Vick meeting with Steelers

So, when Lloyd put the gun to his son's head and the cops got called. Do you think that was the first time? If they had a "Greg Lloyd" day at a Steelers game, would you go?

lot of fans disliked Lloyd after that

of that one act that didn't result in murder

now add a dozen acts of murder into the equation

oh wait thats right they are justttttttttttttttttt dogs

SMH

i understand those that take issue with the idea that we'd sign vick. i feel like you guys are overlooking one of the biggest issues.
he'd fill the necessary black backup quarterback role.
for that reason alone, i'm all for inking ronnie mexico

its a shame it wasn't AIDS

yes, correct. the word "murder" implies an unjust death of a human, a person. not a dog. dogs get killed, not murdered. sounds heartless, but sorry, that's just the way it is.

yeah I was hoping they would wait for the final cuts

sort of a knee jerk reaction

We play a game 5 days after final cuts. If someone better than Vick gets cut, will he even sign with us (compared to another team that doesn't have an elite #1 QB)? Can he learn the playbook in 5 days or do you want Landry Jones to be one snap away from playing in Foxborough?

Actually, my point was that some of you seem to be taking the position that "they're just people". As in the lives of dogs are more valuable than those of people. Personally, as a dog owner (1 of which is a beautiful, gentle and loving Pit), I value the lives of my dogs as much as I value the lives of any loved one.

It would be hard for me to forgive anyone that killed/injured "MY" dogs or "MY" loved ones. However, let me be honest here, I can't raise the necessary level of ire to continue to punish a man after he has served his sentence and none of "MY" dogs or "MY" loved ones were harmed.

I wouldn't be calling Mike Vick to dog watch based upon his history. I wouldn't even trust him watching my kids. However, what he did, and what he was punished for have absolutely no bearing on whether or not he has the skills to be a backup QB on the Steelers. In fact, I think many of you that are upset about the pick are equally as upset about what this says about the mythological, never existed "Steeler Way".

Went broke? Didn't he sign a huge contract as soon as he got out? He was only "broke" for the time he was in jail. IMO, that wasn't enough time for all of the crimes committed, but that is what it is.

What goes forward and how I use my money is the only thing I can control.

He signed a relatively modest deal with the Eagles "as soon as he got out" and he paid almost all of it to creditors that he owed. The bankruptcy judge forced him to live on a very modest wage.

in my dictionary you look up Vick and the definition

reads scum bag murdering piece of ****

that's just the way it is

Vick volunteers with the Humane society on their antidogfighting task force... since his release from prison he helps work against dogfighting in the areas where it is an unfortunate acceptable norm. mostly urban teens, but he also gave a ton of insight to the inner workings of dogfighting.... I mean I think the guy is trying to be a better person. people change (but he does still suck as a QB)

for me it is really basic

he maliciously killed dog after dog after dog

in my eyes that is life sentence capable

kill my dog?

and I will shoot your *** dead

regardless of what ****** law is in place

what was it a few posts back about cats deserving the same rights as dogs?

So are there cat fighting rings?

laughing at he is trying to be a better person

he simply got caught

Didnt realize we had so many vegans on this board:tongue-new:

The guy paid his debt to society, basically went broke, and has basically been an ideal citizen for the past 5 years.

Dog fighting is not murder or child molestation- so get off your high horses and continue eating your bacon and burgers...

**** you cuntbag. You are equating a dog to a pig or cow, and if you've ever had a dog live in your house, a dog that would literally die for you, you're either ******* idiotic for not seeing the difference, or just a heartless ******* piece of ****. Either way, you and Mikey would make fast friends I'm sure, I however wouldn't piss on either of you if you were on fire.

To me it's the grossness of the ENJOYMENT of doing it.

I think all animals should be treated with respect and dignity and ethical treatment, if possible. That includes when you kill a snake in your yard or squash a bug or set up a slaughter house.

There is no reason to INCREASE the torture for your own personal benefit. That is exactly what Michael Vick did. That is exactly what the hunter in Africa did. He didn't need to kill an endangered animal. He paid $50,000 for his own ENJOYMENT in doing it.

I understand the need for hunting to thin out herds of animal that have overpopulated due to human involvement in the food chain. We have way too many deer because there is no wolf or cougar populations in Pennsylvania/Delaware/New Jersey to thin them out. Man did that so man will have to fix it as best we can.

I understand the need to breed and produce livestock for human consumption on a mass scale. I understand that slaughter houses are not pleasant placed to be.

I would find is disgusting is a hunter PURPOSELY gut shot deer thinking that was "funny" or "cool" to torture an animal like that. I think that would be a criminal human trait to have. I would find is disgusting if a slaughter house owner PURPOSELY skirted the rules of killing animals to make it more cruel for his enjoyment or profit.

That is the difference. It's intent. Michael Vick is the kind of person that INTENTIONALLY and WITH PURPOSE tortured animals for his own amusement and profit. I can never forgive that. Never. It's sick and so deeply ingrained in someone's soul that I don't think it can ever be forgiven.

I kill animals in my yard. I kill bugs. My cats kill birds. But I don't sit around and watch my cat kill a bird and cheer or hope it's in the cruelest way possible. I try to save the bird because that's what a DECENT HUMAN BEING would do.

If you can't see the difference in intent and feeling joy over another creatures suffering, then I don't understand you.

Well the thing is the living conditions themselves are cruel. The way they kill some animals is cruel. I think that is the point some are making in this area. The owner while following the law make profits....doesn't make how they raise and kill the animals any less cruel.

The adult world does not mean abandoning your principals. There are many folks that do bad things that does not make it all right or acceptable. The guys you mention are not int he steelers locker room. None of them will be on my fantasy team as I am not interested in fantasy, funny how that follows advice for others to grow up. It does not have to be a high horse or air of superiority just the desire to be particular about who you associate with or support with your entertainment dollars. It is very easy to decide not to do business with companies that support things you do not agree with or that you find offensive, one just stops buying their products and patronizes a competitor, or does with out.
OK. Enjoy being a ravens fan. P.S. Never played fantasy football in my life. But Peterson is all over the "who are your top three picks" thread.

keep your bag of cunts toyourself t-man!!
