Draft Thread Rounds 2 and 3

Allar is much like our first round pick. A huge upside but a cellar for a floor. With enough coaching he could be the best QB not only in this draft but the last five. Or he could be Christian Hackenberg. But at 76 you aren't going to get everything so you are either banking on potential or getting a guy who will at minimum contribute. We swung for the fences and I am ok with that.
I just don't want it to impact reality if they have too much faith in him or McCarthy's ability to "coach him up".

3rd round QB are not "future" franchise QB's. They are backups with upside - maybe a decent starter or maybe trade bait in the right scenario or maybe career backups that let you pick other things for many drafts in a row.

If we truly want to change the trajectory of this franchise we are going to have to go all-in on a 1st round QB again (just not a stupid one). And McCarthy was brought in for the sole purpose to do that.

If our hope was McCarthy can turn a 3rd rounder into a Super Bowl caliber franchise guy, that's just asking too much in my opinion. And is much more "hope" than a plan. And that is terrible.

I think swinging for the fences would have been a guy like Cole Payton. He has about the same physical traits as Allar but is more athletic. Allar has just been pedestrian, Payton has the unknown factor with very high potential

Possibly. But, I wasn't counting on Howard to be the savior anyway. Based on what I've seen of Allar, I wouldn't hold my breath on him being it either. He lacks the "clutch" gene and it has shown.
He lacks the accuracy gene as well.

I guess it's easier to be clutch throwing to a wide open Jeremiah Smith, Emeka Egbuka, and Carnell Tate.

Your opinion is no more valid than mine. He would have been great later, when he would have still been there. If you're going full rebuild, do it. The standard the last decade is why they draft so late. Squeaking into the playoffs is trash franchise expectations. You like it, good for you. Time will tell, there's a reason he was projected to go later. Pennsylvania homer feelings aside. I've been on this site for over 20 years, you don't like my opinion, keep scrolling.

I'm good, he was a colossal reach according to ANY board out there. Again, they went with the kid in their back yard. Now what do we have? Two young maybe QB's while they wait on AARP *** Rodgers to show up. You are entitled to like it, I'm entitled to say it was dumb as Hell. carry on though Mel Kiper Jr. If you're punting and rebuilding, do it. The standard has been mediocrity since Ben retired. Tomlin is gone, no more blaming him for the dumb ****.

You can hate the pick, and you have stated as such with just about anything they have done this year... but damn dude, the AMOUNT of hate and negativity is going to effect your health...just looking out for your long term.

You're also not even giving the new staff a chance to do what they were hired to do, which is coach these kids up. You said it in your last sentence, Tomlin and his staff is gone...It's all fresh and new this year

With the 84th pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Georgia State WR Ted Hurst.

I'm surprised the RB Washington from Arkansas is on the board. I doubt steeler go RB here but he's a good player

I am not by any means overlooking the fact that he has like a 20% chance of becoming a starter and an 80% chance of being out of the league in 5 years. But if you are going to take that chance I like doing it with a 6-5 230lb kid with a rocket arm and can drop it in the breadbasket from 60+ yards. Now it's all the other stuff he needs to learn lol

Yep. Sure is. But, you also have to get the ball to them.
Seriously, how many "happy" moments has Drew given you PSU fans in big games? How much heartache. Be honest
