Titans waived/released C Fernando Velasco, LB Nate Askew, CB Will Brown, LB Dezmond Johnson, WR Tebucky Jones, WR Deon Long, DE Derrick Lott, OG Justin McCray, K Mike Meyer, and OLB Chaz Sutton.

Signed in June, Velasco never came close to putting heat on starting C Brian Schwenke, and also didn't threaten for ousted LG Andy Levitre's open job. Aug 30 - 3:34 PM

is he better than Doug at this point ?

I think they're comfortable with Wallace/Legursky at C for the time being...

Derrick Lott seemed like a pretty good draft prospect, not sure we have room for him.

bring him, best man wins it in a one week contest

velasco was a suitable replacement and seemed an upgrade over Legs once before....bring him in!

I think he can play G too?

What was his injury, tor achilles? Maybe that did him in, could be he isn't the same player.

Bring in Velasco along with all the above that play defense, what the hell lol!

We need to keep looking on the waiver wire and NOT be affraid to bring someone in and take a look. I think Velasco is a lost cause, but one still needs to be on the look out. More cuts are coming and we are in need.

so im friends with Velasco from the first time he was with the steelers. (on Facebook) He never unfriended me when he left.. and I didn't unfriend either.

I went to his page tonight .. It says.. he Lives in Pittsburgh And works for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It didn't say this before today.. It had been changed.

Did Steelers already sign him?

Nice scoop you probably beat the media. It would make sense.

I like that idea - it's a starting center we need - not a career back-up guard like Legursky

So it's not that we can't coach up our draft picks...the picks themselves just flat out suck.

NOT all draft picks. Some are just bad players as you say, but some are coached up and MAKE fantanstic players. LeVion Bell comes to mind. Do you think he just woke up one day and heard Jane Fonda say "Mr., you need to go on a diet and drop a few" . Hell no, COACHING up would be the word. All teams have draft picks, that are cut from other team rosters.

I agree with you, it was more of a sarcastic post. I have read a lot of people on this board complain that our coaches aren't able to "coach up" players. I believe Hills was one included with not being coached up properly. There's only so much a coach can do. And if they fail with multiple teams, it's not a coaching problem. With that said, the draft picks themselves are a topic for a different thread lol
