Nice job Landry

I hate the wild cat unless you throw the F'n ball once to at least show you might do it from time to time. Even then I hate it. I would care less if we never see it again this year.

Hey Stillwright -totally agree with you. But when you bring in landry (in that situation) everyone knows what you are gong to do. Put bell as back as you (at least) have a options. Overall, wildcat is college!

Its so easy for you to say this hindsight....because had they gone with Landry in STL and he really stunk it up and threw pick 6's you'd still be calling Tomlin an idiot AND A FOOL. There's not a coach in the league that would bypass a veteran with 14 yrs experience vs a kid who hasn't taken a single regular season snap. Find a coach that would and spell him out to me.

I'm sorry, but you would be hard-pressed to find ANYONE who could perform worse than Vick did in this game, and even in the last game up to the last 10 minutes or so. No one is suggesting Jones is anything spectacular...only that he is head and shoulders above Vick as are most working NFL QBs at this point. I'm not getting carried away over Jones, I count the minutes til Ben's back in there.

If they had no confidence in Vick to run the offense, then why was he playing in the first place?

Totally agree. For God's sake, Jones had more attempts in a couple of minutes than Vick had in the whole first half. He sucks and they know it.

I just don't think you could do any worse than what Vick was doing....the thing worse he could of did was commit TO's. Maybe he was just to worried about not turning it over that it affected his entire game play. Either way i would of threw Jones in there a long time ago....for better or worse.

The thing with Vick is he can't even seem to dump it off effectively. How do you not hit Heath, AB or Bell for at least a few short catch and runs? It's like he has no awareness at all of what's happening on the field. I know he ran a couple of times for decent yards but that seems to be about the only thing he brings to the table. And that's really not much different than his entire career, except he's older and slower now.

Impossible position to be plunked into. He did about as well as could be asked.

Great for his, and the teams confidence in him.

Most importantly no turnovers. Managed the game and got some extra love from Bryant!

It just adds to the confusion, as the play calling implies that they trust Jones more.

So, why the **** was Vick playing over Jones?

Hold up playa...that's the way **** works around these parts...the "what if" game is strong here in SN..........and who's makin **** up ???

Youre right in that "we don't know what would have happened..." but theres always that contingent of negative jacks/nancies around here waiting to criticize every move this staff makes.. THAT is whats bullshit !!!!

i have been around here since Day One and criticizing coaching moves, calling for the back up QB, clamoring to start the rookies, and CB cushions have all been commonplace.

Doesn't mean that you have to make up **** to make a point.

Thanks for the link. It simply confirms that Jones made a great throw on his 1st TD pass.

The only reason Bryant had a tough TD was because he was hit in the air and driven towards the back of the endzone. The throw was PERFECT.

Oh, and did you notice Jones get the ball out on time, rather than hold it for 5 seconds like Vick?

Finally, regarding the back-shoulder throw to Brown - when the defender has his back turned and is sprinting to stay with the WR, the back shoulder throw results in either a completion or a PI. Again, a good throw and a good play.

Criticizing the TD to Bryant and the back-shoulder to Brown is just crazy, dude.

Can't we all just be happy we got a WIN... When at the start of the game it looked like we had no business even being on the field?

Well done Landry.

Take this opportunity and build on it.

So.... Tomlin is an idiot because his 3rd string QB won the game? You Tomlin haters have no idea how tough it is to win a game against a better team with your backup. Tomlin just did it with our backups backup. 31 other teams would sell their souls to have a 3rd stringer get a win. Toughest thing to do in football.

I am with you man. That 3-8 for 6 yards was certainly coming around, no doubt.

I have to believe that had Vick still been anemic with his passing and poor production on offense, that Tomlin/Haley would have made a change by 4th quarter. I said in the game thread that if the offense couldn't generate yards after the first 3 drives in the 3rd quarter, that Vick would be yanked. At some point Tomlin would have to realize that his defense cant sustain with 3 and outs giving the opposition more possessions. I just cant believe that they would've stuck with Vick goin another 2 for 6 for 15 yards in the next three drives.

I believe Tomlin hoped Vick would use last Mondays ending as something to build on which is why he started Vick this game vs Landry. Landry is getting the start next week...he has earned it.....definitely earned it

Disagree. If Vick hadn't been a little bit dinged, there is no way Tomlin takes him out but that gives him an excuse. Simply pulling him because he sucked would make Tomlin look bad for wanting and starting Vick in the first place and that wouldn't happen. If Vick hadn't got hurt he would have finished the game no matter how bad he played.

Can you be the one to explain the two point try?

I never shared the Landry hate that many Steelers fans did. I wanted to see the kid succeed and thought he might perform better with the big boys if given the chance. I HATED the Vick signing for several reasons, but like already mentioned, if you don't have confidence in Landry why is he on the team? I just didn't understand bringing in a "veteran" that is well past his prime, doesn't know your system, and causes you to drastically scale down your playbook..bypassing someone that's been in your system for 3 years. That was a total head scratcher to me.

John Gruden said at halftime last week that it was time to bring in Landry, and Tomlin's reply after the game was, "I don't listen to them". Maybe he should.

I'm glad Landry got the opportunity today, and I'm glad to see he did well. Here's hoping he can build on it. The Chiefs are starting to struggle, so it might be a great opportunity for him to build on today's success.

Oh...and i was pissed when Vick went out at the end of the first half to get checked for a concussion, the Steelers faced 3rd & 2. The Cardinals literally had 10 men in the box and 2 corners playing tight. That's all 12 men at the LOS...and the coached had Landry hand it off. Regardless of how inexperienced, these guys are all pros and have been doing it since they were little tykes. You mean you can't trust him the throw a 3 yard pass?

I believe Tomlin started Vick because he is a dumb ***. Just another in a long line of stupid decisions. I mean ****, your QB is 3-8 for 6 yards at the half. That wasn't a big enough clue? And if he hasn't had time to learn the offense, why the **** is he in the game at all?

Vick should never take another snap with this team. In fact, I would cut him tomorrow. Stupid to bring him on board in the first place.

I have no problem with cutting him and bringing in another veteran QB....

Can't argue with this entire post.

Interesting ... the "dumbass" has a team where at least 95% of the players who are playing (not injured) were acquired under his regime at 2-1 over the last 3 weeks. The defense is looking like it's coming into form nicely and the offense is finding ways to score enough points to win without Ben. There's a lot of coaches in this league that could "learn a lot from a dummy".

SO ******* glad Jones played...Thanks you, LORD.

Vick sucked ***! Hope Jones starts next week to give Ben more time to heal. Tomlin IS a dumb ******...but he's our coach...so I hope like hell the coin lands right when he's making his decisions.

Do not misunderstand. I do not think Landry Jones is the second coming of Tom Brady. The guy is average on his best day. That said, he did in a quarter and a half what Vick couldn't do since Ben got hurt--allow us to use the whole offense.

Christ, I still can't get past the logic of acquiring and starting Vick after a few days of practice instead of using him as a back up to Jones until he learns at least part of the offense. No one knew Jones was gonna have a game like today. But ****, he knows the offense 100 times better than Vick, and that alone should put him ahead of a guy that has absolutely no experience in our offense. The whole thing defies logic.

Do you honestly believe we would have gotten the same result had Vick not been forced out of the game? Honestly?

Personally, I think 8 pass attempts through 2.5 quarters tells a story that says the coaches had no confidence in his ability to throw the ball. IF that is the case, why put him in there? I never wish injury on any professional athlete, but in this case I am glad Vick was injured, if indeed he was. I am of the opinion the Steelers would have lost had he remained in the game.

If they tried him out (I doubt it) they would have to see where his skills declined.

Did they think another offseason iit wouldn't have declined even further ? ?

one of a decent amount of bad offseason roster decisions....

I honestly thought when they first signed Vick he was going to back up Jones to give us an experienced Vet in case Jones struggled. A few friends said Vick would start and I laughed at them....
