Jarvis Jones- One sack, one forced fumble

This ongoing, endless, mind numbing debate about Jarvis Jones proves one thing. The guys that don't like him do not want him to succeed. They would rather be right about him being a bad player than actually see him do well. This **** has been going on for 3 ******' years. If that wasn't the case you would just let it go, as we can't do a damn thing about it. Hell, I didn't like the pick either, and have expressed that. But for **** sake.

You must be new here. It's what we DO. Welcome to SN.com.

Not new. Far from it. But ****. I didn't like the pick of Jones and don't think he will amount to much. But, he is a Steeler and there is nothing I can do about that, but hope he does well. It is why, for the most part, I stay out of these debates. I have soured on Tomlin, too, but he is going to be here, whether we like it or not. So I largely stay out of those, too. Maybe I am just becoming a grouchy, old ****. :upset:

I either hope he proves to be more than competent this year or completely washes out due to the pending large option decision they'll have on him.

the argument i hate is when apologists act like they are the only real fans rooting for the team and those who criticize a player are rooting against the team. I can't speak for everybody but i seriously doubt that is true of anybody.

I hate Vick. Even before the dog fighting, i rooted against him but he's QB of the steelers now so i have to root for him.

Jarvis is showing signs of not being terrible this year. I root for him in the games, but after the game i'm not going to pretend he's great. I don't want another Ziggy situation where the steelers stubbornly put a mediocre player out there time and again.

The good news is Dupree is flashing some big time ability. His physical gifts are obvious. He's already effective despite not knowing what he's doing. If Dupree turns out to be the stud pass rusher we need then Jarvis only needs to be average to be effective, kind of like Clark Haggans. Haggans was good opposite Porter, but if he had to be the top pass rusher, it would have been a disaster.

Haggans was also a late round pick getting late round money.

We need to expect more of top picks. I'm glad Jarvis looks a little better but 1 sack every 5 games isn't cutting it for a 1st rounder in his 3rd year.

To me there is a difference between being critical and the constant pounding, pounding of Jarvis sucks. It reminds of the gun control people. After every incident, there they are, just pounding, pounding, we need more laws. It takes a toll. I also don't think people are rooting against the Steelers. Never said that. But I think some root against individual players, and would rather have the player fail and them be right, then the player do well. I think the proof is in the constant belaboring of the point. Otherwise, it would just be let go.

I am no fan of Jarvis Jones. I expect more of a 1st rounder, too. But if the guy shows a little life, for crying out loud I would like to fool myself into thinking positive things at least until next week. So here I was, thinking, well, Jones showed a little something. I come on here and it turns out the way it sounds he was playing a backup tackle who wouldn't start for St. Mary's Sisters of the Poor. So much for feeling a little better.

That might be fine, but I can't tell who ******* more. You guys about Jarvis Jones or the 2 old ladies who sit in one of the back pews and complain all the time they can't hear.
