Tomlin: 6 out of 9 seasons in playoffs

Coolie called Tomlin a God. Given that coolie is a mod, and the most intelligent poster...it's true shades is a god. And I shall follow. ;-)

More stupidity from Tomlin today, going for 2 when we were up 11. Makes no sense, if we fail it is still a two score game, a TD, 2 point conversion and a FG. If it succeeds 2 TDS are required just like if we kicked the extra point. Guy is not very smart and tries too hard to be the man, one and done once again under this idiot.

The dumb **** he does on a weekly basis hasn't improved. He is what he is as a game day tactician, it's been damn near a decade. This team played in some big stretches without Ben, Bell, Bryant(Where the **** is he?) and various others and regardless of how are in the playoff's. Not great I suppose, but any time you make the playoff's anything can happen.

I was in Indy that year when they kicked the **** out of us at home in the regular season before we won it as the six. If Williams is out we're ******, if he can play and be effective I'll take my chances this season. Nobody is dominant in the AFC.

the butthurt is strong in this one

Honestly after the loss to the ravens last week I mailed it in, the only small glimpse of hope came from the jets ****** playing on the road. Congratulations to the team, with that record they deserve to be in

Its hazy on that.... honestly if you are up 11, the other teams need a TD, 2pt and field goal to tie, if they score twice and kick the XP both times, you still can tie with a field goal, so failing on the attempt wasn't too critical if it came to pass
If you take the XP, you force them to go for two tds, and still can take the lead with a field goal even if they get both
Going for the 2 points just means adding a field goal forces them to have 4 scoring plays... 2 tds and 2 2pt conversions, plus it did put more pressure on them too....

It wasn't a horrid choice, it wasn't a great one... not exactly where complaints should go...maybe they just saw something in their defense that made it worthwhile

It was a horrible choice, going up 12 is way more important than taking a stupid chance to go up 13 which still gets you beat by 2 TDS . Typical Tomlin, always the stupidest guy in the room but too stupid to realize it.

Always something......dig for anything to criticise the guy......are you guys fans or goddamn critics ?

Its not as bad as you are making it out to be... especially when XPs aren't gimme points anymore.... that's a stretch... if you want to ***** about something go with personnel moves... this is a non starter

yep, going for 2 was very stupid. There is a big difference between being up 11 and being up 12. Being up 12 means they need 2 TDs to beat you. Up 11 and they can take it to OT with 1 TD and a FG. Late in the game there is no practical difference at all between a lead of 12 and 13.

The issue is that if somebody brought this mistake up to Tomlin he would dismiss it and talk about his gut.

see what is great is you can have your opinion and you know what...it doesn't ******* matter. Much like everyone else here, nothing you post means anything to how the Rooney's run the team or how their coach runs the games. So keep bitching and moaning while the Steelers prepare for the playoffs

Could be worse, we could have Jeff Fisher as our Coach 4 Lyfe!

Yeah, at the time I didn't really think about it but it seemed like an odd place to go for 2.

Greatest. Coach. Ever. Now stop it. /sarcasm

Just cause something works out doesn't make it smart. Same with declining the penalty on the first TD. Or trotting that stiff Blake out I'm not expecting perfection. Just learn from your **** mistakes and don't put yourself in position to be a needless goat. The play is to go up by 12 there. That is simple math. WTF does 13 do for you. Have a brain.

Cleveland wasn't playing for OT... all game they were going for the throat... I don't think this was a big deal....we convert 2pts at 70%, we convert xp's at 93%. I'm far more concerned about starting blake and going conservative with a cold RB when Williams went out

Yeah, forgot about that one. Inexplicable.

OT wasn't really in the picture and 13 doesn't give you anything but an advantage for a tie if they miss an extra point with two TDS. Its just another Tomlin dart board move.

A "Pro-Tomlin" thread becoming a ***** fest?!?

How shocking!

A "***** fest"?

Do you agree with calling a timeout from the 17 on first down with over a minute left in the half?
Do you agree with giving up a down for one extra yard?
Do you agree with going for 2 when you're up by 11 that late in the game?

How shocking that you'd ***** about people voicing these legitimate concerns with questionable coaching decisions. In any thread. You'd also be whining about it if someone had the audacity to start a new thread...how could anyone possibly criticize Tomlin after a win?

Like I said: All your buddy has to do is get lucky enough to win another Super Bowl, and I'll stop bringing up his ****** in-game coaching choices. Simple as that.

I saw Mike McCarthy piss away a timeout with his team down 7, and just over 2 minutes left in the game. Coaches screw up regularly.

a lot actually, but we expect perfection and never want to deviate from the expected plan... imagine if We had run that Miami play on the fake punt... people would howl about that and for great reason

The two point conversion worked though. So your reason to ***** is what exactly? There are no "ifs," the ******* play was successful. Also, don't forget that the steelers have gone for two more than anyone this season and, if I'm not mistaken, broke the record for successful two point conversions in a regular season. Seems to me that you also somewhat answer your own question: If two touchdowns still beats you, wouldn't you want to keep that gap as close as possible, if you can control it? Especially if they actually did score two touchdowns AND convert both of their two pointers. If that had actually played out, I feel your tune would be juuuust a little bit different had Shades not gone for it.

Let's not stop there, maybe Tomlin should have onside kicked too, just in case the Browns scored 3 TDs in the last 10 minutes.

The 2 point conversion attempts throughout the year show that Tomlin is simply gambling. Most 2 point attempts were at odd times that did not really make sense mathematically. That's the point. This guy is using his "gut" to decide when to go for it and that is not good.

, and I don't want to hear about his quarterbacks sucking, since he's the one who picked them).

Same can be said about Tombert's ENTIRE defense. His specialty is supposed to be defense, yet outside of a couple of players (Heyward, Tuitt) it pretty much sucks. Thank goodness for a 37 year old, a free agent from Buffalo and a 3rd round pick who are all performing better than our last 3 #1's.
