Vick was brutal but......

I was watching Landry on the sideline when the offense was on the bench. He was clearly frustrated as the game drag on. I would have benched Vick and tried Landry out there but in the end Vick was able to come through. Wish he could have executed just a little better v the Rats and we'd be 4-1 right now.

As bad as Vick may have been, you did not want Landry Jones to play last night. Trust me, you really didn't. And blame the Rats game on Scobee --- not that Vick played great, but that was a really tough circumstance given that Vick had no time in Latrobe and basically had a glorified walk through as the only practice in preparing for that game.
 
If Landry wanted the job he was given every opportunity to win it in the off season and preseason.

Haleys playbook is built around Bens ability to read defenses, audible, improvise and move his pocket with defenders hanging all over him.
Mike Vick wasn't in camp, OTAs and is left handed.
Run plays and protect the football is all you can expect from him. Next week against the Cardinals the Steelers should build on the successes they had in SD. Vicks run in the two minute was overdue. If the Steelers learned anything Vicks arm is still a deep threat and his legs can still get the job done.

That young guy deserved to be cut in the preseason... one could argue that he couldnt play any worse, but there is ample proof to suggest that he couldnt play any better either

He was 77 of 353 on passes over 20yds. I think about have were from that playoff game........

I blame the FO more than Vick though. Honestly, I think he is just collecting a pay check and I do think he knows where his WRs are supposed to be. He waits for them to get open and then slings it almost like - oh hey, he looks open now.

I'm still pissed we did not sign Hasselbeck, who was the obvious choice IMO.

You say that NOW in hindsight....now rewind several weeks back and you'd hiss and strike at the notion of us bringing in a 40 yr old retread QB.

Over Vick? No way. He was 3-13 in his last 16 games and every QB he was replaced by played better than he did. So hindsight or not - I did not want Vick because he sucks. I would have taken Blaine Gabbert over Vick. Potentially, Jason Campbell over him too.

It's too bad Locker retired too because I thought he would have been a decent backup. That is the kid I would have gone after.

Are you serious?

So you think the better move would have been to get a QB who is even less accurate (53% vs. 57%) and less successful (5-24) than Vick?
 
Vick is a worm killer of the highest caliber, but he did enough to win and that's what matters.

We have the guys we have. Vick is a Steeler now, and hopefully he'll only need to keep Ben's seat warm for one more game. Then he can go back to the clipboard.

I'm glad we have him and glad we won. I also agree with some above posts that the coaching staff could do more to get the most out of him.

Kap is struggling, no doubt. But Winston and Stafford are pretty ******* horrible. Kirk Cousins is a Pick Six machine.
 
so recapping clearly Vick can not throw those timing out patterns, so Haley let us wipe them from Vick's playcalls.

Chargers dropped at least two INTs they should have had on Vick. His timing is definitely off on some of those throws.
 
Also gotta add, this is my THIRD time seeing Vick in person. First time was 2006 in ATL when we lost in OT. The game Ben got concussed and Batch came in and lit the Georgia Dome up. We couldn't handle Vick's mobility in that game, lost in OT.

Last year in NY, inexcusably we lost to a ****** Jets team. It was Vick again beating us.

Then last night on the cusp of losing to the Chargers Vick pulls a W out of his ***. It was good to attend a Vick game he won that wasn't against us.

People bitched at me last week because I blamed Tomlin for the loss. Now everyone is bitching about Haley... WTF? So only Tomlin can't be blamed but the ******* OC can be?

Now to Vick. He is horrible. Everybody is now bitching that Haley isn't using him correctly.. well let's see. He can't throw long, medium or short. He can't throw timing routes. He can't throw to the right. WTF do you people want Haley to do? Vick is a bad QB that is lucky he doesn't have 6 TOs in 2 games. Blame Haley all you want but Vick sucks and has sucked for years. There is NO offense for him to run.
