Just because they fired on it doesn't mean it would reach. I could shoot a slingshot and say I was firing at Japan. One of the missiles failed mid flight and one was shot down, but I don't think it said where exactly. The problem is Trump lies or exaggerates about everything then expects people to forget what he said previously. If Iran's capabilities were obliterated then they wouldn't have had an "imminent" threat now. I believe Israel talked us into this war based on fake intelligence or just the fact that alot of senior officials were having a meeting together. Changing the Iran regime is not a bad thing, but don't tell us a bunch of BS.

And just because one was intercepted and one failed in mid-flight doesn't mean that they don't have a missile capable of reaching 2,000+ miles.
See how that works? We can speculate all day and not be factually correct on anything going on.

Yeah, I’m leaning towards the same thinking as you..

The most favorable exit for the United States would be to guarantee/control the Strait opening with our allies help, continue to give the impression of being involved with serious talks with the current Iranian regime, whoever that is, and then back away slowly, by letting Israel in the Arab nations work towards regime change, whatever that looks like..

Resume change benefits them the most so they can handle that last phase of the war.
 
Trump posted this morning that he was contacted by the Iranians about peace. I guess they have about had it. So, according to this post on truth social, he ordered Hegseth to stand down.

Recently, Trump said "unconditional surrender." I'm curious to see how this goes.
