants had already settled on their OC as the next HC and were just going through the motions.
