Steelers sign Herbig to HisBig extension

I think they might try to trade Highsmith, with the development of Sawyer and this new contract maybe the writing is on the wall
I doubt it. With TJ's age and Highsmith getting nicked up most years depth for this year is very important. They can rotate and play multiple sets and be unpredictable.

Aren't the Cowboys big in this market??? A second for one of them. I know the Browns got crazy for Garrett but for whatever reason he has more shine. Id definitely take a first for Watt. Maybe a second. Second for Highsmith for sure.

I hope not. Highsmith has a future, not sure about Watt’s. Doubt anyone is willing to trade for Watt given his salary.

First of all…..congratulations to Nick. He is only 24. If things go well for him,he can still get another big payday.
Refreshing to see us sign our own draft pick rising stars to a second contract. There hasn’t been many of late. With Darnell and Joey up next. Keeanu has been a mild disappointment for me,we will see how he shakes out.

Which Graham is known for..

Garret had 3 times as many sacks as Watt. I’m not sure the Steelers could get a 2nd for him.

You must be awfully certain Herbig will give you similar production to prime Watt? It’s an every down thing at that point. Herbig isn’t just helping another guy get some wind or being used in certain situations. Depth will be a concern going forward. All of that factors into the equation. Sure, trade the franchise’s all-time sack leader, be my guest, it’ll give someone else the chance to break it. It’s a tough contract to move, but, if anyone can accomplish such a monumental feat, it’s the great Khan.

I think that would happen next offseason moreso.

Watt had an odd injury, a predictable DC/HC and plays a different position. I said it before I think under Graham he has a bounce back season…

Joey up next.

Cornerback and kicker are the bipolar positions of football. Things can change very quickly. The highs are very high and the lows are very low. In my non-expert opinion, 3/60 with thirty guaranteed is about right. When you’re giving somebody you drafted a contract, you have to judge the previous contract, not just the previous year.

I’d wager you that Joey gets much larger than 3 years for 60 million with 30 guaranteed. From whoever signs him.

And we’ve been screaming for a young stud Cornerback that we actually pick in the draft for as long as I can remember. Let’s get it done. And it has to be 4+ years.

I don’t think that “larger deal” is in Pittsburgh. That is the assumption we are all operating under, it is a Steelers fansite. At the end of the day, he’s played one good season. You all comp him with guys like Pat Surtain. Pat Surtain was the best cornerback at every level of football that he’s played. I just don’t see that sort of deal. Not all contracts reset the market for a given position, it’s a reality. 4+ years? What are you his agent?

I don’t know what he will get but I am willing to bet it will be attractive and will come from the Steelers.

Herbig had 7.5 sacks to Watt’s 7 with many less snaps.

I hope they do. I'd like to see if we could get at least a second round pick for him. We need to stock pile picks in case we need to get a QB next year.
