I'm physically laughing at some of you. I've hunted since I was 9 years old. No matter how hard you try, bad **** can happen on a hunt and an animal can suffer HORRIBLY gut shot lying in its own entrails for hours before it mercifully expires. Anyone leaving when Hartley became the kicker?

I've been a Steelers fans since before you were in diapers. Michael Vick is a **** of a person. The lowest of the low. I'd have a team full of Ray Rices over one ******* Michael Vick. I think what he did to innocent animals is only a tick above child abuse.

This mentality is why Cecile the Lion outrages so many Americans, but things like abortion or black on white crime or other loss of human life doesn't even make the news. People would rather have wife beaters on their teams than dog fighters. SMH.

Unless anyone with this position is a vegan, you've no room whatsoever to frown upon Michael Vick's actions. You eat beef or chicken, you are culpable in their slaughter. Visit a slaughter house sometime, I encourage it. You eat fish? Same deal. You're culpable in the slaughter of unintended aquatic victims of fishing. Farm raised trout, salmon, ostrich, etc all falls into the same category.

I am a pet owner. Have been my whole life. My past two dogs have been rescues, and they are an integral part of our family. They are like children. The hardest thing I've had to do in my adult life was put down my 15 year old coyote/sheppherd mix two years ago. I cried like a baby. Yet, while I don't condone dog fighting, I also don't insist it's evil. Personally I wish it didn't exist, but it's a part of some cultures.

What I object most to is the slippery slope PETA and libtard views like this have put us on with this position that dogs are entitled to the same rights as humans. When does it end? Are cats next? Who determines what animals are entitled to these human-like protections? Dogs are entitled, maybe cats, but not say mice that people feed to their snakes? Lots of farm children have calves that are pets, maybe for life, or only to see them slaughtered later in life. Pigs are far more intelligent than dogs, and some are raised as pets, yet endlessly slaughtered for our consumption. Why aren't they protected?

To me, it's a ridiculous position to bestow human-like rights on animals, let alone just one or two species. Where does it end? Will we see news stories in the future about a man being arrested for cutting the head off of a wayward snake that traversed his yard while his kids were playing outside?

Sorry, Michael Vick's past with dog fighting is utterly a non issue and I'll take 10 of him over any wife beating ghetto thug any day.

Glad some of you have figured it out. If you have a personal problem with Vick being on the team that is so bad that if offends you to your very core ... put up or shut up. Stop watching Steelers games. Stop buying Steelers gear. Stop going to games and buying concessions. Boycott the Steelers if they sign Vick. Hell, grab some poster board and some markers, make signs and go down to the team headquarters and picket. Take a stand damn it! Make yourselves feel better and actually DO SOMETHING other than ranting.

Whatever Roethlisberger did or didn't do, those woman had CHOICES leading up their encounters. That drunk girl in Melville didn't HAVE to where a DTF pin. She didn't HAVE to accept shot after shot after shot of free hard alcohol. She didn't HAVE to walk back that hallway with him to the bathroom.

I tell my kids all the time getting in real trouble or danger is often about making a BUNCH of bad choices in a row. Being in the wrong places.

When it comes to children and animals, they can't make those choices. It's just straight up torture. And it takes a very wicked and bad person to be able to follow through and do that over and over and over again and think it's "okay".

I can afford, as a fan of the Steelers, to kick a few seasons to the curb while this **** of a human is on the roster. And I don't need you to ******* lecture me.

Maybe I'll troll this year and laugh at how bad this team implodes because Vick brings that to every locker room. He's a cancer to young black players. Him and Desean Jackson and Lesean McCoy basically sold out the Philly locker room, starter doing whatever the hell they wanted and led to a 4-12 season. And it took a new coach 2 season to clean out the stink.

Vick sucks. The Steelers now suck. And I don't give a **** who the **** knows about it.

As an African-American, I'd say that stink is still in the Philly locker room. Because Riley Cooper is still there. And part of the reason he is still there is because that poisonous, viperous, locker room cancer stuck up for him.

I can't stand Mike Vick and I have every right to feel that way. I don't need people preaching to me about how I feel. It's a well known fact that serial killers start out abusing animals. That's the kind of mindset we are talking about here.

I haven't forgiven Vick and won't. That's just how I roll. I don't claim I'm not going to cheer for my team. He is one person and I'm not going to let his presence ruin football season for me. Let's hope he never sees the field. But I have every right to say to the Steelers this is a low class move and I'm pissed off about it.

By the way, there are plenty of people who take up for humans. Someone has to stand up for animals. I prefer an animal I don't know to a human I don't know. Can't explain why, I've just always been that way. So sorry if that offends you. We are the stewards of this planet and as such are supposed to take care of it. What we've done to other species is appalling. This mindset that we can do whatever we want because we are 'smarter' than them disgusts me.

To me it's the grossness of the ENJOYMENT of doing it.

I think all animals should be treated with respect and dignity and ethical treatment, if possible. That includes when you kill a snake in your yard or squash a bug or set up a slaughter house.

There is no reason to INCREASE the torture for your own personal benefit. That is exactly what Michael Vick did. That is exactly what the hunter in Africa did. He didn't need to kill an endangered animal. He paid $50,000 for his own ENJOYMENT in doing it.

I understand the need for hunting to thin out herds of animal that have overpopulated due to human involvement in the food chain. We have way too many deer because there is no wolf or cougar populations in Pennsylvania/Delaware/New Jersey to thin them out. Man did that so man will have to fix it as best we can.

I understand the need to breed and produce livestock for human consumption on a mass scale. I understand that slaughter houses are not pleasant placed to be.

I would find is disgusting is a hunter PURPOSELY gut shot deer thinking that was "funny" or "cool" to torture an animal like that. I think that would be a criminal human trait to have. I would find is disgusting if a slaughter house owner PURPOSELY skirted the rules of killing animals to make it more cruel for his enjoyment or profit.

That is the difference. It's intent. Michael Vick is the kind of person that INTENTIONALLY and WITH PURPOSE tortured animals for his own amusement and profit. I can never forgive that. Never. It's sick and so deeply ingrained in someone's soul that I don't think it can ever be forgiven.

I kill animals in my yard. I kill bugs. My cats kill birds. But I don't sit around and watch my cat kill a bird and cheer or hope it's in the cruelest way possible. I try to save the bird because that's what a DECENT HUMAN BEING would do.

Oh, I see the difference. I'm a hunter. An ethical hunter. And we frown heavily on sport hunters. You don't eat the meat, you don't kill the animal.

What I think you're failing to grasp is my issue with our society in general and our view of animal lives vs. human lives. In a perfect world, I'd love it to be the way you describe. Perfect slaughter houses (they don't exist - they are cruel, inhumane, evil places), pets being protected, and animal abuses outlawed. Utopia all around.

But the fact is right now, much of our country believe that pets are more important than human beings. There's no denying this is real in many segments of the society. Not to make this fully political, but the vast majority of Americans simply don't give a **** about a baby with a beating heart being dissected and ripped apart through its chest cavity and through its face to harvest its organs. It's on video. And Americans simply just don't give a damn.

But a man kills a lion on a sport hunt, and people are ready to leave their jobs to protest, to issue death threats to the man, yet sit idly by while baby harvesting goes on.

Yeah, in a perfect world we'd all be protected and Utopia would exist. But the reality is that our morality as a nation has become skewed when we think that the dogs Michael Vick tortured or Cecile the Lion is more important than a living breathing baby, or when there is no outrage over black on black crime, for instance.

I'll protest the Greg Hardys and the Ray Rices of the world first.

The adult world does not mean abandoning your principals. There are many folks that do bad things that does not make it all right or acceptable.
