Nice job Landry

Watch that first Td again... Bryant barely could get to it... you don't do that intentionally... that was Bryant's skill and size pure and simple... hitting Brown in the foot? the sideline pass out of bounds? he is a very erratic passer... watch preseason again... Im saying that there are a **** ton of bad QBs that look great right away... if you buy in 100% right off the bat you are a fool...

In the Detroit game their QB threw one too Calvin the exact same way. If he threw any lower it would have been tipped/blocked. Same result...a TD.

Tomlin is an idiot because Vick should never have been there in the first place. He is old, slow, confused and terrible, I'm sorry that like Tomlin and Haley you don't want to admit that, but it's true.

Its so easy for you to say this hindsight....because had they gone with Landry in STL and he really stunk it up and threw pick 6's you'd still be calling Tomlin an idiot AND A FOOL. There's not a coach in the league that would bypass a veteran with 14 yrs experience vs a kid who hasn't taken a single regular season snap. Find a coach that would and spell him out to me.

I think you're selling Jones a bit short here. Yeah, he had some errant throws, but he basically came into the game cold.

The touch throw over the deep middle to Bryant could not have thrown any better, and Patrick Peterson had no chance to make a play on the back shoulder throw to AB down the sideline. The 3rd and short conversion to Miller against a heavy blitz was impressive too. He showed some things today against a tough defense that I didn't think he possessed.

It could have been a fluke, but he displayed some potential today,

again, on that sideline pass to brown... if that is any other receiver, they turn around a second earlier and the CB does have a play on the ball... though that's textbook how to play that pass for a wideout, it was a remarkable play by Brown, and a throw Vick would never make because the coverage was there... that's what makes Brown special... his ability to react at the last second and make those plays...

im sticking with Jones proved nothing in that game outside that the coaches are willing to use the whole playbook with him and not just run-run-pass.
he still has nothing that every 1st round flub Cleaveland drafted also had.

This game was sealed on Bryant making that run... and while that was a good pass, the run was 100% better....

Again, this happens all the time, a guy has a great debut game, his value skyrockets and teams trade them in the offseason for a 1st or 2nd rounder and they NEVER ever have the same success elsewhere...

I saw a meh game with him made better by great wideouts. Im not sold. we won, but I wouldn't want to see the guy start for more than a game because I think his flaws are fatal in the long run...

I might agree with you on this, but after seeing the Vick results for the past 3 games worth of play it was idiotic to wait for an injury to give Jones his chance. You have to have your QB at least have the ability to complete a pass down the field.

It is so easy for you to just make **** up that never happened.......and then speak for what others would say about it.

So knock it off.

That's BullShit..

Way to make Tomlin look like a stupid ***** on National TV. He blindly went after Vick, and NEVER gave you a chance.

Way to stick it right up his ***.

Funny thing about this post is that even keeping Landry on the roster makes Tomlin look rather smart when many (including myself) wanted him released more than a few times. Landry had a good game and provided a spark to the offense. I'd give him the chance to start over Vick next week because he earned it.

4-2 and getting Ben back soon!

Maybe Dri Archer will take one to the house next week.......

To be fair the one reason most wanted him gone was he couldn't even crack it as our back up. If he was put on the practice squad I would not of cared but he took up a roster spot when no team would of taken him off the PS if he was put there..

I'd rather the team go 0-16 with Jones than 19-0 with Vick. I don't think he should even be in the league, much less wearing a Steelers uniform.

The dude that legally shot a lion had to close his dentistry practice.

If I commit a felony related to financial matters, I lose my license. If I commit any felony, my license is subject to review and revocation, although, less likely if not related to financial matters or, particularly, heinous.

Id trade Jones tomorrow for a 3rd round pick... I still don't see what they see in him, but he grossly outplayed Vick. He had some brutal throws that the wrs made look great, but that's just it, we have playmakers at the skill positions...let them make plays...

Both Bryant Tds are a great example. the first had no business being a catch... the second was a good first down throw he turned into a huge TD

why? so we can take a big ol thick *** rod in it?

Jones can run the offense, and he looks a hell of a lot better throwing to the first team talent on our team as opposed to the backups and former Steelers in street clothes.

Barring injury's, Vick has seen his last play. I was a Landry skeptic as well. But seeing the offense open SOOOOOO much when Landry came in was so refreshing. Martavis is a beast.

Also glad the 2 pt covert didn't bite us in the ***. Brutal call. And when Vick go hurt, why don't you run wildcat on 3rd and 1??

I have to believe that had Vick still been anemic with his passing and poor production on offense, that Tomlin/Haley would have made a change by 4th quarter. I said in the game thread that if the offense couldn't generate yards after the first 3 drives in the 3rd quarter, that Vick would be yanked. At some point Tomlin would have to realize that his defense cant sustain with 3 and outs giving the opposition more possessions. I just cant believe that they would've stuck with Vick goin another 2 for 6 for 15 yards in the next three drives.

I believe Tomlin hoped Vick would use last Mondays ending as something to build on which is why he started Vick this game vs Landry. Landry is getting the start next week...he has earned it.....definitely earned it

I hate the wild cat unless you throw the F'n ball once to at least show you might do it from time to time. Even then I hate it. I would care less if we never see it again this year.

We can even have a congrats Landry thread without it turning into a **** the coach thread. Congrats Landry job well done

I find it interesting that as soon as Landry came in, the offense opened up. If they had no confidence in Vick to run the offense, then why was he playing in the first place?

Great job by Landry Jones - I was very pleasantly surprised by his play!

Hold up playa...that's the way **** works around these parts...the "what if" game is strong here in SN..........and who's makin **** up ???

Youre right in that "we don't know what would have happened..." but theres always that contingent of negative jacks/nancies around here waiting to criticize every move this staff makes.. THAT is whats bullshit !!!!

His performance may have very well been a product of facing a defense that had prepared to play Mike Vick, but I just cannot call it a "meh" game when the offense produced on every possession he QB'd.

Yeah, Brown and Bryant made plays for him, but in addition to protecting the football, giving your receivers opportunities to make plays is what being a QB is about. Vick sure as hell couldn't do it.

I'm not even remotely ready to crown Jones' ***. Far from it, but I like what I saw from him today and a little confidence can go a long way for a young QB.
