From what I have seen, I do not know what Landry Jones gives the team that Murphy would not be able to do.
Guess I'm not having Crow for dinner tonight
OK, let me get this straight. At RB/FB they now have: 1) Bell 2) Williams 3) Johnson 4) Nix 5) Todman and 6) Archer. At WR they now have 1) AB 2) Wheaton 3) DHB and 4) Coates ... Seems logical that they would cut the WR who actually saw snaps on offense during the first game and gave positive results rather than the redundant FB or the RB who ... well .. y'all know. Dri Archer has nekkid pictures of Mrs. Haley.

My two cents...
Who is to blame for the "lack of offensive production" by Dri? He can't just pop himself in the games - can he??? I mean we keep hearing how great he looks in practices, but, why hasn't he been inserted into the offensive game plan??? I'm leaning toward Coach Haley not being able to figure out how to get him in the game...

I feel what you're saying. I'm just looking at the numbers at both positions and the fact that if anything happens to any of the top 3 WRs, Coates is the next guy up. Coates who they didn't dress in either of the first two games. I know his draft position and potential warrant his roster spot. That's not the issue. To me the issue is that they cut a kid that they actually trusted to play in the games (even if it was for less than a handful of snaps in each) and kept a guy that they either don't trust or haven't figured out a way to use. Also, Todman is more than capable of returning kicks.
So, when Martavis comes back, what's the plan? Cut Coates or Todman so Haley has more time to figure out how to use Dri?
It may be that they held him out of those two games to see what they had in Murphy in real game situations and decided it wasn't as much upside as Dri?
We have 6 men at the RB/FB position and 4 at WR. One position is overloaded and the other is now thin. Whether Murphy should have ultimately ended up on the PS isn't the issue for me (he should), but rather the timing and the numbers. Plus the fact that I just don't see what Dri offers. Whether that's due to his personal shortcomings or Haley's inability to work even one more piece into his puzzle, Dri hasn't shown anything that says he's worth a spot on the 53 now or when Martavis returns. He also should be on the PS working on his craft (whichever position that may be) and we can see what we have with him next training camp. Hell, by that time maybe Haley will have figured it out.
I think that Will Johnson can be counted as a FB/TE
I think we all know Dri Archer shouldn't under any circumstance play in the backfield given that he can't block worth a ****, so that makes him a WR/ST player
So that makes it 5 WR, 4,5 RB/FB, 3,5 TE
And this is not defending Archer, just trying to make some sense out of all
