I’ll be happy to have Rodgers prove himself by him helping Bernard and Bernard helping himself having a solid rookie season and being a fixture in the offense and not going scrap heap diving in the middle of the year for washed up buddies of Rodgers to replace a high draft pick like last year
You draft a guy 2nd round Bernard or 3rd round Wilson it’s everyone’s job to make them better, including the player. The failure to do that: Wilson, Najee, Pickett, Jones, Pickens, etc is why this franchise has been irrelevant the past 8 years
Your 42 year old QB who will retire in February, who hasn’t done jack since he left the Packers years ago, doesn’t get to dictate the direction of the offense
Davante Adam's 2nd round 2015
1st yr 446 yards
With vets Jones and Cobb on the team
2nd year 1k yards 3rd year 877 4th 1386
We all know he became all world
Nelson 2nd round 2008
1St year 366 yards 2 tds
That team had 2 1k receivers in Jennings and driver and also had James Jones as a 3rd and yet Nelson still contributed as a 4th receiver rookie and later developed into a top receiver with AR. In his 3rd year he was the leading receiver for the packers even with Jennings, driver, and Jones (all vets) still on the team
Lazard undrafted 2018
rookie year 477 yards
This with MVS, Allison, and Adam's on the team. In 3 years as an undrafted player he was the leading receiver on the team
Cobb 2nd round
375 yards
That team had Nelson as the top dog, Jennings, driver, James Jones and yet Cobb still contributed. In his second year with Rodgers he had almost 1k yards and had 1287 yards in his fourth year.
Geronimo Allison undrafted
1st year 202 yards
2nd year 253 yards
An undrafted kid contributed with Adam's, Cobb, and Nelson on the team
Jarrett Boykin.......undrafted 2012
Had Cobb, Jones, Nelson, driver and Jennings on the team agead of him.....only had 27 yards but in his 2nd year had 681 yards with only Driver off the team out of that bunch when Cobb got injured
Eqauanimeous st brown 6th round pick 2018
MVS 5th round 2018
Rookie year st brown 328 yards
MVS 581 yards
This with Cobb, Adam's, Allison on the team still
Watson 2nd round 2022 611 yards
Dobbs 4th round 2022 425 yards
This with lazard, Cobb, and Sammy Watkins on the team.
Aside from some depth piece WRs that played special teams or were backups Rodgers had almost every rookie contribute in a meaningful way as a rookie and a lot of these guys were undrafted, or late round picks. The only guys drafted High for Rodgers were Nelson, Adams and Watson and were all taken in the 2nd round. Rodgers was gone after Watsons rookie year but both Nelson and Adam's became the leading receivers for the team early in their careers with Rodgers even with key vets still on the team.
Even in his only full.year with the jets with lazard, Mike Williams and davante on the team, it was the 3rd year player in Wilson that led the team in receiving.
Where the F is the narrative of Rodgers not liking young receivers coming from? He's turned a lot of late round roster fills into NFL starters and has thrown to just about every rookie that has been thrown on his team.
Maybe just maybe the rookies or young receivers we have drafted recently that he had to work with just flat out weren't good picks.
If Bernard is good I'm sure he will do.just fine with AR
