The Climate Change Thread

I guess I am saying it wrong. I do believe the earth is warming. I don't believe humans have anything to do with it. Just natural weather change

I'm no scientist, I don't have any answers, but it boils my blood when an entire political movement like MAGA, with Trump in the lead, is claiming none of this is true, that none of this is happening, that we are not to believe our own eyes. Like it's a big ******* joke to so many, on that side of the political spectrum stateside.

As far as what the solutions are, who the **** knows. My sense is it may be too late to turn things around. Maybe if a guy like Elon Musk wasn't so infatuated with abandoning Earth for Mars, but used his resources and know how into fixing this, we'd be a bit ahead of the curve. I simply don't know what the answer is, and I have no real-world solutions of my own. I do know that ignorance is most definitely not bliss, when it comes to this issue.

When a climate agreement is presented that doesn’t exempt some of the world’s largest polluters, when someone proposes banning emissions instead of wealth transfer schemes like pollution credits, when leading climate change advocates don’t fly around in private planes and live in 10,000 square foot mansions, maybe people will take it more seriously.

Simply?
It’s simply not that simple if the aim is to stop climate change.

Sarge and OFTB stated it pretty clearly for most people, but let's assume that this is real, man-made climate change.
Now what?

Anyone old enough to remember Pittsburgh in the 60's can acknowledge what can be done, although an entire industry was lost in the process.
I've lived in the Phoenix metro area for 45 years and it does get hot, hotter nighttime temperatures because the orange groves have been replaced with concrete. So, the answer should be the elimination of the human race?

I think that it pretty arrogant of man to believe that he can change the weather, especially when those calling for policy change aren't leading by example. The mayor of NYC telling everyone to set their A/C no lower than 78 while his residence is at 68 for example.

It also doesn't help the cause of climate activists by using scare tactics that prove untrue. We still have Polar Bears and Miami isn't under 3 feet of water, but folks like Al Gore are still living in luxury and became wealthy in the crusade.
