If I were Mike Tomlin, I'd swear that the trick play with Antonio Brown was called in by the Pats' sideline when they were controlling the Steelers' radio signal. I sure wouldn't want my coaching staff saddled with that stupidity...
This made the intro to the Today show. Could be the producers are Patriot hating New Yorkers or maybe this is indeed going to be a huge story.

Q) The NFL has said that after Coach Tomlin informed the officials of this strange anomaly early on in the 1st Q (as reported by NBC) that the NFL shut down radio communication for both teams to make it even for both sides, Is this correct?
Q) If the radio communications were shut down on both sides to make it even, how is it possible that Coach Tomlin could hear the Patriots coaches broadcast for a majority of the first half?
Q) Were the Patriots Coaches still broadcasting?
Yeah, I saw that too. They said that the headset system IS run by the NFL but the problem was a *cough* power failure *cough* at the stadium.
What they were hearing was the Pats** network radio broadcast.
For as big a dick as John Harbaugh is, he's probably the only guy with balls enough to do something like that.
Yes he is... and if I recall, Brian Billick pulled his team off the field in Philadelphia once because of the condition of the artificial turf...do I remember that correctly?
I think it was the communication with the coaches in the booth ! They were hearing the Play by play radio broadcast
But this is nothing new. Besides, why do you need somebody in a headset telling you that you should cover Gronk? It should be pretty freaking obvious.
Belichick said they were too. Said it's been an issue for years.
If I was Tomlin, I would have made a call up to the owners box and informed the Rooney's I'm taking the team off the field until this is corrected or all headsets are removed from every coach in the stadium.
A stadium power infrastructure issue...
it is almost as if nobody knows who owns/runs that stadium...
Even if the Patriots are not to blame...sure...the Commissioner then most certainly is if this has been going on for years (as nearly every team has confirmed). The NFL should relocate all Patriots home games until they have a suitable "power infrastructure"
Hopefully this is the beginning of the "last straw" endgame for these idiots. Some inconsistent details emerged almost immediately...typical of a Cheats scandal.
1. Tomlin said "most of the first half" - the NFL security response was it was rectified in the first quarter.
2. The Steelers website said after Tomlin demanded "equity" from the officiating crew, they went to the Cheat's sidelines to inform them they needed to give up their headsets...the problem mysteriously vanished...until the officials left the sidelines and play resumed on the field when the Steelers headsets were again jammed with the local sports broadcast of the game.
3. When Belicheat was asked about it, he responded that THEY also had problems THROUGHOUT the game. "had to change headsets several times...we deal with it, it seems like weekly...had to change out Brady's helmet LATE in the game. Obviously, he didn't receive the correct "talking points" prior to his comments. FIRST, the live broadcast shows the Cheats USING the non-functioning headsets, does not show them replacing them. Secondly, the broadcast to/from coaches to players was NOT affected (according to all reports-only those BETWEEN coaches). Why would Brady's helmet radio be affected in the 4th quarter IF the problem was "coach to coach" AND WHY in the 4th quarter IF the problem was fixed in the 1st quarter?
4. The NFL went out of their way to defend the Cheats by stating the equipment is provided by the NFL security for BOTH teams when IN FACT it has been reported widely that the equipment is provided by the home team AND that it/they are ONLY DISTRIBUTED by league officials. The officials do NOT travel with all of the "gear". They leave it at the stadium (common practice/common knowledge) and many complaints have been made in the past about the condition of the equipment provided at this venue in the past. (some coaches even bring their own equipment)!
I think the "code of silence" may have a few cracks in it as their is the typical scramble to de-escalate this by stating BOTH teams were affected, other coaching staff's are already on record as to what happens in Gillette Stadium and the condition of the equipment.

The plot thickens from Deadspin.

Tomlin should be learning how to draft instead of whining about headsets. The stiffs on the DL you drafted did absolutely nothing, the secondary is complete trash and your big trade DB didn't even make the field.... and you still don't have a clue how to call a timeout.
******* whiny losers
