2026 Free Agency Begins Thread

Wayyyyyyy More... moving from the 20's to 1 would probably cost 4 firsts plus a bunch of seconds and thirds seconds ... look at what KC had to do in 2017 to move from the late 20's to 10 OA, then look at what it cost Carolina had to do to get from 9 Oa to 1oa in 2023...
Also, maybe I'm going against the grain, but I don't think Mendoza is the type of QB prospect you sell the farm for.

And people used PFF to defend Watt when his sacks were down. Tj's sacks that year he won it were literally 2% of the snaps he played that season. Most overrated stat in sports history.

The other 98% of the snaps kind of matter.
Agreed, but give me the guy that makes the sack, or forces the fumble, the guy that makes the play, not the guy that almost made the play like when Garrett won DPOY, didn't lead the NFL in any stat, didn't lead Watt in any stat, yet he's DPOY on a bad team. That makes zero sense.

Are we going they going start crediting WR's when they drop passes, "well they're getting open" catching the ball matters.

Facts don't matter in today's NFL, stats do. It didn't matter that TJ actually got to the QB and impacted a play, it's that Garrett almost got there (Win rate) than TJ therefore he's better. It's a joke and a mockery of the history of the NFL. Just wait, there will be a time when they recalculate careers and rank Lambert 15 spots behind Urlacher because Brian almost tackled 20% more players. That is the type of bullshit ruining the NFL.

More to it than the stat sheet, if he's disruptive and taking 2-3 blockers away and still forcing the QB off his spot despite that, someone else is collecting stats. That's gotta count for something. Also, that game where he had a weak stat line vs. Dan Moore was because the Steelers schemed to get the ball out of the QB's hands, Moore literally lost 100% of the pass rush reps vs him, but fans claimed he "dominated" Garrett, cuz "no sacks!".

Dropped passes is a great example why analytics are needed. PFF dings the WR for that, passer rating dings the QB.

If Urlacher had more tackles why wouldn't you guys rank him ahead of Lambert? You just said stats are what matter.

You can impact a play without making a sack. Just ask Fran Tarkenton in SB IX. Didn't get sacked once.

Dang…
I said 3 1sts, 3 2nds and 2 3rds plus some late round sweeteners this year and it’s STILL wayyyy more?

How much more than 10-12 picks you thinking
An edge too??? 🤣

We both know it ain’t happening cuz that type
of move is roster killing over time.

A risk on any draft pick that includes 3 1sts and about 8 day 1-2 picks in total isn’t a risk worth taking for any prospect imho…

When ya consider the success/failure of prospects that is just an awful gamble.

Even if you hit that pick your chances of fielding a contender just went drastically down. We don’t need a #1 pick. We just need to be smart with taking some calculated swings…we’ve been bat on shoulder watching a called third strike for years wondering why we can’t get a hit.

This kid was a hot shot high school football player here in Delaware.
As you know, it’s a small state and when one of the states own gets drafted in the first round that’s huge news out here.
He actually went to a very good high school football program “ above the canal”… as the locals like to say here…
Does that equate to "above the line"??? Obviously, I'm an island fella, if you will, so I am going to need clarity on this colloquial terminology in the realm of football...

Highlighted for emphasis.

Cole Holcomb re-signing for 2 years....makes Queen expendable?
Stop. Queen had a rough year but he's on the field because of his smarts. Does he miss tackles or get caught in the wash? Yes. He's been doing that since LSU - I said it then.

But he's a leader and until Wilson passes him - he's the alpha in that room.

If, by some chance Lawson, ILB, Bama falls in the 3rd - now there's a reason to let Queen go in a trade. Younger, faster and doesn't miss tackles or get caught in the wash...

I thought this guy would be a star coming out of college. Truthfully, didn’t really follow him as up until recently, the Bears just sucked so I don’t know if he’s any good.
The Bears had a top 3 secondary last year if I'm not mistaken...

Solid signing. Ramsey can move inside to corner and stay there. With two coverage corners you can play him something like they played Minkah deep and have him react forward.

Doesn’t stop the Steelers from drafting a S in 2 or 3.

Now hopefully they will bring in a G and that would round down urgent needs…
Nope. Keep Ramsey at FS. Brisket at SS...

That might be their plan . I also think we will see 3 S sets. We shall see how the draft and free agency unfolds. I know Brisker and Elliot wouldn’t be ideal FS’s. Not even sure Ramsey is either at this stage of his career.

Seattle ran a ton of 3 Safety personnel this past season.

They had the horses to do it. Which is why we should have seriously went for the Seahawks 26 year old rising star Coby Bryant in FA signed @ 3 years for 40 million with Chicago Instead of a 31 year old Jalen Ramsey who I thought was average at best making over 20 million a year. I would have cut him or traded. There were other options available they could have explored.

If there is the usual run on WR’s in the first round I would have no problem running to the platform to draft Dillon Thieneman if he was available. While I’m sure 90% disagree on a safety,I think we have been missing an actual playmaker back there for years. Think of what Troy meant to this team when you say Safeties aren’t as important of a pick. Maybe a guy like Concepcion will drop and we could trade up for him in the second for a WR. I sure wish we would have retained Isaac for one more year.

The Broncos are trading the No. 30 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft as well as a third- and fourth-round picks in exchange for Waddle and a fourth-round pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

That’s a big trade for Denver. He’s an actual playmaker. Nix on a rookie contract makes this happen.
