He was correct then, and it's the only solution now. Negotiating with the Islamists is as pointless as having a discussion with Flog.
Problem now is that he doesn't have the support of half the country on this, or any other issue for that matter.

Trump said we need to take their oil. We are not taking their oil and that wasn't the reason for attacking Iran. We also did nothing to prevent Iran from blocking / guarding the straight. We also supposedly obliterated Iran's nuke capabilities less than a year ago so if iran was close to a nuke, we were either lying then or now. Not securing the straight was a major strategical error. Now we are stuck in a stalemate without the element of surprise and no good or easy way outs. Iran still has their uranium, is still launching attacks, and we still don't have control of the oil or the straight.
I don't think anyone will debate that the Iran regime is not evil, but i think it's very debatable how much of a threat they are / were to us. The only true solution is full regime change and physical removal of their uranium. We seem to have 0 plans for that

Sorry Jitter, I disagree. Iran under their current Islamic control would literally do anything to destroy the American devil.
They're a patient bunch, 50 years in the making and would not hesitate to deploy a nuclear device on our soil.
There is only one form of reasoning and negotiation that they understand.

They understand ruthless brutality well. That's pretty much the entire middle east who are stuck in the 4th century.

Half measures and diplomacy with a government like that is a waste of time. They will lie to you and then go do whatever they want to do anyway. We're not dealing with logical sane people.

Just look at what they do to their own people. Good grief,and they hate us and have been attacking us for decades,if not directly, then through proxy terrorist groups and insurgents.

Iran's oil powers 2 big things. One of them is not the economy for the Iranian people. The two things are the British navy and China's economy. The US does not need to control the oilfield, but rather the shipping channels. Each boat now traversing, is doing so with US naval blessing. Are the Iranians irritants to the passage thru Hormuz? Yes. But tge ultimate power is US. A year from now, the tolls collected will be allocated by the US, not Iran, or the almost dead British Empire.

The funding to the IRGC, the real power behind the political leadership left in Iran, and the funder of the 31 provincial armies, and Hezbollah, etc. has all been greatly reduced.

Iran's uranium is deeply buried, and when it does come yp from under, it will be traded for food and cash.

Whether he intended it or not, Trump has brought the war in the ME that has been long coming, and he has laid seige and neutered the money and oil flows.

Considering the retarded ends to Desert Storm, the Afghan and Iraqi actions, and all American interdictions since WWII, at least the Panama Canal, Venezuela and Iran force the entire world to conduct virtually all global oil biz via American terms.

In case you are unaware of the huge problems in the EU/UK, and the one coming on your northern border, this positions the US very, very well.
