Week 2 at Cheatriots Game Day Thread

Look, its the first couple games after a complete system overhaul... it will get better. Every Oline tends to get better the longer they play in the same position alongside the same players and learn how to best react in the scheme...

The offense is targeting players over the middle... the issue is with our biggest deep threat actually catching the ball...
 
The problem with the offense is the same this year as it was last year: the HC!! tomlin just didn’t hire good coaches to update the offense pure and simple. Now McCarty takes over and all the things that got him fired in Dallas are obvious here: outdated dink and doink passing game and a non existent run game that depends solely on great qb play to lift everyone around him. In Dallas he had Dax here the qb is just too old to do that... Even Cowher was critical of the outdated offense the Steelers trotted out 2day!! No presnap motion? What is this 1988? Instead of asking himself what got him fired from 2 of the best gigs in football he instead sat around and drinking beer eating nochos getting fat waiting for the phone to ring, knowing someone out there was as lazy as him. His offensive thinking has not progressed one day past 2010! That was along time ago.

Shoot, we've known that for at least 7 yrs. The thing is, each new season brings hope that we can somehow, some way catch lightning in a bottle.
And we never do.

Said it when he fell in our lap and still think he was the obvious choice, 100 should’ve been the pick.

The only problem was Art the flaccid was still married to Mikey T at that point, so we would’ve just ruined Dart anyways. Then Mikey T divorces Art the flaccid after he realizes Art the flaccid will never erect a championship building

This team is dumb from the top down and getting progressively harder to watch with every season

I like the idea and they should bring in Brock and Max at the minimal. But here is the problem. DK is dropping footballs, Aaron is looking short and missing long balls that would make an opposing D think twice about cheating into those short areas. Wilson can’t get open more often than not his route running is iffy.

You will need Bernard a rookie and Pittman injury issues to carry the room.

But the problem is with all of this not only is Aaron a step slower not able to scramble well, he isn’t throwing deep and then you have the other mentions handcuffing the team.

Not sure Aaron will stop his gun shy it was there last season and this year. Wilson handcuffs your room. Anderson and Cook handcuff your Oline.

That is three phases of your offense handcuffed. That is a recipe for failure. Doing the same thing over and over again? Is a recipe for failure.

Every single concern I had came true and I strongly suspect every concern moving forward will still be there rearing its ugly head too.

I guess the bright side is fans who wanted the team to tank will sort of get their wish. The O will not be good enough to rebound without some changes. The longer they wait the more of the odds that those forks sitting on the table should have been stuck in to begin with. As I suspect they should…

You have to have a more mobile QB in there which doesn’t include your top two QBs.

Highly suspect so far:

Oline coach who was what out of football?
ST coach who was what not a great option?

And the HC which wasn’t most of our options but we hoped for the best. He sat out last year and I love his love for the game. But too many more of these non competitive games and I will just think the game passed him by. Which it does to every HC eventually.

I hate to be negative but I am seeing some danger danger robot signs…

Your Offense scored 13 points and your QB had yet another subpar passing day... what is his passer rating up to now? 65?

Yeah our offense is being overhauled and it sucks for the time being... and your team still looked like dogshit most of the game vs us...

Vrabel is just this generations Jeff Fisher.. I hope you enjoyed your super bowl fluke run last year... you wont be back..,
 
A lot of warts surfaced.

Some of them warts were dropped passes. that can change.

Another was Rodgers being gun-shy, his stats were terrible two weeks in a row. Not to many more games he needs to be benched.

Skip Rudy and bring Will in to see how he responds. Could make or break, but the risk is worth it. He is a 2nd year QB.

Maxi was put in near end of game, KEEP him in from this point forward.

I know you don’t want to juggle OL, let them play and get that “gel” everyone is talking about. Should a couple games and no improvement, may be time to simplify the blocking scheme to a more of beat the man in front of you type blocking. Road grade for the run backs to follow.

I’m not advocating an over-haul, small tweaks and keep improving as we go.

That was not a very good Patriots team that the Steelers just imploded against today, that said, the Patriots did have the benefit of 10 days rest and a far more seasoned and battle tested offensive and defensive group. They were in a better head space and far more opportunistic. They are also 1-1 on the season.

I am not going to grab my pitchfork and demand anyone's head just yet. Whilst it is true that many things need to be fixed and the majority of what needs fixing relates to the OL. They need to be able to hold their ground and actually block an opponent for more than a second to allow a play to develop. If the OL can be fixed, maybe there is a chance the Steelers can be competitive this year. However, I think I am in the minority in wishing to see this, as most seem to want to watch the team implode this year and get a highly coveted top 10 draft pick in 2027. There is of course the possibility that that plan will not work out, note Exhibit 1 - the Cleveland Browns QB search.

In my opinion, the worst thing the Steelers decided to do was to move the positions of 80% of the OL while implementing a new offensive scheme. Maybe the coaching staff should put the players all back where they were last year. They seemed to at least have some modicum of success in 2025. Perhaps also get vision checks for both Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf.

OR........Drops by the WR...an old QB who made bad throws...got happy feet...horrible OL play. Just what I saw. Also....maybe get rid of our PA until we actually have a running. Now THAT is on the HC calling the plays. Yeps!!

Yup at a minimum this team simply needs to move forward with the young talent and if they suck they suck

They’ve got a scared, immobile, inaccurate, dinosaur with fumbilitis as a QB. Let him get win 100 and move on to see what Howard has. It was stupid bringing him back and is stupid to continue to place his weak, scared azz as a hurdle in front of prospects they need info on.

At WR DK blows, but they’re stuck with him and the poor trade he was…if Art the flaccid would’ve just pulled ALL Guaranteed $ of his last year it would be ez peezy to move on from his garbage for just the loss of the pick they wasted on acquiring him.

17 had a couple plays he was open if the QB pissing down his leg can look
downfield…even with the abysmal QB play he was the best option out there…by far

Take 14 off Wilson already, he can’t even hold Limas Sweed’s jock, much less GP’s. He’s useless unless you’re looking for a 1-2 yard out. On no planet should he be taking snaps away from 17…it’s flat stupid.

Hope Pittman is back soon.

On the OL Dunker and the Anchor can’t be worse than the right side already is. Put the two backups (Anderson and Cook) back where they belong…the bench

Seems like almost all the major issues are on the long neglected offensive side of the ball…other than the awful run D.

Safety still a bit of an issue as well but we knew that would be going in.

Just look what a mid team like the Panthers did down in ATL today…belt to azz over and over like a mid team should do vs an absolute tomato can team with a 3rd string QB. This same team the Stillers barely beat at home last week.

I Warned that the victory last week was fools gold and that good teams need good QBs, blocking, catching and tackling…all fundamentals that were absent in last week’s Fool’s gold victory. **** the Cheaters aren’t even that good as the meh Stillers were still in the game for a long while despite all of their deficiencies.

This team needs to recalibrate and grow a pair.

The announcers were making fun of them on the broadcast because Jaylen was hit at or behind the line of scrimmage in 10 out of 10 of his carries last week.
