13th loss to sub .500 team in 4 seasons....

The Steelers were widely hailed as the team no one wanted to see in the playoffs.

But it’s their habit of losing to the teams that don’t get that far which could doom them.

According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Sunday’s loss to the Ravens was the 13th loss to a sub-.500 team the last four seasons, which is more than enough to make it more than a statistical fluke.

No matter HOW you dice it, this Tomlin-coached team chokes vs. bad teams. It is pathetic and irritating.

How on earth can ANYONE claim this doesn't fall on the head coach?

You have to be purposely obtuse to not see this disturbing trend falls on the head coach. I am sorry to say it, but at this point, I am going to back off on caring as much about this team, until we have a coach in place who isn't so inept. No sense in getting fired up for this team when it's obvious they will continue to not do what is needed to contend. But at least Tomlin looks cool in his shades and spins a mean headset cord. Oh, and his pointing to the camera thing makes him super cool too. We got that going on for us, I guess.

I was wondering when the next Tomlin thread would be made... it's been an hour or two.

Ben is obviously making a lot of money being paid off to lose to these inferior teams.

Now go to 98 to 00 and tell me how many losses we had to inferior teams

Those were simply bad teams; of course they lost to other non-winning teams. There is no correlation to those teams and the Tomlin teams. This team proves it's good enough to beat anyone, but then underperforms vs. bad teams.

How much more obvious does it need to be before everyone can grasp this reality and its ramifications?

This article just came out today, hence a new thread.

Lol.. it's the same thing being talked about in all other Tomlin threads.

Somewhat. But this one focuses on the fact that he specifically consistently losses to bad teams; the other threads I read touched on it, but were more focused on him being sloppy in general, or that people gripe because they are racists. This thread covers that he ***** the bed all the time vs. the worst teams in the NFL.

The fact that the media in Pittsburgh, which is guilty of softball questions is catching on to this makes me believe a bad loss to the Browns could make Art Rooney his boiling point. What if its 14 losses to sub .500 teams in the past four years?

Enough already. As for this thread, its new information. No one has to reply or read it.

You're speaking in hindsight..in 1997 we went to the AFC championship no one thought those were bad teams..And everyone thought those losses were to inferior teams

Yep, that's MT. Not talking into his headset and often looking like a deer in the headlights when adjustments should be made. It would not surprise me if the Steelers lost that game. The video doesn't tell you that.

I am glad for this thread. Just shows proof to the complaints. I was wondering the same thing but was too lazy to do the research. Good find. Now I am not on the "fire Tomlin" train yet, but this has to be something that has to be addressed somehow, someway by the Rooneys cuz OBVIOUSLY Tomlin doesn't feel it has significance.

I've seen him talk to Haley and Butler on the side line by turning around or looking beside him without the headset, does that count? or should things only be spoken through the headset?

Why do you keep ducking the damn question? What do you hold the head coach accountable for? We're not talking about Cowher. He had his time, and it came to an end. The Steelers were right to move on from him when they did. THIS IS TOMLIN'S **** SHOW! So I ask again, what do you hold him accountable for? And please stay on topic instead of ranting about Cowher.

Las Vegas insiders must love the Steelers vs. sub .500 teams, especially on the road as favorites.

The best coaches have a command presence on the sideline and talk through the heads sets often.

Cowher used to have 1 on 1 coaching with his players, spit and all including with Ben.

Tomlin does not do this 1 on 1 sideline coaching often, nor does he talk much through the headset. He seems to delegate this to Haley or Butler.

I see little coaching. Who knows what he's talking about on the side line or in the locker room. All I know is we underachieve too often.

What are you talking about? Cowher left to spend more time with his family. If he hadn't decided to leave odds are he'd still be coaching the Steelers today.

So Tomlin needs to spit more often, got it!

That is because I firmly believe that Tomlin isn't the X and O / technique answer man. His resume shows me nothing that would possibly make me believe he is. He played wide receiver/ TE in high school. He coached DB's in college none of which were big time programs where he was a coordinator or anything. He was a DB coach for Dungy in Tampa. He was a one year Defensive Coordinator in Minnesota. What on earth makes anyone believe he has the chops to be the x and o/ technique answer guy on this staff. He isn't and he doesn't and I have never heard a sound bite or gather the players in a way that makes me believe that he possibly could be. And that is not necessarily a criticism. I'm sure there are many HC's in the NFL that are like that.

This is my point exactly if Cowher wAnted he would still be here. And we all know he had his up and downs and there wasn't the same accountability for EVERYTHING that I see now. Miss a tackle Cowher fault. Worm burner Cowher fault. Missed block Cowher fault. I didn't see this on this board. That's my point. Tomlin is not the end all and be all of coaching but neither was Bill. I don't remember 47 fire Cowher threads. I do remember a thousand Kordell sucks threads though

That is not how I remember it and I have been here since Day #1

Fire Cowher threads were aplenty.

Cowher's shortfall was playing up to good competition in the playoffs. I don't ever remember him losing a game like last week to a team like that in that situation. And I would be fine with the trade off of big playoff wins against good teams if that was happening. When was the last time?
