Steelers Need To Learn Team History

I'm listening to Craig Woofley and Markus Wheaton. Wheaton couldn't identify Chuck Knoll, The Chief or Jack Hamm, among others. He also didn't know who Myron Cope was.

so you are calling a player out for not knowing identifying old timers whose names you can't even spell??? Any Steeler fan who can not spell Noll correctly is a ******* poser

They were sketches. The first was Noll. Wheaton was asked who the greatest coach in Steeler history was as a hint. He still didn't know. The Chief he was clueless on also. And he wasn't kidding ......just didn't know.

maybe the hint confused him because he feels Tomlin is the greatest coach in Steelers history

Millennials are notorious for being oblivious towards history, and it extends to sports.

I'm 26. I know the teams history pretty well. Who Doesn't know Noll? The dude built the Steelers into a dynasty in the 70's. To me however, the face of Steelers football is Jack Lambert. That picture that was in sports illustrated with the missing teeth and that look on his face stating "Bring it *****". Wish I could've been alive to witness that era

Your doing GREAT young man, just great. Know that some day your going to get a youing fan saying to you "I wish i was alive to see that ben rothlesburgher and antonio brown tantom play" and remind them of this conversation. Thank you for being a steelers fan and carry on the tradition.

Salute the nation

Will do. I've been lucky enough to witness some Steelers greats during my time. Greg Lloyd, Rod Woodson and Andre Hastings always stood out to me in elementary school. Always wore my Woodson jersey with pride. In high school. Hines, Polamalu, Bettis and Porter were the legends.

I do agree. That Roethlisberger/Brown/Bell will carry that legacy

I know Hastings wasn't the greatest. He always seemed good when I was younger lol

Raise your hand if you have researched your current employer to know who the past great managers and employees are.

Not the same thing. Knowing sports history is like knowing history. Everyone should know who the **** George Washington is, and if you don't you're an idiot.

Who the **** started McDonalds? I dunno was it Ronald?

...and no, I'm not saying McDonalds is my current employer. LOL

Noll retired and Rooney died before he was born, and he's not from Pittsburgh. Not so surprising.

So did Abe Lincoln die before Wheaton was born, and Wheaton isn't from Illinois.

Its shocking Wheaton doesn't know who these people were. I'm surprised that the Steelers don't have a new employee (player) orientation where they would watch a film about Steelers history, a film designed to inspire and instill into these players that they have been chosen to carry on this great Steeler legacy.

Agreed. Players now would play with a lot more pride if they understood the team history and just how much those uniforms make them not just an ambassador for the Steelers, but for the city as well.

I think if you play for the Steelers or Penguins you're one lucky person. That is such an honor and privilege to represent that

My last employer changed hands so many times I couldn't tell you who was running the place day to day.

On the other hand you could ask all 53 players in St. louis which city they'll be playing in next year and none of them could tell you that.
