Tomlin

Once again with a myriad of weapons at their disposal, the Tomlin Led Steelers went ultra conservative vs a ravens team who have a little run stopping ability and no secondary worth a damn... But Vick is inaccurate and not ready to pass yet you say? well who the ***** fault is that? they knew gradkowskis shoulder was ****** three weeks before the injury that benched him... they could have brought someone in then... even if that was Vick... they would have had 3 more weeks to get ready...

Im sorry, But while tomlin has his positives, games like today show why he is mediocre at best

Who was expected to lose Ben in the 3rd game of the season ? Seriously ? Brought someone in ?..........they did bring someone in......Or did you prefer Jason Campbell, TJ Yates or Mike Kafka ? Pat Devlin or beg Kyle Orton to come out of retirement ? Vick was the best option of that bunch, past sins not withstanding..........and hes been with the team for 6 weeks and IMO did rather well on short game notice. NO TURNOVERS and everyone predicted he would have two or more.

Tomlin does have his faults but this loss rest squarely at the feet, or shall I say on the leg of Scobee. 2 for 4 this game, 2 for 4 vs NE and NOTHING longer than 44 this season. And those which he did make were nothing short of dramatic. I don't know how many coaches attempt a 52 yarder with a kicker with no confidence, who's already missed two clinching kicks from less than 50 in the same game. If I second guess Tomlin on anything, its probably the decision to forego punting and pinning but if the ball goes into the EZ the net is 19 yards or so. He gambled....

Not running Bell on those short yardage down is absolutely on the coaching staff. It's simple football awareness. No reason to get cute there. Best rb in the league...run him. Scobee should be cut immediately.

Piss poor game plan. Piss poor coaching. Piss poor game management.

I couldn't stop screaming 'WHO THE **** IS CALLING THESE PLAYS!" Hand the ******* ball off!

Tomlin has a childish stubbornness or arrogance about him that when his franchise QB goes out, he seems to want to prove that he can (AND WILL) win with the ****** backup, by letting that ****** backup run the same plays and same game plan as they would run with Ben. It is really bizarre. I knew going in that the would not rely on LeVeon to carry the load. It is mind boggling and infuriating to watch.

This loss was on Tomlin. Hopefully he will learn from his mistakes, but history has shown that he will not.

That 4th & 1 on OT the Steelers had the right play call to Brown he was wide open but Vick threw a terrible ******* pass floating it over Brown's head. If he catches that it could have been TD!

Everyone is saying why didn't they try the FG with Scobee.....a 50yd FG when he already missed a 49 & 41yd FG in the same direction....I had zero confidence in Scobee also at that point. I thought it was the right call. Just a poor throw by Vick.

Hey Chico -- how about the TD pass Brown dropped from 36 yards out? No "could have beens" about that one. Was that a terrible ******* poor throw by Vick?

On the Fan yesterday one of the guys straight up said that the team knew Gradkowski had a shoulder injury that hadn't healed right and they didn't think he would be able to be the backup, yet they waited for 3 weeks, till he was absolutely destroyed, to bring in anyone else. that is 3 weeks for a backup QB in the system and that is huge. If Vick wasn't ready yet that is absolutely on the staff, and if he was ready then using Brown as more or less a decoy against a failing secondary is equally on the staff

Just a question...was it not partly Tomlin who decided to trade a 6th round pick for this kicker? I wont even fully blame him cause I'm sure his buddy Colbert had some say in it as well..but there is no doubt Tomlin was part of this choice...now my concern is how long they stick with him because they don't want to look like idiots for the trade.

Prior to this season, Scobee was pretty reliable at 80 %. How many teams do you know that lose 2 kickers in 3 weeks that DONT scramble to replace them. What would YOU have done if you were head coach or GM if you lost two kickers in consecutive weeks ? Yeah Tomlins to blame on trading a low pick for a "kicker". But, just like in the case of injuries to our backup QB, who you gonna call based on who's available. Sure, blame Tomlin for the traded pick...blame him for the decision to sign an 80% kicker. But are you gonna blame him for the kicking miscue last night ?

Scobee is gone......hes probably prepacked his **** In his locker, last night knowing that call comes today. Tomlin doesn't have to tell him hes gone. He knows it. When it was fourth down in OT the last thing Scobee wanted was to be thrown out their again only to miss a THIRD game clinching FG from further out. Question now is, whom do we pick up ?

you have Le'Veon Bell.....

you put the ball in Vick's hands twice.

he's a ******* dumbass.

Coach Haley, correct??? I will walk to Selma, butt-*** naked, if you think Coach Tomlin signed off on those play calls. Yes, he, Coach Tomlin, owned the loss; but, those play calls sit SQUARELY on Coach Haley.

Brown is loved so that play doesn't count. It's ok.

I said in the game thread that would I of tried to get Vick on the edge to get the first so I can't say It was a stupid call. I would of tried a stretch play one way and then fake it and boot Vick the other way but they called what they called. And If you watch it if Vick turns it up earlier he may get the first. Second play I said give it to Bell in the game thread but if Vick hits Brown on the numbers its a first. Both plays are a direct result of Scobee sucking *** and a previously aforementioned dropped TD

You mean the stupid Tomlin who chose to go into the wind in the 4th quarter knowing FGs would be huge ? You mean the Tomlin who has the best back in the league and gives it to Vick on the biggest play of the game. You mean the stupid Tomlin who on the next biggest play of the game lets the inaccurate Vick throw the precision pass to Brown which he of course did not set his feet,m threw across his body and threw way high?

We get it - you don't like Coach Tomlin. Go ahead and apply when he loses his job - in 10 years or so...

Honestly...how much BETTER do you think Vick would have performed with 3 weeks extra, and the entire staff and team learning Ben would go down 4 days prior to a short week vs Baltimore. Had Scabies made one kick, or Brown caught that one pass in the endzone this wouldn't have mattered. Mike took shots downfield when the playcall allowed it and he looked pretty good doing it. You think Landry Jones would have fared better ? Tebow ? Yates ? Be realistic here. Youre throwing out situational criticisms but haven't given an option of whom they go after ....Landry has the advantage on being in the system the longest, but hes not even close to efficient as Vick is right now. All things considered, Vick, right now, is our best option of staying afloat til #7 returns.

This team, led by tomlin, is a mess. Vick sucks! Nobody can see that? These are football people and they missed the fact that vick can't play anymore. One of the first things coaches look for in a qb is if he can effectively execute the quick out throw. Well, vick obviously can't because he screwed it up on 4th down. And tomlin just had his contract extended? Unbelievable!

WTF are your talkin about running the same plays as they would with Ben...give me the example...I wanna know what play(s) youre talkin about...Ben doesn't run called QB runs or bootlegs...Vick ran about 4 of those last night....

Then we need a HEAD Coach, not a PR spokesperson for press conferences.

Quick question..what was Vicks QB passer rating last night ?

Certainly as a fan you're angry with Scobee, but it's not like a coach doesn't look at his numbers over the first few games and say to himself... I don't think I have a great deal of faith in this guy...

I mean really. The kicker's shot man. Kickers need confidence and Scobee aint got it. he's done. Vanderjagt went from top of his game to complete head case in a couple games. Scobee is useless. I hate to be a meanie and all, but he aint got it. A simple look at the numbers shows he's completely scattershot.

Don't kill the messenger. Like I said, as a fan you're mad at the kicker but the coaches are the guys who are responsible for realizing that the kicker doesn't have the capability in the first place and not putting him in a position to have to kick anything beyond say, 22 yards or so. I mean literally don't make him kick anything a high school kicker couldn't reasonably make because right now he simply doesn't have the confidence.

He had to go for it and Phil Simms is an idiot. Scooby wasn't hitting anything and asking him to make a 51 yarder with the game on the line, that wasn't happening. Also on one of his misses a defender got his hand on the ball. It's more on the offense who once again came away taking 3's (or trying to) instead of making 7's. Also the run defense was horrible.

He didn't throw the ball downfiled vs a crap secondary... he had 4.8 yards per attempt... which is half of what ben gets.. looking at a passer rating and assuming it translates to playing well is not correct... Vick was a hot mess last night ... missing open wrs, refusing to throw quick outs and dumping it off often. his passes were high, low , all over the place... heck he bounced a pass to a wr that the DB jumped... had that one been good he would have been picked off... there is no narrative that Vick played well.. he played like the coaches wanted him to play... scared and conservative vs a team that isn't good on defense anymore

Mike Tomlin is a weak coach. We all know it. Everybody can see it. The announcers stop just short of saying it nearly every game.

He is not up to this job. Never was.

Quick observation...

How long has Ben been in Coach Haley's system? (Years). Now how about Mike Vick? (Weeks)

How many days of practice and preparation did Mike Vick have for last night's game?? (Two days)

Oh, now I see your point!!!

Most head coaches are subpar... teams need to start realizing that you are asking the position to wear too many hats, and that they need more assistants to cover coaches inadequacies... almost every HC has a fatal flaw... be it that they don't understand advanced game strategy or statistics and how to apply them, They don't get offensive or defensive play design or playcalling strategies, they cant motivate players, they cant discipline players, they cant Hire or control their staff, they cant organize a plan to develop players, or they just don't get how to read talent... Some of that is mitigated by assistants they have now, but a **** ton of that is just ignored and lived with

Yes that is all true, but again the team knew... knew for three weeks before they signed Vick that the backup position was an issue, and they opted to ignore it and hope Jones was ready.... so if Vick wasn't ready then I am still blaming the staff.... but then again we play conservative vs the ravens most games anyhow... even whenthe have noticeable weakness... hell we tried to run it down their throats in the playoffs with a guy we just signed off the street and a PS player for more or less the first three quarters while the QB who threw for 6 tds vs them earlier in the year wasn't really utilized till late in the game and behind...

This **** has always been despicable. I'm just glad the majority is finally on the hate wagon.
