We're losing a player by 4pm today. Who will the cut be?

Who will be cut today for Bell?

From what I have seen, I do not know what Landry Jones gives the team that Murphy would not be able to do.

well I hope he makes it to the PS, keep polishing him to a Slash kind of player

Guess I'm not having Crow for dinner tonight

OK, let me get this straight. At RB/FB they now have: 1) Bell 2) Williams 3) Johnson 4) Nix 5) Todman and 6) Archer. At WR they now have 1) AB 2) Wheaton 3) DHB and 4) Coates ... Seems logical that they would cut the WR who actually saw snaps on offense during the first game and gave positive results rather than the redundant FB or the RB who ... well .. y'all know. Dri Archer has nekkid pictures of Mrs. Haley.

My two cents...

Who is to blame for the "lack of offensive production" by Dri? He can't just pop himself in the games - can he??? I mean we keep hearing how great he looks in practices, but, why hasn't he been inserted into the offensive game plan??? I'm leaning toward Coach Haley not being able to figure out how to get him in the game...

This is exactly why I wouldn't have cut Murphy. But hey, these guys get paid the big bucks.

I feel what you're saying. I'm just looking at the numbers at both positions and the fact that if anything happens to any of the top 3 WRs, Coates is the next guy up. Coates who they didn't dress in either of the first two games. I know his draft position and potential warrant his roster spot. That's not the issue. To me the issue is that they cut a kid that they actually trusted to play in the games (even if it was for less than a handful of snaps in each) and kept a guy that they either don't trust or haven't figured out a way to use. Also, Todman is more than capable of returning kicks.

So, when Martavis comes back, what's the plan? Cut Coates or Todman so Haley has more time to figure out how to use Dri?

It may be that they held him out of those two games to see what they had in Murphy in real game situations and decided it wasn't as much upside as Dri?

Touche...

I don't get paid to think like that :anyone:

now Archer definitly and without a doubt be considered exclusively as a WR on the depth chart

Possibly, but, my thoughts are purely speculative...

If it's FACTS you're looking for - we got a guy. Coach, where ya at???

Whether Archer (or Lyons) (or JT Walton) belongs on the 53 is a fair debate. But Tyler Murphy belongs on the practice squad. He would have been there 2 weeks ago if Martavis could lay off the weed and he was renting a roster spot for at most 4 weeks.

The dude has played WR for all of 6 weeks now. He can go work on his craft and we'll see what we have next training camp.

We have 6 men at the RB/FB position and 4 at WR. One position is overloaded and the other is now thin. Whether Murphy should have ultimately ended up on the PS isn't the issue for me (he should), but rather the timing and the numbers. Plus the fact that I just don't see what Dri offers. Whether that's due to his personal shortcomings or Haley's inability to work even one more piece into his puzzle, Dri hasn't shown anything that says he's worth a spot on the 53 now or when Martavis returns. He also should be on the PS working on his craft (whichever position that may be) and we can see what we have with him next training camp. Hell, by that time maybe Haley will have figured it out.

Sure hope Archer goes instead of Todman when Bryant comes back but my guess is Archer stays because of his "experience" on the team.

Wait a minute... I thought Haley wanted to draft Archer because of what he did with McCluster in KC? Don't make me drag that thread back up. You can't now say that Haley can't figure out how to use Archer. Can't have it both ways.

Also there are only two things you can do with a player on offense. He either runs it or catches it. This isn't brain surgery. This isn't Haley's fault. It's Archers fault for not being able to KR, PR, run or catch good enough. Tomlin isn't cutting him simply because of draft position.... nothing else. If he can't get on the field when Bell and Bryant are both out he has no chance now.

I think that Will Johnson can be counted as a FB/TE
I think we all know Dri Archer shouldn't under any circumstance play in the backfield given that he can't block worth a ****, so that makes him a WR/ST player
So that makes it 5 WR, 4,5 RB/FB, 3,5 TE
And this is not defending Archer, just trying to make some sense out of all

"We" know it. And I guess, based upon his playing time, someone finally told Haley. So there is that. Now, the critical/cynical/******* part of me says ... If they plan on using him at WR, why did Murphy see playing time there over him. If the answer is that Murphy, after only 6 weeks of playing the position, deserved the pt more than Dri ... I'm sure you see where I'm going here.

Ahhh, **** it ... it doesn't make sense to me and unless something unforeseen/unfortunate happens, it's really not that important.

Murphy gone and Archer is still on the roster. I just don't get it. Does Dri have full penatration photos of someone's significant other that he is holding for ransom? The experiment has to end.

I do not get all the archer bashing around here. The guy is simply not getting chances so who knows if he is good or bad. You cant really judge a guy when he may get 1-2 touches per game. I think if he went to a decent team as a true backup RB he could be a good player. When he does get to play now he basically has no chance. The other team pretty much knows / expects archer to get the ball so they are looking for him and there is a good chance of a screen / swing pass going to him as the first read. Nothing like telegraphing your play calls.... What I dont understand is why the coaching staff keeps him if they are not going to try to get him around 10 touches per game.
